Historical Review: Not Proper Enough (A Reforming the Scoundrels Romance) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Not Proper Enough" the 2nd book in her Reforming Scoundrels series by Carolyn Jewel.

Product Description

Meant to be?

The Marquess of Fenris has loved Lady Eugenia from the day he first set eyes on her. Five years ago, pride caused him to earn her enmity. Now she's widowed, and he's determined to make amends and win her heart. But with their near explosive attraction, can he resist his desire long enough to court her properly?
After the death of her beloved husband, Lady Eugenia Bryant has come to London to build a new life. Despite the gift of a medallion said to have the power to unite the wearer with her perfect match, Eugenia believes she won't love again. And yet, amid the social whirl of chaperoning a young friend through her first Season, she finds a second chance at happiness.

Unfortunately, the Marquess of Fenris threatens her newfound peace. Eugenia dislikes the man, but the handsome and wealthy heir to a dukedom is more charming than he has a right to be. Constantly underfoot, the rogue disturbs her heart, alternately delighting and scandalizing her. And when their relationship takes a highly improper turn, Eugenia must decide if the wrong man isn’t the right one after all.

My Review:
Lady Eugenia is the sister of Mountjoy the hero of the first book Not Wicked Enough (he's a duke) who married Lily (Fenris's cousin) the heroine.

In the past before Eugenia and Robert were married, Fenris believed he should have someone more worthy because of his title.  Robert meets, falls in love and marries Eugenia but Fenris really disapproves and tries to prevent this from happening but all it did was ruin his friendship with Robert and insult Eugenia.  As a result she distrusts, resents and hates him.  Fenris is quite attracted to Eugenia.

Five years later Robert is dead and Eugenia is determined to get on with her life and try to forget her grief.  She is in London to help Hester Randell to be introduced to society and suitors.  Fenris still quite attracted to Eugenia is determined to make amends for his past sins and to get her to accept and forgive him.

You can really see that Eugenia really cherishes and loves Robert her first husband and how hard it is for her to compare another man to him.

This historical was a fun, hot and sensual read from the time Fenris pursues Eugenia to the very end.  It was a pretty thrilling and intense with a wicked bantering between both of them.

Historical Review: Not Wicked Enough (Reforming the Scoundrels) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Not Wicked Enough" the 1st book in her Reforming the Scoundrels series by Carolyn Jewel.

Product Description

When Lily Wellston heads to the Bitterward Estate to comfort her widowed friend Eugenia she certainly does not have romance in mind. In fact the playful but level-headed Lily is amused to no end when, en route, a gypsy gifts her with a beautiful medallion, claiming it will ensnare the romantic desires of a stranger.

But Fate has other plans in the form of Eugenia's ruggedly handsome brother, the Duke of Mountjoy. One day at Bitterward and Lily can't deny the sizzling attraction between her and the roguish duke. Nothing can come of it, of course. She's not looking for entanglements and he's practically engaged. But whether it's her outgoing nature and the duke's outlandish ways sparking off one another; or the mysterious gypsy medallion working "magic" -- hearts are stirring in the most unexpected and wicked ways ...

My Review:

It's 1816 and Lily Wellstone comes to Mountjoy to comfort her best friend Ginny whose husband just died.  On the way a Gypsy gives her a medallion and claiming it will lead her to a romance with a stranger.  She arrives late at night in the rain and meets Ginny's older brother "The Duke of Mountjoy" while inherited the title and estate.  She knows she will never love again after losing her first love and she scoffs at this prediction she will find another love though she is wildly attracted to the handsome and fascinating Duke.

The Duke of Mountjoy was a former farmer who was raised with his brother and sister and never thought he would be a Duke.  He is staying at the estate to keep his sister Ginny company but he has become comfortable with his position of keeping the lands and his tenants quite happy and satisfied but it has left him short sighted of his sister's grief and what's expected of a man in his position.

I really loved the details that was researched for the fashion of this era.  Lily was a fashion hound and must be dressed up for each occasion and it was a delight to read about the details.  It was a hoot that Mountjoy didn't really have a sense of fashion and Lily was shocked by it - especially that certain coat.

The romance between Lily and Mountjoy was very hot and steamy from the first encounter of foreplay to the last.

I really liked Lily because she is smart, independent, confident, stylish, caring and fun-loving but proper.

I really liked Mountjoy because he didn't care how he looked and he takes his responsibilities very seriously.

Favorite quotes:

"I adore your cock.  He's lovely and awe-inspiring.

He tastes delicious, and I love the sound you make when I kiss him.

I'd rather kiss your cock, your grace."

My Review:

Paisley has worked hard to keep her bakery business running for two years when a seemingly nice man turns out to be a psychotic stalker and demon.  Her world turns upside down and now she must rely on her hot and sexy landlord Iskander.

She finds out she can hear witches that Scream (she can hear the souls they killed screaming) and she can free the souls they have killed and she also is resistant to magic or indwelling (where demons or any magic beings try to take over her mind).

The love scenes between Iskander and Paige are really hot, steamy and sexy!  I really like them together because he doesn't push Paige into doing stuff she's not really into or comfortable with.  He also understands what she is going through, he really cares and wants to protect her and besides he loves her food.  Paige also understands and accepts Iskander isn't human and she really cares for him too and loves to pamper him with food, etc.!

This book is a wonderful blend of action/magic and romance.

I can't wait to read Dr. Marit's and Kynan's books!

My Review:
Gray has escaped from Christophe dit Menart with the help of fiend Tigran and is seeking Nikodemus, the Demon Warlord of the free fiends. She wants vengeance against the magekind Christophe who killed her lover Tigran and murdered her sister. Unfortunately, she knows nothing of the gifts Titgran gave her and knows she needs help, to learn how to use them to get her revenge on Christophe.

Durian a demon assassin agrees to teach her how to manage Tigran's magic but she must pledge her loyalty to him.  He considers her a loose canon but doesn't want to kill her.

I highly recommend this series if you like fast paced well written story with great characterization.

Durian is one sexy assassin who never loses his cool and Gray is someone I could relate too (I would of taken my chance of killing Christophe in the same places she tried).
