ARC Review: Plain Fear: Forgiven: A Novel [Paperback]
I've finished "Plain Fear: Forgiven" the 3rd book in her Plain Fear series by Leanna Ellis.
What Must We Sacrifice to be Forgiven?
Samuel Fisher has committed a sin of biblical proportions — he killed his own brother, Jacob. Haunted by guilt and talked by a vampire out for his soul, Samuel starts down the same dark path of destruction that led to his brother's death.
A captivating coming-of-age story unlike any other, Plain Fear: Forgiven pits redemption against temptation, love against fear, and simple faith against the intricacies of sin and salvation. In the gripping final battle between hunters and vampires, Samuel must choose where his loyalties lie. The lives of those he loves — as well as his own ultimate forgiveness — hangs in the balance.

ARC Review: Plain Fear: Forbidden: A Novel [Paperback]
I've finished "Plain Fear: Forbidden" the 2nd book in her Plain Fear Amish series by Leanna Ellis.
Product Description
How Long Must We Pay for the Sins of Our Past?
She blames herself for her husband's death. But for Rachel Schmidt Nussbaum, redemption may only lie in the ultimate sacrifice.
When a stranger arrives claiming only she can save him, Rachel's impulsive instincts lead her on a perilous journey, one that leads her to a battle that will decide both the fate of her soul and the life of her unborn child.

My Review:
In Pennsylvania, Rachel Schmidt Nussbaum feels guilty about her husband's Josef's death in a road accident. Her family and community are there for her but she belives God is punishing her for her past wild sins.
She is over 7 months pregnant and when a stranger she knows tells her she can save Josef and him she decides to travel with him. She feels remorseful, confused and depressed and is willing to do anything for her husband. She doesn't realize the danger she is putting herself and her unborn child in until it's too late and who her savior would be.
I liked how we see more of Roc's characterization and how the death of his wife has influenced his determination to kill all the vampires. It was sad to see his depression after the death of a fellow vampire hunter but it was interesting to see his determination to destroy Akiva (aka Jacob).

My Review:
Hannah has been mourning Jacob for two years. She feels guilty for being attracted to his twin brother Levi. Levi has loved Hannah since the day he first saw her and would do anything to protect the women he loves.
A stranger arrives in town named Akiva and he has designs on Hannah but Levi is determined not to lose Hannah to the same darkness that took his brother Jacob.
This book was hauntingly captivating and truly scary at times. I thought Hannah was very vulnerable and still grieving that she didn't suspect that Akiva is actually Jacob and not human.
