PNR Review: Dead Ever After: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Dead After After" the 13th and last book in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.

Product Description

THE FINAL SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVEL

There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie — and could destroy her heart.

Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough.

My Review:

Well we have finally arrived to the 13th and finally book of Sookie's adventures but not everything is tied up so hopefully Charlaine will come back to Sookie universe.   I for one am sad to see Sookie's journey come to an end but I can't wait to see what Charlaine has for us up next.

At the beginning of the book we learn there is a plot against Sookie by people who are very angry with her.  They strike a deal with the devil in return for what ever they desire but with deadly consequences.

When Arlene a former barmaid and Sookie's ex-friend asks for her old job back Sookie turns her down flat easily because she hatched a plan to have Sookie killed.  Her relationship with Eric Northman seems to be turning for the worst.  Eric and his vampire coven are keeping their distance and giving her the cold shoulder.  When she learns the truth she is devastated.

Then a horrible murder is committed and Sookie is arrested for the crime.  The evidence against her is weak so she is able to post bail.  When she and her allies investigate the murder they uncover a conspiracy.

It was nice to see Sookie's friends and family helping in the investigation and supporting her (she really needed it).  I missed Bubba though!

Though I was satisfied that Sookie ended up with Sam I was hoping she would end up with Bill (he's one of my favorites).  I know that he betrayed her but you can see he does still love her.  Eric on the other hand his betrayal is much worst and hurtful (I for one am glad that Sookie let him go).

My Review:

I really enjoyed the short story at the beginning of the book and it was refreshing.

I'm glad that I read this companion book because it reintroduced us to the players of the books and I have to admit I forgot who some of them were but this reminded me who they were, etc.!  The family tree really helped me with who was related to who!

Definitely going to be trying out the recipes (they sure sound delicious)!  Yum!

Really happy to see the synopsis and recap of the earlier book because I kind of forgot what each was about!

PNR Review: Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 11) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Dead Reckoning" the 11th book in her Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.

Product Description

New in the #1 New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series-the basis for HBO(r)'s True Blood!

With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover Eric Northman and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot - which is much more complicated than she knows ...

My Review:

SPOILERS:

1.  We find out that Niall and Claude have been in touch
2.  Eric and Sookie have rough sex
3.  Eric manhandles Sookie by tearing into her neck after a fight!
4.  Eric's betrothed to the Queen of Oklahoma that can't be broken!
5.  Tension between Pam and Eric
6.  Major development between the blood bond between Sookie and Eric

Someone has firebombed Merlotte's and some drugged out thugs are sent after Sookie and attempt to kidnap her.  Sookie has to figure out who is after her and help Eric get out under Victor.

There's tension between Pam and Eric and Sookie knows she is part of it.  Pam also wants to create her own vampire kid but she needs permission.

Sookie knows she has changed and  isn't sure she likes what she has become.  Things are strained between Sookie and Eric and the cracks are showing.  This major development might just the thing to break them up once for all.

Bill makes cameo appearances and I'm hoping Sookie ends up with him.  You can see he still cares about Sookie and wants her back.  Alcide another of her suitors makes a surprising cameo!  Now that was a hilarious scene!

Sookie makes some surprising revelations about her family history and we find out where she got her telepathy.  Love her interactions with Hunter her nephew and Sam her boss.

Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 10) [Hardcover]

After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the brief but deadly Faery War, Sookie Stackhouse is hurt and she's angry. Just about the only bright spot in her life is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman. But he's under scrutiny by the new Vampire King because of their relationship. And as the political implications of the Shifters coming out are beginning to be felt, Sookie's connection to the Shreveport pack draws her into the debate. My Review:

When I first started reading this book it didn't seem like a Sookie book (hard to explain)!

SPOILERS:

Sookie is now dating Eric and there is still some issues there!

His sire comes to visit with a new boy-toy Alexi who is the brother of Anatasia of Romolov.  Alexi is a psycho vampire (he loves to kill for the thrill and enjoyment)!

Bill is getting better but still not in tip top shape.  He would feel alot better if he took some blood from his half-sister (Sookie writes a letter to her explaining about Bill).  Seems like the sister is in love with Bill!

Claude (Sookie's fairy cousin) is still around and is living temporarily in her house (having trouble living at his place because it reminds him of his sister Claudine who died in the previous book).  He's decided to protect Sookie because Claudine loved her!

Sookie inherits money from Claudine (she never expected anything and it was more then she thought when she found out)!

Her uncle is not quite right in the head but he decided to protect Sookie!

Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Dead and Gone" the 9th book in her Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.

Product Description

Now an HBO original series, True Blood - the New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series continues.

Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps-and nothing about weres.

Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works-and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it.

But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings-older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves-is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.

About the Author

Charlaine Harris writes both fantasies and mysteries.

My Review:

Storyline:  I enjoyed the storyline because I'm glad one of the victims is dead that person deserved it.

Characters: My favorite characters are Sookie, Bill, Bubba and Sam.

Romance:  Not much of a fan of Sookie & Eric.  Hmm not sure if he really loves her or not.  I really enjoyed the romance between Sookie & Bill.  I belive he's the better vamp and man for her.

Killer(s): One of the killers I never suspected and you learn a secret about them which came out of left field.  The other killers were one dimensional and you didn't really know them.
