PNR Review: Unleash the Night

I've finished "Unleash the Night" by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Product Description

It's a predator eat predator world for the Were-Hunters. Danger haunts any given day. There is no one to trust. No one to love. Not if they want to live.

An orphan with no clan that will claim him, Wren Tigarian grew to adulthood under the close scrutiny and mistrust of those around him. A forbidden blend of two animals ― snow leopard and white tiger ― Wren has never listened to anyone when there was something he wanted. Now he wants Marguerite.

Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau is the daughter of a prominent U.S. Senator who hates the socialite life she's forced to live. Like her mother before her, she has strong Cajun roots that her father doesn't understand. Still, she has no choice but to try and conform to a world where she feels like an outsider.

But the world of rich and powerful humans is never to meet the world of the Were-Hunters who exist side by side with them, unseen, unknown, undetected. To break this law is to call down a wrath of the highest order.

In order to have Marguerite, Wren must fight not just the humans who will never accept his animal nature, but the Were-Hunters who want him dead for endangering their world. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Marguerite and Wren not just their lives, but their very souls.

My Review:

Wren is an orphan and has lived at Sanctuary since childhood and is a loner.  His friend Nick is now dead and his companion is a monkey named Marvin (?)  Everyone is wary and scared of him since he's unpredictable!

Marguerite lets her dad run her life so she keeps a low profile and hangs around the privileged kids.

I hated Wren's mom with a passion (I'm pretty even tempered) but the way she treated Wren was just too much.  I'm glad she got what was coming to her!!!!

Manga Review: The Dark-Hunters: Infinity, Vol. 2 Paperback

I've finished "The Darkhunters: Infinity Vol. 2" by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Nick Gautier has enough trouble dealing with normal teenage problems: avoiding getting pummeled at school, talking to girls, staying out of trouble. Now Nick is facing a whole new world of challenges. As his powers develop, Nick sees supernatural (and potentially dangerous) creatures everywhere he looks. With the help of his Uncle Ambrose - who is actually Nick's future self communicating his thoughts across time - and his new tutor - the Grim Reaper - Nick must learn to control his abilities and elude the dark powers that seek to control him.

About the Author

The #1 New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon is a powerhouse with more than 25 million copies of her books in print in over 30 countries. My Review:

This book is even better than the first in the series. The book starts right after the first book when Nick and his friends defeated the zombies and the Mortents. Kyrian flashes some fangs and now Nick has to start mastering his powers because there's a bounty on his head. His love life has heated up and he has to choose between the girl he has pined for most of his life or the one that is friendly and seems to care about him.

On top of that the principal seems to have it out for him. Also the new coach recruits him for the team but also to do some devious extra curricular activities on the side. The demons are after him too!

We also see how Nick meets the Peltier clan and his mom starts working at Sanctuary. Some of the characters have witty sayings which made me laugh while reading.

Glad to see Mark and Bubba again along with Caleb and Nekoda. Some interesting new characters were introduced Grim, Pain and Suffering and I hope to see some more of them in future books.

Love Nick's smart ass and sarcastic remarks!

PNR Review: Cloak and Silence (The League) Paperback

I've finished "Cloak and Silence" by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

CLOAK and SILENCE — SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION

One of the fiercest soldiers the Phrixians have ever produced, Maris Sulle has been an outsider from the moment he was born different from the rest of his family. He grew up with a secret that cost him everything — his birthright, his family, and his military career. In all his life, he’s only had one love, and he has sacrificed his own happiness to see his best friend reunited with the woman he loves. But now that his good deed is done, he feels lost and adrift. Even though they do their best to include him in their new family, Maris is once again on the outside looking in. Ture has spent his life hiding from everyone around him — his family, the world, you name it — while trying desperately to fit in. Badly hurt by everyone he’s ever known, he trusts no one except his own best friend. And honestly, he can’t understand why he trusts her. Nor can he believe her when she describes a loyalty between friends the likes of which he’s never seen. But when Ture is in his darkest hour, he’s saved by a hero he thought only existed in novels. A man who is every bit as scarred and mistrusting as he is — one who has no interest in being dragged into another relationship with anyone. Having spent his life as a living study of doomed relationships, Maris is well aware of the courtship and fiasco that invariably follows. Still, there is something about Ture he can’t resist. Something that won’t let him walk away when he knows he should. But when old enemies return to threaten them both, they either have to stand together or die alone.

