Manga Review: Jiu Jiu, Vol. 5 Paperback

I've finished "Jiu Jiu Vol. 5" the last manga in the series by Touya Tobina.

A dark, sexy drama of a demon hunter and her werewolf familiars.

Born into a family of “Hunters,” Takamichi’s destiny is to pursue and slay demons. When her twin brother is killed, she is saved from despair by a pair of Jiu Jiu — shape-shifting familiars — in the form of two wolf pups named Snow and Night. Now Takamichi is in high school and an active Hunter. Snow and Night can't wait to attend school in their human form to “protect” her. But are they ready to go off leash?

Final Volume!

Takamichi’s Jiu Jiu Obedience Training Goals

1. Protect your mistress at all costs—and in any form.

2. Examine your puppy love deeply.

3. Whatever you do...don’t go feral!

Reads R to L (Japanese Style) for teen plus audiences.

My Review:

This a very confusing last manga because Takamichi finally gets married and has twins and leaves us with Q/A:

1.  Who is the father/husband?
2.  Is Yuki her older brother really alive and what happened to him?

My Review:

In this volume Takamichi is on her way to meeting with her dad and very important people of other clans.  As she arrives she is attacked by her former fiance (he's a major jerk and loves to make her life miserable) and her current fiance has to intervene though he doesn't look at her.  We learn why later why he doesn't look at her.

She is late for the meeting and she apologizes but the other heads aren't too happy and wonder how she could be the head of her family?  We are shown some of Takamichi's childhood when she is engaged to her ex and how much he tormented her.

We are introduced to some new characters like the bat boy Meru and a little girl while waiting for her mistress to come back haunted the house who both become attached to Takamichi.

There is a little story about Night and Day when they were younger who were unsure of how Takamichi felt about them.  They talk to Moon Takamichi's father's Jiu Jiu who is older and quite rude and crude.

My Review:

Takamichi is born into a family of Hunters and her destiny is to pursue and slay Demons.  In her childhood   her older brother was killed while protecting her.  She becomes destructive and out of control so her dad gave her a couple of Jiu Jiu shape-shifter familiars to take care of.  They are two wolf brother pups and are named Snow and Night.  She has closed herself off and is determined never to feel anything or let anyone get close to her again.

She is now in high school and a full fledge Hunter.  Both Snow and Night can't wait to go to school in their human form to protect her but it's not safe to let them off their leash. Snow and Night both love to play ball and go on walks.  Snow is quite clingy and both love to wake up in the morning naked in bed with Takamachi (Don't worry there isn't anything inappropriate in this manga).

During a couple of fights Takamichi is afraid she will lose both Snow and Night and it opens her eyes that she loves both of them.  She finally admits she needs both of them and that she wants to take care of them.

I didn't like how she treats Snow and Night at first because she's so mean to them and beats them up too.  Snow is a little too clingy, possessive and immature.

4/5
