RS Review: Vortex (Cutter Cay) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Vortex" the 3rd book in her Cutter Bay series by Cherry Adair.

Product Description

The thrid book in Cherry Adair's Cutter Cay series plunges into a Vortex of high-sea adventure and romance, where a long-lost treasure is a deadly lure — and love is the most dangerous current of all … SWEPT AWAY

Searching for a sunken ship off the coast of Peru, treasure hunter Logan Cutter manages to pull a very different kind of prize from the sea — beautiful gallery owner Daniela Rosada. Dani claims she was thrown overboard by ruthless pirates and begs for his protection. But Logan is no stranger to a woman's lies, and something about her story doesn't add up.

IN TOO DEEP

With her knowledge of Peruvian artifacts, Dani offers to help Logan translate an ancient map that will lead them to a shipwrecked treasure — and into a carefully laid trap. But the closer they get, the deeper she falls for him, not realizing that Logan is hiding a secret of his own. By the time she learns the truth about his boat, his brothers — and his blood feud with pirates — it’s too late. By falling in love, they’ve set a course for disaster …

My Review:

Logan Cutter is the oldest of the Cutter boys and he has a close relationship with both of his younger brothers Nick and Zane.  He hasn't let the past with his father ruin his future or the future of his brothers.  He rules his crew of men with an iron fist but he was fair and really cared about his men.

He's on an expedition to find some long lost treasure when he rescues a women from drowning.  He becomes suspicious when she reveals she knows what treasure he is searching for and where it's located.  He lets her distract him by veering him onto another course then originated.

We find out her name is Daniela and she is on the run from her scary ex-boyfriend.  But she also has to worry about her criminal family.  Her long lost cousins use her as bait by throwing her into the water and hoping that Logan would rescue her leading them to a family heirloom at the bottom of the sea.

I didn't really like Daniela at first because I didn't like how she was lying who she was and how she ended up in the water.  She was smart, stubborn and extremely scared of her ex who tortured her.  She is scared of water, close quarters and humongous domineering men.

4/5

RS Review: Riptide (Cutter Bay) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Riptide" the 2nd book in her Cutter Bay series by Cherry Adair.

Product Description

Princess Bria Visconti demands the return of the money her brother rashly invested in Cutter Salvage. Treasure hunter Nick Cutter is too reckless, too arrogant — and far too handsome — for his own good. But he can’t charm his way out of this one. Bria plans to make Nick pay up even if she has to board his boat, don a wet suit, and dive for the treasure herself …
Nick sees Bria as a beautiful but spoiled princess who’s never done a day’s work in her pampered life. But once they set sail for the dive site, and the legendary fortune in gold the wreck carries, Nick begins to see Bria in a new light. This princess may be out of her depth, but she’s ready to take on the hidden danger and excitement a treasure hunt stirs to the surface. Together they must fight unexpected enemies — and reveal their darkest secrets — before they’re pulled into a rip current of danger.

My Review:

Storyline: We open the book as Nick goes undercover as Asim Nabi El Malahmah to uncover diamond thieves since he's very proficient in speaking languages. The deal is interrupted when Princess Gabriella Visconti demands he take her to the Scorpion but he would only take her if she barters something in return. He's suspicious she is working with the smugglers.

Her foolish brother Draven invested five million dollars into Cutter Salvage which she wants returned.  Both their parents were assassinated in Marrezo when they were young children.  They were separated and Gabriella was taken by her bodyguard Max to in America as his own.  Her taught her how to protect herself and to prepare her to go back and take back was is rightfully her own.  She wants to go back home to Marrezo to restore it to it's former glory and to prosper.  Gabriella has always thought her older brother was dead until a couple of years ago.  She was not welcomed when she attended his coronation either by Draven or his wife Dafne.

Gabriella is attacked on Nick's ship so he takes it on himself to be her protector and to find out why they would want to kill her and who?

Characters:  Gabriella is a fiery tempered princess but she doesn't flaunt her heritage, has a education and works in the public relations field.  She has dangerous and lethal protective skills and lives life to the fullest.
Nick doesn't let anyone get near him and he's very independent.  He suppresses his deep feeling for Gabriella as their relationship deepens.

Romance:  I really enjoyed the romance between Gabriella and Nick because they are fine examples of opposites attract.  Oil and water!  It was really fun to read when they are arguing and denying they are attracted to each other.  When they finally get together wow was it hot or what?  They are both very passionate people!

Killer: The killer is very deadly and cunning.  Wow never expected the killers to be who they were at first but then later on I believed it!

Undertow [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Undertow" the 1st book in her Cutter Cay series by Cherry Adair.

Product Description

SHE TAKES THE PLUNGE

Teal Williams is content with her career as a ship’s master mechanic — until Zane Cutter, the “Casanova of the Caribbean,” makes her an offer she can’t refuse: to climb on board with him for a real-life treasure hunt. Teal must help him dredge up a shipwrecked vessel containing an abundance of gold, silver, and emeralds —and she’ll claim part of the prize.

HE’S BLOWN OFF COURSE

Zane needs a mechanic — not a lover — and Teal, who can also dive, is perfect for the job. So it suits him just fine that Teal is completely immune to his charms…or so he tells himself. But with a deadly enemy in their midst — one who’s silently edging closer — Zane and Teal sink into troubled waters. Trapped in the middle of a perilous sea, they have no one to turn to but each other as they face down a danger that runs unfathomably deep — and a passion that runs even deeper…

My Review:

Storyline:  Zane is known as a playboy though his reputation has been exaggerated.  He's good-looking, charming and successful (everyone loves him) a perfect example of perfectness.  He gets his kicks by finding amazing shipwrecks and their sunken treasures.  Along with his two brothers he's known for his amazing finds.

His current find is the Vrijheid which is the motherload of sunken finds.  He needs an experience diving team along with a flawless mechanic to take care of his junk heap of a boat and no distractions.  He wants Teal Williams, who is the daughter of his aging and sick mechanic.  She's as good as her father and mousy so she won't be a distraction.

Teal came to Cutter Cay Island out of a sense of duty to her dying father whom she has never connected with.  She never agreed to go out to sea with Zane the star of her nightly dreams since childhood. She had given herself to him years in his drunken state (it was his father's funeral that day/night) and then the next morning he tossed her out without a backwards care.  She doesn't want a replay of that night and so she defends herself with a sharp tongue and hostile attitude.

Then things take a deadly turn when Zane finds out someone tampered with his boat and both Zane and Teal have to work together to survive.

Characters:  I really loved Zane's character because he's very caring about people especially one's he love.  he will protect them with his life and he knows what he wants.  I'm glad that he didn't leave Teal alone and went after her the way he did.  Loved the way he was protective of her.  He gets along with everyone and tries not to hurt women's feelings when they are coming on to him and he isn't interested!  Loved the way he loves his boat and defends her to everyone!

At first I didn't really like Teal's attitude because I thought she was being very harsh towards Zane. Then when I found out why she was acting that way then I understood why she was like that.  I started to warm up to her.

Romance:  Zane and Teal are great together.  I really wanted Teal to open up to Zane and see what a great guy he was.  When they finally got together it was quite steamy and I was really rooting for their HEA.

Killer(s):  They would kill anyone with no remorse and only for their own benefit.

4.5/5