My Review:

I wished this was a bit longer I thought it was too short!

I really liked Maris when we were introduced to him as Darling Cruel's best friend and confidant.  I really wanted to learn about his past and we certainly did in this one (not a good one at that).

Loved that Ture is a chef and he successfully runs his own restaurant in spite of his past.  Glad that he got together with Maris they both deserve someone that loves them.

My Review:

I really like the latest development between Evalle and Storm's relationship because it's obvious he really loves her and will do anything to protect her.  I'm glad he's with her to help find Tristan and that was very generous of him to participate in that fighting match.

It was pretty interesting to find out Evalle's true origin and how that information affects her personally and professionally.

It's pretty cruel and sadistic how the Medb Queen treats her daughter Kizira and that isn't right.

PNR Review: Styxx (Dark-Hunter) Hardcover

I've finished "Styxx" the 23rd book in her Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Sherrilyn Kenyon's most highly-anticipated novel in the Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here — the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth

Just when you thought doomsday was over

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother’s side. They’ve spent more centuries going at each other’s throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he’s willing to trade his life and future for Acheron’s.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.

She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it’s hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

My Review:

Styxx's book is very heart wrenching with tales of torture, violence and all he had to endure from childhood to adulthood.  I've always had a soft spot for Styxx even though I didn't really like him that much.

Ryssa is such an awful sister who is vindictive, spoiled, rotten to the core and the apple of her father's eye.  I can't believe how she treats Ash and Styxx differently one she treats like a god and the other like dirt.  She sure got her comeuppance!

I really like how Sherrilyn handled the relationship between Ash and Styxx and I thought it was well written and descriptive.  Really glad they finally trust each other and will die for one another.

Not for the fate of heart because the child abuse, torture and violence are really brutal, cruel and extremely descriptive!

My Review:

I have always had a soft heart for Ash the sexy and mysterious leader of the Dark Hunters.  I'm glad that he didn't end up with Artemis because she is a piece of work and I truly think she can't love anyone).

The first part was very heart retching to read because of all the abuse, mentally, psychically and sexual that Ash had to endure in his human life beginning at a young age.  I really felt for him!  Man to train at the age of seven to service both men and women in every aspect.  I'm really glad that Ash had his half-sister Ryssa and his nephew who loved him unconditionally.

The second part revolves around Ash and Artemis and their relationship.  This is where we learn about his brutal death and his rebirth as a Dark Hunter.  I found this part kind of sad too because Artemis wouldn't stand up to her brother Apollo about Acheron or defend him or protect him when Apollo went after him.

The third part deals with the present day and the romance between Ash and Tory (from the Dream Hunters).  I didn't feel any chemistry between Ash and Tory and I believe their relationship was too fast.  I'm happy that Ash has finally found his HEA but I don't think Tory was the one for him.

We get brief glimpses of Nick and Jaden and I can't wait to read their storylines.

My Review:

Nick Gautier is now 16 years old and he has gotten his drivers license.  He is bummed out because he has just learned his girlfriend Kody was sent to kill him so he breaks up with her.

Then Casey a cheerleader starts coming onto him and his confidence starts going up and it looks like they might hook up romantically.  It looked like Brynna was interested in him as well.

Acheron played a big role and it was great to see their friendship grow though it's sad that we know what happens in the future.  We learn more about the background of some of the characters Kody and Caleb and we are introduced to some new characters like Tiyana another Devereaux sister.

The book ended with a cliff hanger and I can't wait to read the next one to find out what happens!

My Review:

Shahara Dagan is one of the best bounty hunters and she has accepted an assignment to bring in C.I. Syn to pay off her sister Tessa's medical bill.

