MT Review: Private Vegas (Hardcover)

I've finished "Private Vegas" the 4th book in his Jack Morgan series by James Patterson.

Las Vegas is a city of contradictions: seedy and glamorous, secretive and wild, Vegas attracts people of all kinds -- especially those with a secret to hide, or a life to leave behind. It's the perfect location for Lester Olsen's lucrative business. He gets to treat gorgeous, young women to five-star restaurants, splashy shows, and limo rides -- and then he teaches them how to kill.

Private Jack Morgan spends most of his time in Los Angeles, where his top investigation firm has its headquarters. But a hunt for two criminals leads him to the city of sin -- and to a murder ring that is more seductively threatening than anything he's witnessed before. PRIVATE VEGAS brings James Patterson's Private series to a sensational new level.

My Review:

This was a very fast paced thriller from beginning to ending that never stopped!

The villains were very vile and disgusting people who got away because they had immunity but they sure got their comeuppance at the end!   YEAH!

I'm glad that Justine has a found a new guy that she really likes and who treats her right!  I feel sorry for Jack though we he finds out who it is at the end!

TOMMY is back and bad as ever!

My Review:

Eight years ago Jack Morgan owner of Private (the world's most exclusive detective agency) saved Hannah Sharpiro's life from a horrible death in Los Angeles.  Hannah had to watch unspeakable acts bestowed upon her mother because he father refused to pay ransom money for their freedom.

Hannah is a young and beautiful American student who has fled her country but now her past has caught up with her in London.  Now it's up to former Royal Military Police Sergeant Dan Carter head of the London Private Office to save her once again.

Dan Carter's ex-wife DI Kirsty Webb is assigned to the horrifying cases of women being abducted from the streets and a few days later their mutilated bodies are found.  Then when Hannah is abducted Kristy finds a link that ties the two horrifying cases together.

This was a very fast paced thriller with lots of action: murder, rape, hypnotic suggestion, kidnapping, organ thievery ring an organized crime.  I did feel like there was a London feel to the story and the characters were well developed.

Private, the world's most renowned investigation firm, has been commissioned to provide security for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Its agents are the smartest, fastest, and most technologically advanced in the world, and 400 of them have been transferred to London to protect more than 10,000 competitors who represent more than 200 countries.

A high-ranking member of the games' organizing committee has been killed. It's clear to Peter that this wasn't a crime of passion, but one of precise calculation and execution.

My Review:

This book is set at the London Olympic Games in 2012 where a mad man and his three followers are eliminating Olympic athletes and people associated to the Games who have cheated by using performance drugs and being undetected by drug tests.

Private operative Peter Knight is assigned the case when his mother's fiance and a high-ranking member of the organization community is found brutally murdered in his home garden.  Karen Pope, a reporter is sent a package with a letter that claims responsibilities for the crime because the Olympics are an insult to the Olympic spirit.

This book was fast paced with twists and turns that lead to a thrilling conclusion.  The main villain is extremely delusional and the murder scenes were well described and interesting.

My Review:

Jack Morgan is a ex-marine who owns the glitzy Private Security agency that everyone goes to help them investigate tough cases.

Jack returns home exhausted to find his former girlfriend Colleen murdered in his bed.  All the evidence points to Jack being the culprit especially when his own gun is found near his home.  Jack vehemently proclaims his innnocent and now it's up to his Private employees to prove his innocence.

On top of this he has three other cases going on. The first is mobster client Carmine Noccia who wants him to investigate the hijacking of his shipment of thirty million dollars worth of Oxycodone.  Why would Jack take this case?

The second client is beautiful and desperate owner of three upscale chain hotels who is losing business.  Someone seems to be killing men who use escort services in their rooms.  The owner and all the guests are keeping secrets.

Finally a film star might be guilty of statutory rape, kidnapping and murder.  But are they really guilty - you will have to read to find out!

Also Jack's love life is going downhill when his current girlfriend finds out his former one isn't really former as she should be.  I hope they resolve their problem since I really like them together.

I really enjoyed this book with it's interesting and intriguing characters, fast paced action and twists and turns.

As he closes in on the killer and chooses between revenge and justice, Morgan has to navigate a workplace love affair that threatens to blow the roof off his plans. With a plot that moves at death-defying speeds, Private is James Patterson sleekest, most exciting thriller ever.

My Review:

I highly recommend this book if you love a well written book with great characters and a fast read!

Storyline:  There are three storylines in this book and they were all well written and fleshed out!  The first is called the Schoolgirl murders which 18 young girls were killed and mementos taken as trophies!  The second has to do with multi-million dollar NFL gambling scandal which involves his uncle's businesss.  The third is the killing of his best friend's wife (who used to be Jack's old lover)!  This one almost pushes him over the edge literally!

Characters: All of the characters were well written and you get the feeling you know them somehow!  I feel compassion for Jack because he's suffering from nightmares from his ARMY days (they are really quite frightening) and to learn that your ex lover was killed the way she was!  He remembers her as the fun loving girl but wait until he finds out she's not as innocent as he though she was!

Romance: Jack is involved with his assistant Colleen who just turned 25!  He's not in love with her but enjoys her company while she's more emotionally involved (wants to get married and have kids, etc.).  Wait until you find out what drastic measures she takes near the end (you will have to read to find out!)  He used to live with Justine a fellow collegue in a house they both bought together and it's been two years since they split up!  Lucky for them they are still friends and actually working together!

Justine is now involved with Bobby the DA (who's suppose to be on the verge of a divorce) but you will also have to read to find out what happens!

Killer(s): The main killers were just sick and really enjoyed their killings (had no remorse) and they were pretty graphic on how they killed them.
