My Review:
The Fore-Demon Council assigns Paladin Rafael DeLeon to be Matthias Ambrose handler. Rafael assigns Matthias the job of making sure that his fiance Lucy's best friend Serah SanGermano stays alive.
Matthias wants nothing to do with Serah because he knows her from before. He doesn't want to remember her haunting blue eyes, her sexy smile or her powers. She's gotten under his skin but finally relents and agrees to protect Serah. In the past he kidnapped and erased her memories.
Serah is a great cook and her catering business is in high demand. She is preparing for her stint on American Chef and refuses to believe the chaos around her is directed at her but just a case of bad luck.
During their adventure they fall in love and when Serah wants to know his secrets he restores her memory. Then she doesn't want anything to do with him since she believes he's a bully.
I really enjoyed the cigar smoking and talking cat and how he protects Serah.
I loved the sarcastic remarks the characters banter back and forth between each other. It was hilarious and refreshing.
3.5/5

My Review:
Dominic Duvane of the Fore Demon Council tells demon Rafael Deleon that Hell's northern region Prince Belial's Infernati warriors attacked the guardians protecting the chest. Belial captured Rafe's sister Coby, but she bravely sent the chest to earth to buy time in order to prevent the enemy from obtaining it. Dominic orders Rafe to retrieve the chest while he rescues Coby from their enemies dungeon.
Serah Bear has bought the antique chest to her friend cosmetologist Lucia Gregory. Lucy attempts to open it while unaware that she would be freeing some nasty demons. Rafe arrives just in time as she releases some of the nasty demons and tells her to shut the chest before anymore comes out. He realizes that Lucy is a succubus and that he wants her which stuns him as he never expected to meet a succubus or desire one.
Rafael feels very guilty that he couldn't protect his sister and he hides a softer side of himself under a gruff and stubborn exterior.
Lucy definately can hold her own man does she have a tongue on her, LOL! She's very loyal and treats her friends and employees like friends. Really liked she was determined to break down Rafe's barriers and walls.
I really liked how Sydney incorporated a fantasy world of different supernatural creatures.
4/5
