PNR Review: Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, Book 7) [Hardcover]

I've finished reading "Frost Burned" the 7th book in her Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.

Product Description

Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman — the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack — has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more.

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam — or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related — and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

My Review:

This book opens with Mercy and Jesse shopping on Black Friday when Mercy receives a mysterious text from Bran.  She thinks this is strange so she starts calling everyone in the pack but she only gets everyone's voice mail.  Through her mate bond with Adam she knows he is alive but in pain and is quite angry.  The kidnappers have drugged them using silver so they can't heal fast and they want Adam to kill someone which will have recuperation.

First of all she needs to get Jesse to safety so she drops her off at Gabriel's mom's house then she is on a mission to save Adam and his pack of werewolves.  She can't reach Bran or Samuel so she reaches out to old friends a new ally to help her.

This book had lots of tense moments which had me on the edge of my seat and it was great to see Mercy working by herself again instead of relying on Adam or the pack.

PNR Review: Fair Game (Alpha And Omega) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Fair Game" the 3rd book in her Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs.

Product Description

Patricia Briggs, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mercy Thompson novels, "always enchants her readers." (Lynn Viehl, New York Times bestselling author) Now her Alpha and Omega series-set in a world of shifting shapes, loyalty, and passion - brings werewolves out of the darkness and into a society where fear and prejudice could make the hunters prey ...

They say opposites attract. And in the case of werewolves Anna Latham and Charles Cornick, they mate. The son - and enforcer - of the leader of the North American werewolves, Charles is a dominant alpha. While Anna, an omega, has the rare ability to calm others of her kind.

Now that the werewolves have revealed themselves to humans, they can't afford any bad publicity. Infractions that could have been overlooked in the past must now be punished, and the strain of doing his father's dirty work is taking a toll on Charles.

Nevertheless, Charles and Anna are sent to Boston, when the FBI requests the pack's help on a local serial killer case. They quickly realize that not only the last two victims were werewolves - all of them were. Someone is targeting their kind. And now Anna and Charles have put themselves right in the killer's sights.

My Review:

This book opens right after River Marked so there are scenes relating to the outcome of the ending of that book.

Charles is starting to unravel mentally and starting to see ghosts, pushing Anna away and giving in to his blood thirsty nature after killing several werewolves.  His father Bran sends Charles and Anna to Boston to assist with the FBI on their serial killer case that has lasted for several decades.  At first they had a typical pattern (mostly Asian teenagers) but now they have included werewolves and fae.  The bodies have been found carved with symbols, raped and then killed.
A high ranking fae's human daughter has been kidnapped and the FBI, werewolves and fae have only a few hours to save her.  As they dig deeper into the case they discover a long dead witch and a strange kind of fae are involved.  If they don't be careful Anna will be their biggest conquest.
I really enjoyed the detailed graphic crime scenes and the research the author incorporated into storyline.

Some great secondary characters were introduced in this book Leslie the tough FBI agent, Issac the Boston Alpha werewolf and Beauclaire the high ranking and powerful fae.

Really glad to see Anna has grown and being more assertive by going against Marrock and being more vocal.

This book is more darker that the previous two with black magic, powerful unknown killers and bloody crime scenes.

My Review (NO SPOILERS):

I really like this series because of the well written characters and the great storyline.  Mercy is a strong, smart, loyal to her friends, very friendly and willing to help others while Adam is your sexy and possessive alpha male.

In this book you have alot of Mercy and Adam quality time and it's so much fun to see how far they have come in their relationship from the first book to the sixth one.

We also learn more about Mercy's heritage like who her dad was and how he was around her mom, etc.

Really like how the mystery is intertwined with Mercy's heritage and meeting some very interesting and intriguing new characters.

Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson, Book 4) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Bone Crossed" the 4th book in her Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.

From Publishers Weekly

Briggs makes a well-deserved move into hardcover with the rousing fourth adventure for kick-ass were-coyote auto mechanic Mercedes Thompson. Healing in body and spirit after the events of 2008's Iron Kissed, Mercy is preparing to marry alpha werewolf Adam Hauptman when an old friend asks her to help fend off a nasty ghost. It's a good time for Mercy to leave Portland, Ore.: vampire queen Marsilia is after her and her vampire friend Stefan for successfully hunting down a monster that should have killed them. Mercy leaves Adam to negotiate peace with Marsilia and heads to Spokane, Wash., to investigate the ghost, an unexpectedly complicated task.

Product Description
