YA Review: Infamous: Chronicles of Nick [Hardcover]

Product Description

The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters.

Now Nick’s saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume.

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive and keep a girlfriend so dang hard? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself.

My Review:

Nick has grown up in this book and has taken his responsibilities more seriously.

Ambrose Nick's adult form informs his teenage self that he needs to alter his course of destiny or he would destroy the world.  He also lets him know that he was destined to meet Kyrian and Ash and in the future someone he loves will die - either his mom or his girl Kody on their wedding night depending on his actions.  He also learns why he can be saved.

One day as Nick, Caleb and Kody walk into their homeroom they discover something amiss is happening.  Pictures of Brynna Adams that are photo shopped are posted on the web (doing naughty things including with animals) and other students are posting rumors and putting letters of innuendo on another's locker (saying he is gay).  Nick makes it his mission to get to the bottom of this and find out who is responsible.

Nick has to fight demons and also visits Azmodea where he meets Asmodeus, Thorn and some other interesting characters.  He also meets his father Adrian Malachai who is trying to kill him but seems to love his mother.  Nick also makes a pact with someone that Ambrose disproves of - will Nick learn to regret it?

It was great to see some old friends Ash, Kyrian, Simi, Dev, Wren, etc.  Loved the scenes when Nick and Wren interact.

The only thing I didn't like was Nick's mother Cherise in this book - she was nice and sweet to everyone else but would treat Nick like he was a baby and delinquent.  She didn't trust him and talked down to him.

Watch the Infamous Trailer!

Infamous [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Infamous" by Suzanne Brockmann.

Product Description

In her first paperback original in more than six years, New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann delivers an unforgettable novel of contemporary romance and thrilling suspense.

When history professor Alison Carter became a consultant to the film version of the Wild West legend she’d dedicated her career to researching, she couldn’t possibly have known that she would not only get a front-row seat to a full-blown Hollywood circus but would innocently witness something that would put her life in peril. Nor did she expect that a tall stranger in a cowboy hat would turn the movie — and her world —completely upside down.

A. J. Gallagher didn’t crash the set in dusty Arizona to rub elbows with Hollywood’s elite. Unable to ignore ghosts from the past that refuse to stay buried, A. J. came to put an end to the false legend that has tarnished the reputation of his family. But when he confronts Alison, sparks fly. And when Alison is targeted by ruthless criminals, suddenly she and A .J. must face the intense attraction that threatens to consume them — and survive the danger that threatens their very lives.