Syn (aka Sheridan Digger Wade) is a trained assassin and has been on the run since he has discovered a truth that someone is determined to keep a secret.  Everyone believes he will be exactly like is father Irdian Wade a convicted killer.  He is surprised when he catches Shahara in his home and they engage in a fight which he subdues her.  They come to an agreement that she would cancel her contract to bring him in and they both go on their way.  But she betrays Sin and he is captured and tortured to an inch of his life.  When Shahara hears that Syn has been helping her brother Caillen and sister she realizes she has made a mistake.  She devises a way to break him out of jail and now both on the run.

I really loved Syn's character because even though he is an assassin he has a heart of gold and he helps people in need and really cares for family and friends.

Shahara on the other hand I didn't really like her character that much but I do admire that she learned skills how to take care of herself and took revenge on the person who hurt her.  I hated that she betrayed Syn without learning all the facts and delivered him to the enemies.

My Review:

Assassin Nykyrian Quikiades is also known as Nemesis a dark and deadly warrior with a reputation as a ruthless mercenary.  He has a dark secret:  he's admired and dreamed about Princess Kiara a beautiful and famous dancer.  He's feelings for Kiara helps him accept a contract to protect her from death's harm any way possible.  Then he and his friends become hunted by her father's people and The League.

Princess Kiara has a death contract against her because her father refuses to be intimidated by his enemies.  She feels very safe with Nykyrian but she doesn't trust him or his friends at first but then eventually she realizes they are the good guys.

I really liked Nykyrian with his dark and violent past (I really felt for him regarding his childhood and all the hardship he went through) and how it made him the man he is today.  He's very caring and helps innocent people and only kills ones that deserve it.  I thought Nykyrian could do a lot better!

Kiara on the other hand I couldn't stand her with her opinions and the way she treated Nykyrian and his friends.  She's not a worthy heroine for Nykyrian.

PNR Review: Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunters) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Dance With the Devil" the 4th book in her Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Product Description

Zarek's Point of View:

Dark-Hunter: A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I got was eternity and solitude.

Insanity: A condition many say I suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my insanity-I enjoy every minute of it.

Trust: I can't trust anyone ... not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.

Truth: I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold heart shatters.

Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?

My Review:

Zarek of Moesia is banished to Alaska after the events that happened in Talon's book.  Acheron pleads for his life and makes a deal with Artemis not to kill him.  She agrees that if Zarek is found innocent by Astrid one of the Greek judges she will let him live.  Astrid can sense a goodness in Zarek and is quite surprised by his kindness and gentleness with her.  In the process she falls in love with him and him with her.

Zarek is my favorite Dark Hunter and his book is one of my favorites.  Zarek is an example of dark and tortured hero with a good heart and honor.  He blames himself for the wrong doings that have happened to others even though he doesn't cause them.  He has been betrayed by his family and everyone that he trusts.  He doesn't think he is worthy of love and he even helps people who don't trust him.

Zarek is introduced in Talon's book Night Pleasures and he's also a recurring character.

PNR Review: Time Untime (Dark-Hunters) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Time Untime" 12th the book in her Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon comes the next thrilling installment in her blockbuster Dark-Hunter series.

The Mayans aren’t the only ones with a 2012 prophecy …

Long before recorded history, there was a Keetoowah warrior so feared that everyone trembled before his wrath. Only a brutal betrayal by the one closest to him could defeat him. But not even death was the end of a man so strong.

The Time Untime approaches …

Kateri Avani has been plagued her entire life with dreams she doesn’t understand. Images of places she’s never been and of a man she’s never seen. Her quest for answers has driven her to Las Vegas where she hopes to finally silence the demons in her mind.

What she never anticipates is coming face to face with the warrior who has haunted her her entire life. One who belongs to a world the scientist in her refuses to believe is real.

Ren Waya came back from the dead to keep the prophecy he began from coming true and ending the world. For thousands of years, he has fought the same evil that once possessed him. But now that evil has found the one person he can’t fight. The one person who, against his will, holds the most sacred part of him.

His heart.

But if he doesn’t kill Kateri, the deadliest of evils will reemerge and destroy everyone else on the planet. It was a sacrifice he made once.

