PNR Review: Blood Fury: Black Dagger Legacy
I've finished "Blood Fury" the 3rd book in her Black Dagger Legacy series by J.R. Ward.
Product Description
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this sexy paranormal romance novel set in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward tells the story of two couples — both fighting to find love in the midst of the war with the Lessening Society.
A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thought he’d found his perfect match — until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.
Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody — and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.
As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with a connection that is unparalleled — and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love and cost Saxton everything?

PNR Review: Unleash the Night
I've finished "Unleash the Night" by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Product Description
It's a predator eat predator world for the Were-Hunters. Danger haunts any given day. There is no one to trust. No one to love. Not if they want to live.
An orphan with no clan that will claim him, Wren Tigarian grew to adulthood under the close scrutiny and mistrust of those around him. A forbidden blend of two animals ― snow leopard and white tiger ― Wren has never listened to anyone when there was something he wanted. Now he wants Marguerite.
Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau is the daughter of a prominent U.S. Senator who hates the socialite life she's forced to live. Like her mother before her, she has strong Cajun roots that her father doesn't understand. Still, she has no choice but to try and conform to a world where she feels like an outsider.
But the world of rich and powerful humans is never to meet the world of the Were-Hunters who exist side by side with them, unseen, unknown, undetected. To break this law is to call down a wrath of the highest order.
In order to have Marguerite, Wren must fight not just the humans who will never accept his animal nature, but the Were-Hunters who want him dead for endangering their world. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Marguerite and Wren not just their lives, but their very souls.

My Review:
Wren is an orphan and has lived at Sanctuary since childhood and is a loner. His friend Nick is now dead and his companion is a monkey named Marvin (?) Everyone is wary and scared of him since he's unpredictable!
Marguerite lets her dad run her life so she keeps a low profile and hangs around the privileged kids.
I hated Wren's mom with a passion (I'm pretty even tempered) but the way she treated Wren was just too much. I'm glad she got what was coming to her!!!!

PNR Review: Shadowdance (Darkest London) Mass Market Paperback
I've finished "Shadowdance" the 4th book in her Darkest London series by Kristen Callihan.
Once a heart is lost in shadow
Life has been anything but kind to Mary Chase. But the Society for the Suppression of Supernaturals has given her purpose. Now she's been tasked with catching a vicious murderer dubbed the Bishop of Charing Cross. But someone is already on the case-and the last thing he relishes is a partner.
Only someone who lives in darkness can find it.
Jack Talent has been alone with his demons for many years.
He never expected to have the willful Mary Chase assist him on the Bishop case. Their age-old rivalry reaches new heights - even as their desire for one another reaches a fever pitch. Though he aches to bring her close, Jack's dark secrets are a chasm between them. With dangerous enemies closing in, Jack must find the strength to face the past or risk losing Mary forever.
About the Author
Kristen Callihan is a child of the eighties, which means she's worn neon skirts, black lace gloves, and combat boots (although never all at once) and can quote John Hughes movies with the best of them. A lifelong daydreamer, she finally realized that the characters in her head needed a proper home and thus hit the keyboard. She believes that falling in love is one of the headiest experiences a person can have, so naturally she writes romance. Her love of superheroes, action movies, and history led her to write historical paranormals. She lives in the Washington, D.C., area and, when not writing, looks after two children, one husband, and a dog - the fish can fend for themselves.

Mary Chase is in training to become a SOS Regulator and she has volunteered for her first case which involves the Bishop of Charing Cross. The demon has been murdering people for months and Jack has been investigating for about year but hasn't been able to solve the case. Then the SOS receive some disturbing news: Jack is the deadly Bishop.
Even though Mary is attracted to Jack she has vowed to bring him down even though she figured out he was only murdering to exact revenge against the ones who hurt and tortured him in the past.
I highly recommend this book if you a dark and intriguing storyline, angst and sexual attraction that will blow your mind away and well-written characters.

PNR Review: Dark Wolf (Carpathian) Hardcover
I've finished "Dark Wolf" the 25th book in her Carpathian series by Christine Feehan.
WHERE DARK LYCAN ENDED, DARK WOLF BEGINS
BOOK NUMBER 25 IN CHRISTINE FEEHAN'S ACCLAIMED CARPATHIAN SERIES
In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.
Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming.
No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri — as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.
INCLUDES A PREVIEW OF CHRISTINE FEEHAN’S NEXT CARPATHIAN NOVEL, DARK BLOOD

My Review:
Finally we get the book that everyone has been anticipating is Skyler and Dimitri's book.
At the end of Dark Lycan Dimitri was captured and tortured by the Lycan's just because of his mixed blood. In Dark Wolf it has been two weeks since Dimitri was taken and Skyler with her two best friends Joseph (a Carpathian) and Paul (a human) sets out to free him since she doesn't believe a rescue team has been sent. When they finally reach Dimitri that is when most of the action starts.
I really like Skyler because she is courageous, spunky and despite the horrible experience she had during childhood she has overcome her fear of loving someone.
I really like Dimitri because he understood why Skyler had to rescue him. I also liked how he didn't claim her as a lifemate since he knew wasn't ready.

