My Review:

Issac Rothe use to be a black ops soldier who now wins fights in the underground world of fighting.  He is on the run from his former boss who has put out a hit on him.  He is framed for the murder of a fellow fighter and he is thrown into jail.   He is represented by gorgeous public defender Grier Childe who he has a hot attraction too.  Then he meets a Jim Heron a former comrade who tells him his soul is in danger.

I did like Issac, Jim and his gang but I didn't connect with Grier.  The book was fast paced and things did happen and Grier's dad is involved too.

My Review:

This series is about love and redemption with war between angels and demons an the results determined by seven battles for seven souls.

Vin DiPietro is the first soul up for grabs.  He's a very powerful and rich man who isn't satisfied with everything he has.  He started with nothing and worked his way up by doing whatever he needed to do and didn't always follow the rules to make it where he is today.  His soul is on the edge until the night he looks into beautiful and somehow familiar Marie-Tereses eyes across a dance floor a a club.

Marie-Terese is also on a crossroad because the job she has to support her young son has been eating her up.  Even her boss Trez thinks she doesn't really belong there and he takes care of his girls very well.  She finds herself extremely attracted to the wealthy and handsome Vin but she has done that already and paid a heavy price.

PNR Review: Rapture: A Novel of the Fallen Angels [Hardcover]

I've finished "Rapture" the 4th book in her Fallen Angels series by J.R. Ward.

Product Description

Out of the wickedly inventive imagination of #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward comes a world where sin and salvation collide in a battle for the future of mankind — where a cynical fallen angel struggles against the seven deadly sins and a demon’s lure over seven chosen souls …

Mels Carmichael, reporter for the Caldwell Courier Journal, gets the shock of her life when a man stumbles in front of her car outside the local cemetery. After the accident, his amnesia is just the kind of mystery she likes to solve, but she soon discovers they’re in over their heads with his past. Over their heads with passion, too...

As shadows walk the line between reality and another realm, and her lover’s memory begins to come back, the two of them learn that nothing is truly dead and buried. Especially when you’re trapped in a no holds barred war between angels and demons. With a soul on the line, and Mels’s heart at risk, what in Heaven — or in Hell — will it take to save them both?

My Review:

Matthias is given a second chance because Devina cheated.  He wakes up on Jim Heron's graveyard naked and cold as the day he was born.  He manages to stumble out of the graveyard right into the path of Mel Carmichael's car which sends him to the hospital with injuries and memory loss.

Mels Carmichael is the local newspaper reporter and she coping with the loss of her father and her awkward relationship with her mother.  She agrees to help Matthias in discovering who is really is.  Jim believes Mel is the one to save Matthias this time.

This is a darker series than her Black Dagger Brotherhood series with truly evil and vile villains.  I didn't really feel the connection between Mel and Matthias because mostly she just helped him with his investigation but they did share some steamy kisses though.

My Review:

I have to admit I haven't read the first two in the series but I do know who Jim Heron is though!  I advise to read the first two first though so you know what's going on!

Thomas "Veck" DelVecchio, Jr is the detective son of a serial killer and he lives with the guilt everyday.  He's lying in wait for Kroner when the next thing he knows he is calling the cops believing he attacked him.  He has blood on his hands and he has blackouts and enormous headaches.

Sophia Reilly is the Internal Affairs officer is assigned to investigate the Kroner case and becomes Veck's temporary partner.  She believes he didn't attack Kroner and they are given the case of Sissy Barten who Devina killed.

Jim Heron is fallen angel who is obsessed with Sissy and is determined to find her body and get her soul back from Devina.  His obsession with Sissy puts a damper on his fellow angels Adrian and Eddie.  He promised her mom he would bring her back to her.

Veck doesn't think he is good enough for Reilly because he's the bad boy to her good girl.  I didn't like the part where we learn he sleeps around but I'm glad he admitted that he didn't want anyone else but Reilly.  Glad he didn't bring upstairs to his bedroom where he took one night stands and he didn't want to treat her as one.  The attraction between them is scorching hot and every time they are together you can see the sparks flying.

There is also a storyline between Nigel and another Archangel and it was sweet and I really enjoyed the way they ribbed and bantered each other.
