PNR Review: A Tale of Two Vampires: A Dark Ones Novel [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "A Tale of Two Vampires" a book in the Dark Ones series by Katie MacAlister.
Product Description
Time isn’t always on a vampire’s side ....
Iolanthe Tennyson has had a very bad year — due in part to the very bad men in her life. So she’s accepted her cousin’s invitation to spend the summer in Austria to indulge her photography hobby. Rumors of a haunted forest there draw Iolanthe into the dark woods — and into the eighteenth century ....
Nikola Czerny is a cursed man, forced by his half brothers to live forever as a Dark One. But his miserable existence takes an intriguing turn when a strange, babbling woman is thrown in his path. Iolanthe claims to know Nikola’s daughter — three hundred years in the future. She also knows what fate — in the form of his murderous half brothers — has in store for him. If only she knew the consequences of changing the past to save one good, impossibly sexy vampire ...
About the Author
Ever the romantic, Katie MacAlister decided one day to write a story that included all her favorite literary elements — dishy guys, strong women, steamy love scenes, and lots and lots of humor. She’s been blessed to write more than forty books since that first one, and is always madly in love with her latest hero.

My Review:
Iolanthe Tennyson (known as Io) goes to stay with cousin Gretl in Austria for a couple of months after losing her job because of sexual harassment. She has always enjoyed photography and decides to take some pictures of a haunted forest. She accidentally goes through a portal which brings her back 300 years back in past.
Nikola Czerny was forced to become a Dark One after his two stepbrothers betrayed him. He finds Io on the side of the road after she run into one of his horses.
This was a very fast paced and hilarious light paranormal read with two likeable leads. The banter between Io and Nikola was very humorous and laugh out funny.

My Review:
Cora is still getting over the fact her husband dumped her and her sister married a vampire. After being banished to the Akasha after angering a demon lord she saves the life of a vampire.
Alec Darkwin a Dark One has been banished to the Akasha after killing the woman responsible for his wife's death. When he wakes up he finds a stranger offering him her blood and nearly kills her for it. He's puzzled to find himself attracted to Cora with signs that hint to a Beloved Bond which confuses him.
I didn't really connect with the heroine Cora because I didn't really like her at all. I didn't like the way she treated Alec like he was ant not as a decent human being/vampire.
I liked Alec who I thought was a hot, sexy and brooding dark vampire but I can't believe he would have a Beloved who would treat him like crap.

My Review:
I highly recommend reading the 1st book "Love in the Time of Dragons" because you need to know who the main characters are and the storyline (I haven't read the 1st book and I was kind of confused what was happening at first but it didn't take me long to figure out what was going on and who was who).
At the beginning of the book Ysolde has renewed her relationship with Baltic after centuries of separation. Her memories haven't all been erased and only some have come back in bits of pieces. She has alot to catch up with but Baltic is helping her though he is keeping some information from her. Some of the information is very important but he wants to protect her. They are still ouroboros from the weyr and at war with them. Ysolde has become good friends with Aisling and May and deeply feels the lost of connection with the dragon community. Baltic on the other hand doesn't want to work things out and wants the sept to be seperated.
Of course, Ysolde doesn't like this and among her priorities include clearing Baltic's name for crimes he was accused of, getting the interdiction lifted that is preventing her use of magic, solving a few new mysteries that come up along the way along with some of the old and getting the Light Dragon sept reinstated into the weyr. During the ride she has help from friends, even those that shouldn't be helping and she also acquires new enemies.
Glad to see former characters and seeing updates on their lives now. As always there is the usual chaotic and humorous storyline. Really happy to see Aisling, Drake, Gabriel and May.
Baltic and Ysolde's relationship is very steamy and they are very sure about each other. Baltic usually gives into Ysolde's demands but not without some protestation first.

Up in Smoke (Silver Dragons, Book 2) (Paperback)
I've just finished reading "Up in Smoke" the 2nd book in her Silver Dragon series by Katie MacAlister.
Product Description
Where there’s smoke, there’s one hot New York Times bestselling author.
Though May Northcott’s heart belongs to Gabriel, leader of the silver dragons, being stuck in Abaddon has significantly cooled down her love life. Especially since a demon lord is trying to woo her. Looks like May will have to barter to gain her freedom and fulfill her destiny by Gabriel’s side...