My Review:
Corbin Blue works as a black ops agent and he has a reputation as a playboy. He is one of the most powerful otherworlders, wealthy and a famous football player. He has always been attracted to Evangeline but he considers her off limits because she's the bosses daughter.
Evangeline has left the assassin world behind after a job got botched and is now a doctor. She agrees to work with Corbin after finding out her father is missing. She's been attracted to Blue but she doesn't appreciate his playboy status.
I didn't really like Evangeline because she has a prickly and sarcastic personality when dealing with Corbin. I admire her too because she does speak her mind and isn't afraid to use her smartness when needed.

I really like the latest development between Evalle and Storm's relationship because it's obvious he really loves her and will do anything to protect her. I'm glad he's with her to help find Tristan and that was very generous of him to participate in that fighting match.
It was pretty interesting to find out Evalle's true origin and how that information affects her personally and professionally.
It's pretty cruel and sadistic how the Medb Queen treats her daughter Kizira and that isn't right.

PNR Review: Styxx (Dark-Hunter) Hardcover
I've finished "Styxx" the 23rd book in her Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Sherrilyn Kenyon's most highly-anticipated novel in the Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here — the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth
Just when you thought doomsday was over
Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.
As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother’s side. They’ve spent more centuries going at each other’s throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he’s willing to trade his life and future for Acheron’s.
The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.
She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.
Yet it’s hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

My Review:
Styxx's book is very heart wrenching with tales of torture, violence and all he had to endure from childhood to adulthood. I've always had a soft spot for Styxx even though I didn't really like him that much.
Ryssa is such an awful sister who is vindictive, spoiled, rotten to the core and the apple of her father's eye. I can't believe how she treats Ash and Styxx differently one she treats like a god and the other like dirt. She sure got her comeuppance!
I really like how Sherrilyn handled the relationship between Ash and Styxx and I thought it was well written and descriptive. Really glad they finally trust each other and will die for one another.
Not for the fate of heart because the child abuse, torture and violence are really brutal, cruel and extremely descriptive!

PNR Review: Dead Ever After: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood) [Hardcover]
I've finished "Dead After After" the 13th and last book in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.

THE FINAL SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVEL

But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.
Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

My Review:
Well we have finally arrived to the 13th and finally book of Sookie's adventures but not everything is tied up so hopefully Charlaine will come back to Sookie universe. I for one am sad to see Sookie's journey come to an end but I can't wait to see what Charlaine has for us up next.
At the beginning of the book we learn there is a plot against Sookie by people who are very angry with her. They strike a deal with the devil in return for what ever they desire but with deadly consequences.
When Arlene a former barmaid and Sookie's ex-friend asks for her old job back Sookie turns her down flat easily because she hatched a plan to have Sookie killed. Her relationship with Eric Northman seems to be turning for the worst. Eric and his vampire coven are keeping their distance and giving her the cold shoulder. When she learns the truth she is devastated.
Then a horrible murder is committed and Sookie is arrested for the crime. The evidence against her is weak so she is able to post bail. When she and her allies investigate the murder they uncover a conspiracy.
It was nice to see Sookie's friends and family helping in the investigation and supporting her (she really needed it). I missed Bubba though!
Though I was satisfied that Sookie ended up with Sam I was hoping she would end up with Bill (he's one of my favorites). I know that he betrayed her but you can see he does still love her. Eric on the other hand his betrayal is much worst and hurtful (I for one am glad that Sookie let him go).

PNR Review: Edge of Dawn: A Midnight Breed Novel
I've finished "Edge of Dawn" the 11th book in her Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.
Product Description
In this pulse-pounding and thrillingly sensual novel, Lara Adrian returns to the mesmerizing world of the Midnight Breed, following new characters into a dark future where an uneasy peace can unravel into war — and a great betrayal can mask an all-consuming love.
Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn — when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them — the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.
Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift — and even lethal — justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.
Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again — or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides — between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts.
My Review:
This book is about Mira and Kellan who we were introduced to when they both were kids. They became instant friends and grew up together and finally consummated their love the night before Kellan died.
Kellan has been dead for 8 years and it's the anniversary of his death which Mira is still coping with. She is having trouble getting past his death and that night she goes berserk on a rebel she believes is the cause of his death. Lucan demotes her and assigns her babysit a peculiar scientist who is going to speak at a conference. When she goes to pick him up she interrupts his kidnapping by a rebel group and as a result gets kidnapped too. They are lead by a man named Bowman aka Kellan Archer.
Then we learn what has be going on with Kellan during those years and what he has been doing recently. My heart was breaking for him and Mira because every time they try to be together something tears them apart again. Her sight has always been a curse especially for them.
You can feel how much they love each other since they are each others first and only love.
It was a fun delight to see all the sons and even daughter of the original members all grown up and fighting alongside each other.

