PNR Review: Heart of the Demon (Warriors of the Rift) [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished reading "Heart of the Demon" the 3rd book in her Warriors of the Rift series by Cynthia Garner.
Product Description
Warriors of the Rift
Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world - or send it spiraling into chaos.
The next opening of the rift is coming - and its consequences will be deadly. A rogue group of human-hating preternaturals is planning an apocalyptic attack, but the Council of Preternaturals may have found the key to saving the world: Keira O'Brien, a fey with a long criminal record, whose empathic abilities once made her the queen of con artists. If she successfully infiltrates the dangerous faction, the sins of her past will be forgiven.
Keira isn't the only agent working against the rogue prets. Finn Evnissyen, a powerful demon with a dark lineage, is a hired assassin looking for a way out. If he stops the threat, he will finally earn his freedom. As the rift fast approaches, and danger escalates, Finn and Keira must discover if they're on the same side - or sleeping with the enemy.
About the Author
Cynthia Garner discovered her love for writing when her sixth grade teacher told the class to write a story that began "It was a dark and stormy night..." With that Cynthia's love for all things paranormal was born. When she's not working her day job as a mostly mild-mannered Human Resources Manager, she's on her laptop writing or playing way too much Solitaire. Originally from Northeast Ohio, Cynthia now lives in the desert Southwest.

My Review:
Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world - or send it spiraling into chaos.
A group of rogue supernaturals are planning an attack so Finn Evnissyen, Lucifer's demon son and enforcer is asked to infiltrate group. If he is successful he would save the world and be given a way out of his dad's employment.
Keira O'Brien is also investigating the rogue group on a secret mission for Caladh MacLoch a senior member of the Council of Preternaturals. She's part fey with powerful empathetic abilities and is a former con artist. She hopes her success will help wipe out her past sins and she is surprised to see Finn involved with the group.
Both of these characters are walking on the fine line between good and bad. It was quite surprise to see that both characters had to do a nasty assignment to prove their loyalty to the leader of the rogue group (especially Finn's). Both of them want to keep each other close but can't reveal their real intentions to protect their cover.
The romance was quite steamy, provocative and hot and both of them have interesting pasts to keep you interested.

PNR Review: Secret of the Wolf (Warriors of the Rift) [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "Secret of the Wolf" the 2nd book in her Warriors of the Rift series by Cynthia Garner.

Warriors of the Rift

As a werewolf liaison to the Council of Preternaturals, Tori Joseph is used to straddling the world between humans and immortals. She plays by the rules and always delivers justice, no matter the cost. But after a string of increasingly brutal attacks results in humans turning into werewolves, Tori doesn't reveal her horrifying suspicion: Someone very close to her might be responsible.
Investigating the paranormal violence, no-nonsense detective Dante MacMillan believes Tori is hiding something. His search for the truth draws him into greater danger as he gets closer to the dark realm of the immortals - and to the sexy werewolf who stirs his primal lust. Now with evil closing in around them, Dante must convince Tori to trust him . . . before her deadly secret destroys them both.

My Review:
Tori Josephs is a werewolf liaison to the Council of Preternaturals and been living in a human host for 150 years in the city of Scottsdale, Arizona. She is assigned to work with human cop Dante MacMillan to solve the crazy rogue werewolf killings. Also she is on a secret assignment for Tobias Caine to figure out about the rift machine and asks Dante for help.
Both Tori and Dante have great chemistry but he spends a lot of time making excuses why they shouldn't get involved but their attraction is too strong to resist and he eventually succumbs. As they investigate further she believes she knows the identity of the rogue werewolf and it will jeopardize her relationship to her cop lover who she has fallen in love with.
I sympathize with Tori that she didn't want to say anything about who she suspected as the rogue werewolf because you don't want to think it's something close to you but I also think if she said something Dante's sister wouldn't have been hurt and more people wouldn't have been killed.
Dante is a great hero because you can see how much he cares for his sick sister and how much he loves her. Love his interactions with his horses and donkey and besides he drives a big truck and is a cop a sexy one at that!

PNR Review: Kiss of the Vampire (Warriors of the Rift) [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "Kiss of the Vampire" the 1st book in her Warriors of the Rift series by Cynthia Garner.

My Review:
Nix de la Fuente is the human liaison to the Council of Preternaturals, and she is a half-breed mix of human and demon. She hides this from everyone except her friend Dante MacMillan a detective on the Special Case Squad. They find themselves at a crime scene where a vampire (a close friend of Nix at one time) has been brutally murdered. While she must find a way to grieve through her passing, she is thrown a loop when the new vampire liaison arrives on scene: Nix's ex-love, Tobias Caine.
Nix find herself forced to work with Tobias, the man who broke her heart yet still drives her crazy, all while investigating multiple vampire murders. Tobias still loves Nix, but left so she could hold on to her humanity (he loved her that much).
I really enjoyed the supernatural world that Cynthia came up with the different paranormal species with their own set of special powers and flaws.
This was a very fast paced and very thrilling first book in the series with a well written plot and well developed main and secondary characters (especially Dante who was a comic relief and where did he put all that food?)