Will he be able to make it again?

My Review:

Ren Waya (short for Renegade) is the son of a Mayan Chieftain and a Greek Goddess but nursed by a demon.  He was unwanted by his father and ridiculed and excluded from his tribe because of his heritage and stutter.  In his past life he was known as the Keetoowah warrior Guardian who guarded was chosen to keep hell sealed while resetting the celestial calendar.  He allowed his body to be possessed by great evil which resulted in him making a huge mistake and people to fear him even after 11,000 years have passed.

He allowed a women to get close to him and he learned she was an agent who worked for evil.  She lead him down the wrong path and he was possessed by The Grizzly Spirit who made him a very deadly weapon.  His half-brother Coyote killed him and Artemis has made him immortal to make up for all his wrong doings and get revenge.

Kateri Avani is an archaelogist whose grandmother left her a precious stone to protect as the Keeper of Legend.  Teri never believed her grandmother's superstitions until she is attacked by malevolent beasts she has second thoughts.  Lucky for her Ren and his some of his friends Sundown, Acheron, Sasha, Urian and Nick. are there to help.  When she meets Ren she recognizes him as the man who has haunted her dreams but she's not sure if he's her savior or the one who kills her.

I really enjoyed the elements of the Native American and Mayan history interwoven with the Greek pantheon.  Really glad to meet up with old friends Talon and Sunshine (Teri's cousin and that was a surprise) again.

I admire Ren for becoming the man he is today even after all the torture and humiliation he went through as a child and young man.

My Review:

Darling Cruel is the heir to the Caronese Empire but his uncle Arturo assassinated his father and committed fratricide.  Over a long period of time his uncle Arturo has brutally, physically and sexually abused him.  Darling has taken the abuse and pretended to be gay to keep his mother Natalie and his two younger siblings Drake and Lise safe.  He is now 28 years old and is still seen as a minor and controlled by his uncle. Darling has a dark secret - he's known as the legendary masked Sentella warrior Kere.  No one has seen this man unmasked except for Zarya.

Zarya Starska is the Resistance leader and her one main goal since her family has been killed is to destroy and annihilate the viscious family who killed them.  She has allied herself with Kere but when the Resistance capture him and treat him like a piece of meat (just like his uncle) he vows vengeance against them and his uncle.

Born of Silence is full of action, intrigue at every corner and romance.  Darling was an intriguing hero who shows signs of insanity at times but Zarya brings him back.  I'm glad that Darling has a great friend in Maris who is in love with him to take care care of him.   He wants Darling to be happy so he brings Darling and Zarya together to help work their problems out since he knows they love each other.

We see previous characters from the other books and I really like how they consider Darling as family.  Love their interactions.

YA Review: Infamous: Chronicles of Nick [Hardcover]

Product Description

The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters.

Now Nick’s saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume.

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive and keep a girlfriend so dang hard? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself.

My Review:

Nick has grown up in this book and has taken his responsibilities more seriously.

Ambrose Nick's adult form informs his teenage self that he needs to alter his course of destiny or he would destroy the world.  He also lets him know that he was destined to meet Kyrian and Ash and in the future someone he loves will die - either his mom or his girl Kody on their wedding night depending on his actions.  He also learns why he can be saved.

One day as Nick, Caleb and Kody walk into their homeroom they discover something amiss is happening.  Pictures of Brynna Adams that are photo shopped are posted on the web (doing naughty things including with animals) and other students are posting rumors and putting letters of innuendo on another's locker (saying he is gay).  Nick makes it his mission to get to the bottom of this and find out who is responsible.

Nick has to fight demons and also visits Azmodea where he meets Asmodeus, Thorn and some other interesting characters.  He also meets his father Adrian Malachai who is trying to kill him but seems to love his mother.  Nick also makes a pact with someone that Ambrose disproves of - will Nick learn to regret it?

It was great to see some old friends Ash, Kyrian, Simi, Dev, Wren, etc.  Loved the scenes when Nick and Wren interact.