ISBN-13: 978-0451239358
My Review:
Qhuinn and Blay are the main storyline but there are four others interwoven into theirs:
1. Xcor and Layla
2. Assail and Sola
3. Trez/IM and a Chosen
4. Xcor and The Band of Bastards
If you haven't started this series the romance between Qhuinn and Blay started in Lover Enshrined with a hot kiss between the two. They have been best friends since childhood who have been there for each other for love and support but that almost was severed when Blay's feelings for Qhuinn nurtured into an attraction which Qhuinn couldn't handle knowing that Blay wanted him as a lover.
Qhuinn resisted and pushed Blay away by putting up a front that he couldn't be gay or even remotely attracted to men and he enjoyed having sex with woman. We learn he was banished from his family because of different colored eyes one green and the other blue though I don't believe that was the only reason. This pushed Qhuinn to embrace being a man by doing manly things like getting tattoos, piercings, working out, etc.
This caused Blay to turn to Saxton Qhuinn's cousin as his first male lover (Lover Mine) and Qhuinn took Layla a Chosen's virginity during her needing because they both wanted a child of their own to love (Lover Reborn). Saxton has made it clear that Blay isn't spoken for but Qhuinn thinks it's too late to claim him.
In Lover At Last Blay is in a long-term committed relationship with Saxton and Qhuinn has finally admitted to himself and Layla that he loves Blay. Their relationship is broken because Blay treats Qhuinn with scorn and disdain and they can't even have a civil conversation.
Saxton breaks up with Blay because he's fallen in love with him but knows it won't be returned ever (though it hurts he will recover). Saxton seems to be getting over Blay by sleeping with someone else and enjoying the nightlife while visiting his aunt.
Meanwhile it looks like Layla is losing the baby and Qhuinn is taking it very hard. Blay is there for support and Qhuinn begs him to use him to get back at Saxton for cheating on him. Blay can't stand to see Qhuinn in so much pain so he asks Payne to help with Layla and it looks like she is still pregnant.
Boy do Qhuinn and Blay get it on - many times and it was so hot and sexy (the lube thing didn't bother me because they both were really into it). Especially the furniture breaking and the couch scenes. I really liked the last chapter I thought it was really tender and caring. I can't wait till their mating ceremony and hopefully that is in the next book!
I wish that Blay was honest with Qhuinn about the status of his relationship with Saxton sooner (though I understand why he didn't - he's trying to protect himself). I also wished that Qhuinn told Blay how he felt about him instead of keeping it to himself which would have prevented the problem and they would have been together sooner.
Favorite Quotes:
Blay:
"Just so we're clear, your cousin is giving me what I need. All day long. Every day."
"You disgust me". "You need to get the "___" out of my life." You stay the hell out of my business!"
"Aren't you going to ask me why Saxton and I were never going to work?"
"Because I was, and I remain, utterly and completely and totally ... in love with you."
"Back off!" "He's with me." "We are!"
"You suck!"
Qhuinn:
"Yes I do, don't I?" "And you like me to."
Blay's parents:
"People! For the virgin sribes sake! My beautiful, healthy, smart, priceless son is gay - this is nothing to mourn!"
"I couldn't be happier for you both!"
"This is so wonderful. I have another son - two sons! Come here, I have to hug you. Two sons!"
5/5 - Qhuinn and Blay
4/5 - Rest of the story

My Review:
I have always had a soft heart for Ash the sexy and mysterious leader of the Dark Hunters. I'm glad that he didn't end up with Artemis because she is a piece of work and I truly think she can't love anyone).
The first part was very heart retching to read because of all the abuse, mentally, psychically and sexual that Ash had to endure in his human life beginning at a young age. I really felt for him! Man to train at the age of seven to service both men and women in every aspect. I'm really glad that Ash had his half-sister Ryssa and his nephew who loved him unconditionally.
The second part revolves around Ash and Artemis and their relationship. This is where we learn about his brutal death and his rebirth as a Dark Hunter. I found this part kind of sad too because Artemis wouldn't stand up to her brother Apollo about Acheron or defend him or protect him when Apollo went after him.
The third part deals with the present day and the romance between Ash and Tory (from the Dream Hunters). I didn't feel any chemistry between Ash and Tory and I believe their relationship was too fast. I'm happy that Ash has finally found his HEA but I don't think Tory was the one for him.
We get brief glimpses of Nick and Jaden and I can't wait to read their storylines.

