Toys [Hardcover]
I've finished "Toys" by James Patterson.
Product Description
James Bond and Jason Bourne have just been topped! A battle for the world is set into unstoppable motion and Hays Baker is the only one who can save it.
Hays Baker and his wife Lizbeth possess super-human strength, extraordinary intelligence, stunning looks, a sex life to die for, and two beautiful children. Of course they do -- they're Elites, endowed at birth with the very best that the world can offer. The only problem in their perfect world: humans and their toys!
The one with the most toys -- dies
The top operative for the Agency of Change, Hays has just won the fiercest battle of his career. He has been praised by the President, and is a national hero. But before he can savor his triumph, he receives an unbelievable shock that overturns everything he thought was true. Suddenly Hays is on the other side of the gun, forced to leave his perfect family and fight for his life.
Now a hunted fugitive, Hays is thrown into a life he never dreamed possible--fighting to save humans everywhere from extinction. He enlists all of his training to uncover the truth that will save millions of lives -- maybe even his own. James Patterson's Toys is a thriller on a hyper plane -- with a hero who rivals both James Bond and Jason Bourne.

My Review:
Hays Baker and his wife Lizbeth are part of a super human group known as Elites. The Elites (a technologically advance race of humans) have essentially taken over the earth after a catastrophic event in the past where humanity was nearly killed off. Currently the Elites run society and maintain order and consider humans trash. Hays and his wife work for the Agency of Change (they keep the order and keep humanity at bay) and Hays is on his way up the ladder of success until he confronts a human that will forever change his life. After falling nearly 10 stories from a building Baker is rushed to the hospital and he learns he is going to live but his life is forever changed as he is brought in for surgery.
He finds out he isn't quite as "elite" as he thinks he is while his wife Lizbeth isn't quite who we think she is. Hays meets his sister Lucy and goes from hunter to the hunted as he becomes a wanted fugitive by the Agency in which he once worked for and finds himself working alongside humans to save the world from a holocaust of humanity.
This isn't your typical James Patterson book but it had a lot of excitement from the first page to the last page.
It really was a quick and fun read and I highly recommend reading only if you have an open mind and looking for something new in the sci-fi genre.
4/5