The only thing I didn't like was Nick's mother Cherise in this book - she was nice and sweet to everyone else but would treat Nick like he was a baby and delinquent.  She didn't trust him and talked down to him.

Watch the Infamous Trailer!

PNR Review: The Guardian (Dream-Hunter) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "The Guardian" the 5th book in her Dream-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

My Review:

Seth is half-Egyptian God but both his parents banished him.  He was then adopted by a tribe of jackals who then betrayed him to the primordial god Noir for a .  He has been punished and tortured for centuries to the point of death.

Noir has ordered Seth to torture Dream-Hunter Solin to get him to tell him where the key to Olympus is.  Solin is rescued by his daughter Lydia who is half Kattagarian and half Dream-Hunter.  She then becomes Seth's prisoner which forces Solin to go get the key.  While in captivity Lydia learns why Seth acts the way he does, falls in love with him and wants to show him that love can conquer all.

I really felt for Seth the daily tortures he went through and I thought Zarek had it bad.  He's broken and always suffering pain from his injuries.  Glad to see Zarek made an appearance in this book (always happy to see him).  Also a cameo arrival at Sanctuary which characters we love also make an appearance.

Lydia is such a strong heroine because she's strong, can take care of herself and a smart-ass.  She didn't take any flak from Seth and would show him that not everyone is out to get him.

Really enjoyed the more information we found about how Nick's and the Malachai role in taking over the world is incorporated.

We also learn how Menyara, a.k.a., Ma'at, the Egyptian goddess of justice is associated with Seth.

I thought this book was a wonderful blending of the dark and the Dream Hunter world.

Born of Shadows (The League) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Born of Shadows" the 4th book in her League series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Product Description

In a world where the League and its assassins rule, where betrayal and treachery are everywhere . . . the only survivors are those ones who are . . .

BORN OF SHADOWS

For Caillen Dagan, a defiant soldier of fortune, survival isn't a right, it's a brutal daily battle. Moving through the Ichidaian universe like a wraith, his brushes with the law and death are legendary. Ferocious and determined, Desideria serves as an official bodyguard for her queen. Born of questionable genetics, she will do anything to prove herself worthy of the weapons she carries and the position she's won by combat. But when she uncovers a ruthless plot to assassinate the queen and overthrow her country's government, Desideria is caught in the crosshairs.

With assassination contracts out on both of them, Caillen and Desideria must learn to fight together or die alone. And if they fail, their governments will fall into the hands of an unimaginable evil.

My Review:

Caillen is an obnoxious jerk but a loveable one with an overly-healthy sex drive, but underneath his bad boy attitude he is such a sweetheart.  Loved the way he would protect his sisters and gladly strangle them anytime but would rip anyone else in two.  He is quick tempered and very stubborn.

Desideria is tough, smart, beautiful but has confidence issues. Since her father's death, she has lived with the constant criticisms of all of her female relatives and has received no love from anyone. She is as quick tempered and stubborn as Caillen.  Desideria comes from a society where women are warriors and are very violent.

This book was very fast paced from the first page to the last page and a lot is going on from the assassination attempts.

The constant bickering between Caillen and Desideria is very fun and fast paced.  Also loved the way the characters switched into easy bantering during live and death situations.

ISBN-13: 978-1439155820

My Review:

Evalle is an anomaly among anomalies. She has a heritage that links her to the Belador tribe, but is treated like an outcast because of her lack of pure blood. To others she is known as an Alterant. This is the name given to half-breed Beladors who have the ability to shift into a beast and endanger society. Evalle has no idea what else her genetic makeup is composed of. She was raised by an aunt who kept her locked in the basement, and her lips sealed shut when it came to questions about Evalle's absent parents. Evalle now works for an organization that helps to keep the non-humans in Atlanta under control. She also continues to try to prove herself to her tribe. Evalle is constantly trying to show them she isn't like the others that have been locked away, and that she has control over the beast inside her. Now a suspicious murder has taken place, and Evalle will have to prove yet again she wasn't involved, while also preventing the foreseen destruction of the world as she knows it.

