Surrender the Dark [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Surrender the Dark" the 1st book in her new series by L.A. Banks.

Product Description

National bestselling author L.A. Banks’s electrifying new paranormal series is set in a sizzling world where Dark and Light are trapped in an eternal struggle for the fate of mankind.

Celeste Jackson has fought all her life against a fog of hallucination and substance abuse, but it’s not until she meets her protector, Azrael, an angel who has left the safety of the Light, that she learns of the evil forces that have been trying to ruin her, and why. A fierce battle for control of the mortal realm is brewing, and only Celeste — with the help of the Remnant, her half-human, half-angel brethren — can stand in the way. Together, Celeste and Azrael must gather an army of sensitives to defeat the dark powers that have ruled humanity for centuries, but time is running out. If Azrael surrenders to his growing desire for Celeste, he risks being trapped among humanity forever. But the longer he stays, the harder she is to resist. To save the world, Celeste must draw on her own dark experiences with addiction to help Azrael overcome the one temptation that could possibly make him an eternal prisoner — his obsession with her.

My Review:

This book is quite different then I have read before because the heroine was a recovering addict and victim of physical abuse and seeing the truly damaged character transform into a tough-as-nails ass-kicking heroine was fun.

It was quite painful to see how the heroine was treated and the environment she lived in at the beginning of the book.

The characters were well written and you got to know them and the storyline was top notch.

Azrael was quite a hoot because he's not familiar with our food and things we normally do.  The things and stuff he does is so funny!

3.5/5

Thanks Maylene from Simon and Schuster Canada for sending me this book to review, greatly appreciated!

Left for Undead: A Crimson Moon Novel [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Left for Undead" the 6th and last book in her Crimson Moon series by L.A. Banks.

Secret government operative Sasha Trudeau earned a long vacation with her lover and fellow Shadow Wolf, Hunter, after the brutal wolf-like attacks that left New Orleans in an uproar. My Review:

I really liked how L.A. Banks gave a happy ending for all of her characters. Hunter is more possessive and protective of Sasha but he has finally come to terms about his mate's relationship with his brother. His step-brother (Shogun) has taken steps towards his future and finding happiness. Sasha has grown stronger and finally seems at peace with her decision about her life and mate. There is no longer any lasting tension between Shogun, Sasha and Hunter. Sasha's extended family and team are all safe and stronger than ever. All real issues are resolved and Banks even offers a glimpse into their futures.

I'm sad that this is the last book in the series since it was getting really good!

Undead on Arrival (Crimson Moon, Book 3) (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Undead on Arrival" the 3rd book in her Crimson Moon series by L.A. Banks.

Product Description

Just one month ago, secret government operative Sasha Trudeau thought she’d tasted victory. Orchestrating détente between the warring factions of the supernatural world had nearly cost her life—but it also opened the door to a future with Max Hunter, her mate and fellow Shadow Wolf.

Until now. A poisonous virus is wreaking havoc on Hunter’s immune system. And the passionate man who Sasha loves has become unpredictable, dangerous—and possibly deadly. When Hunter disappears the night a human is found ravaged, Sasha is thrust into a race against the clock to find the cure for her mate…and the traitor who’s determined to see them both dead.

My review:

I really enjoy reading this series but not as much as the Vampire Huntress ones which have sadly ended.

I like Sasha and Max together but I also like Shogun which rounds out the love triangle.  LOL!
