One Grave at a Time: A Night Huntress Novel [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "One Grave at a Time" the book in her Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.
Product Description
How do you send a killer to the grave when he’s already dead?
Having narrowly averted an (under)World War, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’s voodoo queen just keeps on giving — leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.
Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity — forever. But one wrong step and they’ll be digging their own graves.
About the Author
Jeaniene Frost is the New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author of the Night Huntress series and the Night Huntress World novels. To date, foreign rights for her novels have sold to seventeen different countries. Jeaniene lives in North Carolina with her husband Matthew, who long ago accepted that she swears like a sailor, rarely cooks, and always sleeps in on the weekends. Aside from writing, Jeaniene enjoys reading, poetry, watching movies with her husband, exploring old cemeteries, spelunking and traveling - by car. Airplanes, children, and cookbooks frighten her.

My Review:
It's been five weeks since the end of "This Side of the Grave" and Cat still can't get rid of Marie's power and ghosts are still flocking to her. Fabian Cat's ghost friend has a request for help: the ghost Fabian is in love with needs help eradicating another ghost and wants Cat's help doing it.
Cat and her Master Vampire husband Bones learn of a ghost that takes solid form on All Hallows Eve and chooses 3 women to torture and murder. Heinrich Kramer was once a witch hunter and now he comes back each year and picks innocent women to burn alive, claiming they are evil witches. Now Cat and Bones will need to find a way to get rid of the ghost permanently and end his reign of terror or they may end up as Kramer's next victims.
I really love how Cat's and Bone's relationship is even stronger than ever but Bones has his jealousy under control know. There is a scene where it gives the phrase "Mile High Club" a whole new meaning! LOL!
Both Cat and Bone's have really grown from the first book to now with Cat learning she can be quite happy and Bones is more trusting and letting Cat take the lead in this book.
Loved Tyler the Medium with his witty remarks and how he loves flirting with all the good-looking vamps.
Glad to see some of the characters back and play a bigger part in helping Cat and Bones with their plans. Missed Vlad in this one.
4/5

This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 5) [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "This Side of the Grave" the 5th book in her Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.
Product Description
The highly anticipated continuation of Jeaniene Frost's New York Times and USA Today bestselling Night Huntress series, in which Cat and Bones face an enemy unlike any they've met before.
Danger waits on both sides of the grave.
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they've triumphed over the latest battle, Cat's new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance...
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous "ally"--the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war. ...to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

My Review:
Cat has some unique abilities that some of the members of the supernatural community feel threatened by. The leader of the ghouls is targeting Cat, so Bones and Cat enlist the help of the ghoul queen Marie of New Orleans as well as Cat's old team and their group of vampire friends to stop the crazy Apollynon from bringing war that would net massive losses on both sides.
Cat has grown alot since Book 1 and finally trusts Bones with her life and heart. They have a group of friends that has grown into a family who are always willing to help them out when needed.
Loved that we got to see Spade and Denise and Mencheres and Kira and to catch up on what happening in their lives.
Vlad had a bigger part in this book and he's always a delight to read! He's a great friend to Cat and always helping her out and getting her out of scrapes!
I definately recommend reading Chapter 21 which will give Chapter 32 a run for it's money! Now after reading that I will not look at wax the same way again (I mean in a good way), LOL!!
5/5