PNR Review: Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld) [Hardcover]
I've finished "Thirteen" the last book in her Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong.
Product Description
The #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong delivers the novel her fans have been clamoring for: Thirteen, the epic finale of the Otherworld series.
It’s been more than ten years, a dozen installments, and hundreds of thousands of copies since Kelley Armstrong introduced readers to the all-too-real denizens of the Otherworld: witches, werewolves, necromancers, vampires, and half-demons, among others. And it’s all been leading to Thirteen, the final installment, the novel that brings all of these stories to a stunning conclusion.
A war is brewing — the first battle has been waged and Savannah Levine is left standing, albeit battered and bruised. She has rescued her half brother from supernatural medical testing, but he’s fighting to stay alive. The Supernatural Liberation Movement took him hostage, and they have a maniacal plan to expose the supernatural world to the unknowing.
Savannah has called upon her inner energy to summon spells with frightening strength, a strength she never knew she had, as she fights to keep her world from shattering. But it’s more than a matter of supernaturals against one another — both heaven and hell have entered the war; hellhounds, genetically modified werewolves, and all forces of good and evil have joined the fray.
Uniting Savannah with Adam, Paige, Lucas, Jaime, Hope, and other lost - but-notforgotten characters in one epic battle, Thirteen is a grand, crowd-pleasing closer for Armstrong’s legions of fans.

My Review:
This is the final installment in the Woman of the Otherworld series and I'm sad this is the last book. Glad to hear she has a few anthologies coming out starting next year.
In this book Savannah Levine is desperately trying to stop a 13th century child killer from finding a mortality cure and revealing the existence of the supernatural world and she is in love with the man who helped her escape the clutches of Ty Winslow.
Savannah and Adam finally share a kiss and they admit they have been dancing around their feelings for years. Adam has held back from starting a relationship with Savannah because of age difference between them and Savannah has been in love with Adam since he burned her name in a heart.
This book was very fast paced with non-stop action but a lot was going on. It was great to see everyone again that is important to the Otherworld series help Savannah fight to save the world. It was sad that Cassandra and Aaron sacrifice themselves to save a former beloved Cabal member and it was interesting that Jasper Haig is released to make sure that Hope survives.

As she ventures further into the forest something seems to be calling her like she belongs there. She meets Howard a bear of a man who makes her feel like a women who is actually taller than her. When they touch for the first time he sets off something inside of her but not in a good way.

Now she is within his grasp which forces him make a choice between keeping her alive or his desire for her.

My Review:
Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world - or send it spiraling into chaos.
A group of rogue supernaturals are planning an attack so Finn Evnissyen, Lucifer's demon son and enforcer is asked to infiltrate group. If he is successful he would save the world and be given a way out of his dad's employment.
Keira O'Brien is also investigating the rogue group on a secret mission for Caladh MacLoch a senior member of the Council of Preternaturals. She's part fey with powerful empathetic abilities and is a former con artist. She hopes her success will help wipe out her past sins and she is surprised to see Finn involved with the group.
Both of these characters are walking on the fine line between good and bad. It was quite surprise to see that both characters had to do a nasty assignment to prove their loyalty to the leader of the rogue group (especially Finn's). Both of them want to keep each other close but can't reveal their real intentions to protect their cover.
The romance was quite steamy, provocative and hot and both of them have interesting pasts to keep you interested.

PNR Review: Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, Book 7) [Hardcover]
I've finished reading "Frost Burned" the 7th book in her Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.
Product Description
Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman — the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack — has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more.
After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam — or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.
Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related — and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.
About the Author

My Review:
This book opens with Mercy and Jesse shopping on Black Friday when Mercy receives a mysterious text from Bran. She thinks this is strange so she starts calling everyone in the pack but she only gets everyone's voice mail. Through her mate bond with Adam she knows he is alive but in pain and is quite angry. The kidnappers have drugged them using silver so they can't heal fast and they want Adam to kill someone which will have recuperation.
First of all she needs to get Jesse to safety so she drops her off at Gabriel's mom's house then she is on a mission to save Adam and his pack of werewolves. She can't reach Bran or Samuel so she reaches out to old friends a new ally to help her.
This book had lots of tense moments which had me on the edge of my seat and it was great to see Mercy working by herself again instead of relying on Adam or the pack.
