ARC Review: The Outcast Prince

I've finished "The Outcast Prince" 1st book in her Court of Annwyn series by Shona Husk.

Product Description

Just One Taste Is All It Takes

This is no ordinary mirror. Caspian caught a hint of color, a whirl of a waltz just past his reflection — a glimpse into the decadent Fairy Court of Annwyn. The home he could never have. It called to him, whispering temptation after temptation if he could only reclaim his rightful heritage.

To Be Forever Lost

Caspian has an even stronger reason to stay in the world of humans. He's just met a woman who captivates him like no other. But loving him has proven to be dangerous. And he will do whatever it takes to protect Lydia from the vicious, seductive world of Court — even if doing so requires the ultimate sacrifice: his soul.

My Review:

Caspian Mort is a changling with a human mother and a fairy father who was born on human Earth.  As a result, he has a soul and is able to touch objects and learn their history.  Meanwhile he has to ignore all fairies until he catches the eye of a Grey Shea who wants to use his ability to find the enchanted window to Fairy.

Lydia Callaway has inherited Calloway House from her grandmother which used to be a brothel.  Her mother inherited the all the money so she hires Caspian Mort to appraise Calloway House.  During his appraisal Caspian finds out it's also a portal to Fairy and it's has a very sensual history.

Caspian is a little reserved in forming connections because of his past and he was once married to a cheating wife.  He is attracted to Lydia and is willing to sell his soul to protect her.

Lydia is sweet, charming, sexy and everything Caspian is looking for in a mate.

ARC Review: Kiss of the Goblin Prince: Shadowlands series [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Kiss of the Goblin Prince" the 2nd book in her Shadowlands series by Shona Husk.

Product Description

The Man of Her Dreams

He is like a prince in a fairy tale: tall, outrageously handsome, and way too dark for her own good. Amanda has been hurt before, though. And with her daughter's illness, the last thing she needs right now is a man. But the power of Dai King is hard to resist. And when he threads his hands through her hair and pulls her in for a kiss, there is no denying it feels achingly right.

In a Land of Nightmares

After being trapped in the Shadowlands for centuries with the goblin horde a constant threat, Dai revels in his newfound freedom back in the human realm. But even with the centuries of magic he's accumulated, he still doesn't know how to heal Amanda's daughter — and it breaks his heart. Yet for the woman he loves, he'd risk anything ... including a retun to the Shadowlands.

My Review:

Amanda was married in a registry office and then three months later she was a pregnant widower.  Amanda Coulter is a single mother raising Brigit her asthmatic daughter with love.  At her sister-in-law Eliza Coulter's wedding to Roan King, Amanda and Brigit meet his brother Dai, a noted scholar.

Dai, like his sibling, survived his Druid millennia banishment in the Shadowlands by his compulsion for knowledge. He has finally returned to the human Fixed Realm where his magical experiments over the centuries have the Birch Trustees watching him carefully. The best man and the matron of honor are attracted to one another. However, his actions to keep Roan and other family members safe lead him believe he is unworthy of her while she knows Brigit comes first in her heart.

I really enjoyed how their love story slowly built up because Amanda hasn't been with another man since her husband died seven years ago and Dai isn't sure how to love or to be loved.  He was a former slave that was tortured mentally, physically, sexually and emotionally.  He's very damaged and is afraid he will hurt her.

My Review:

Roan is cursed to lived in the Shadowlands and known as the Goblin King.  He has a human heart and cursed to love everything gold.  He's slowly losing his sanity to become one of the goblins he hates with a passion!  When he meets Eliza he feels something he's not used to and will she be his salvation?

Eliza is in a terrible situation and she calls on the Goblin King to help her get out of it.  He takes her to the Shadowlands and plans on keeping her and making her his Queen.  Will she accept?  When she was a teenager he came to her rescue.

This book is a dark and sinister adult telling of a bleak and dismal place which I really enjoyed reading about.  The author did a good job of creating and describing a place no one would want to live in.

Dai was an interesting character with his sarcastic wit and we have something in common our love of books.
