Contemp Review: Haven Creek (A Cavanaugh Island Novel) [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "Haven Creek" the 3rd book in her Cavanaugh Island series by Rochelle Alers.
Product Description
Home is where the heart is.
Architect Morgan Dane has always lived according to a plan, crossing off her achievements one by one. But when she's offered her dream job - the restoration of historic Angels Landing Plantation on beautiful Cavanaugh Island - Morgan's life takes an unexpected turn.
Carpenter Nathaniel Shaw once took a big chance on commitment - and lost. Needing the healing comforts of home, he returns to Haven Creek to join the family business. Nothing in the small town has changed - except for Morgan Dane. The wallflower he knew in high school has grown into a beautiful woman and stirs feelings Nate isn't sure he's ready for.
Together Nate and Morgan find a happiness neither could have predicted. But when secrets from the past come to light, their budding relationship is threatened. Will they play it safe, or risk their hearts to build a life together?

My Review:
Architect Morgan Dane has been given the job of a lifetime the restoration of historic Angels Landing Plantation on beautiful Cavanaugh Island. Morgan has always had a crush on Nate since she was 13 years old and now she knows he's a good man to fall in love with.
Carpenter Nathaniel Shaw has returned home to join the family business after a disastrous marriage. He wants to start over but doesn't want a long-term relationship but when he meets Morgan again she stirs up feelings he doesn't want to acknowledge.
As they spend more time together they can't deny the hot chemistry between them or what their hearts are telling them.
This book is very heart-warming with two likeable characters with steamy hot chemistry and some nosy family members and friends.

Contemp Review: Angels Landing (A Cavanaugh Island Novel) [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "Angel's Landing" the 2nd book in her Cavanaugh Island series by Rochelle Alers.
Product Description
Sometimes love can take you by surprise.
Kara Newell has a big-city life that needs a major shake-up. Her dedication as a social worker is unwavering, yet her heart tells her that there is more to life than just work. Kara gets the push she needs when she shockingly inherits a large estate on an island off the South Carolina coast. Now the charming town of Angels Landing awaits her . . . along with a secret family she never knew she had.
After surviving war, loss, and heartbreak, ex-marine Jeffrey Hamilton takes his position as sheriff of idyllic Cavanaugh Island very seriously. So he is the perfect person to watch over the beautiful, confident woman who has turned her new family's expectations upside down - and stepped into the crosshairs of angry local residents.
But soon Kara becomes more than just a job to him, and he begins to need her in ways he never expected. As Kara and Jeffrey confront the town gossips together, they'll learn to face their fears and forgive their pasts in order to find a future filled with happiness in Angels Landing.

My Review:
Kara Newell a social worker was on her way south to visit her parents in Little Rock, Arkansas to start her vacation. She has worked in New York for fifteen years and is now ready to relax and be able to sleep in.
Her first stop is in Charleston per the request of David Sullivan the attorney for Taylor Patton for the reading of his will. She tries to tell David that she doesn't know Mr. Patton but he reassures her that Patton knew who she is. When she arrives in the conference room she notices a group of people staring angrily at her as the lawyer reads out that he left all his belongs and his home to his biological daughter Kara with the condition that she restore the Angel's Landing National Historical Registry Site on Cavanaugh Island. David persuades her to spend a week at the estate instead of allowing suspicious relatives to sell.
David calls his cousin Jeffrey Hamilton a retired Marine and the Cavanaugh Island sheriff to look after
Kara. When Jeffrey meets Kara he is smitten and he vows to protect her and get to know her better.
This book had a very touching love story, the bonds between family, cruel villains that will resort to violence to get what they want and very interesting secondary characters.