Evalle has only a handful of people she trusts. Two of the three are fellow agents for the supernatural-police-type organization she works for, VIPER. Her boss, Sen, hates her for what she is and would love to have her locked up too. It comes to the attention of VIPER that a powerful stone is about to come into the possession of a powerful female. It can bring great change or destruction if left unchecked, so agents (including Evalle) are sent out to find it.

Evalle is paired with a mysterious man named Storm. She believes he is a plant, sent in by Sen to find a reason to lock her up. But there is more to Storm than meets the eye and there is definitely attraction there. There is also a spark between Evalle and a sexy human, Isak.

Evalle was such a great character because she didn't take any flak from any of the Beladors or any of the higher ups and she's such a kick ass character.  Loved that she has two love interests (one that really understands what's she's going through being an outcast and the other when he finds out what she is!!!!!!) Can't wait to see that scene!

I really like Tzader and Quinn two of her fellow agents and friends and especially Feenix her pet Gargoyle who has a potty mouth!  Those were such hilarious scenes!

This book is very action packed right from the first page to the end page and I highly recommend reading this series if you fast paced, well written characters and storyline!

My Review:

Just Bad Enough part of their BAD series) - Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love

We meet undercover agent Jeremy Sunn who has the hots for CeCe. But as part of his cover he has a rap sheet a mile long and acts the playboy with a series of women. But since meeting CeCe he wants a real relationship. Unfortunately, she seems to be putting him off because CeCe has secrets of her own. She has ties to criminals that she has been running away from. When CeCe unknowingly hides an important memory disc she and Jeremy must fight a deadly killer who wants it.

Jeremy was a sexy hero who was really dedicated in eliminating the enemy and protecting CeCe .  CeCe was your typical helpless female who needs the strong and sexy heroine to save her all the time!

Leave No Trace

In Leave No Trace Cindy Gerard demonstrates her mastery of the suspense thriller. David Cavanaugh is tired of his undercover work for the CIA. He desperately wants to retire but when a colleague asks Cav to find his missing friend (Carrie Granger) he reluctantly agrees. Cav arrives in Myanmar where he discovers Carrie has been caught up in a bungled arrest. To cover up their mistake the government has thrown her in their ruby mines where she labors as a virtual slave. To free her Cav must pretend to work with the corrupt government in Myanmar. Can Carrie learn to trust him or will this rescue mission end in tragedy for them both?

This was a very fast paced story which I really enjoyed reading with all the explosive action.  You can feel the tension between Cav and Carrie and it was really steamy!  Cav's character was really dashing and Carrie was a great heroine because she's not your typical female (she was kick-ass) and she want toe to toe with the soldiers!

Unstoppable

In Unstoppable Laura Griffin writes a story that is part of her exhilarating Tracers series. This story starts out with action that immediately caught my attention. Gage is a navy SEAL who has been injured. While recovering he is asked by his commanding officer to guard his niece, Dr. Kelsey Quinn. Kelsey is working at an archeological dig where a woman has been shot nearby and there has been a break in. But she believes in her work and knows she can take care of herself. She resents the sexy Quinn `babysitting' her. But when they find fresh, new bones instead of old ones and a secret tunnel both realize that something dangerous is going on. But can they solve the mystery before the killers find them?

Gage was a sexy and hot hero and Kelsey was also another kick-ass heroine.  It was a pleasant surprise to find out what the plot was about!

No Mercy (Dark-Hunter) [Hardcover]

I've finished "No Mercy" a book in her Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Product Description

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

My Review:

I highly recommend this latest book in her Dark Hunter series if you like well written characters with a great storyline.

I really like Dev as a character because under all that macho lies a bear who wants love and children (he wants what his parents shared)!  He's very protective of Aimee and you learn what happened to his two older brothers Gilbert and .  At the beginning of the book he is still dealing with the death of his parents!

Samia's true warrior character is a sight to behold (she's a great swordwomen among other things) since she's a former Amazon Queen.  Her story is very sad and I'm glad she did get her revenge!

I really loved the interactions between Dev and Samia especially when they were flirting because it was really funny and well written.  You can definately feel the heat between them.
