My Review:

Maria and her friends have a great time at their party minus Shin.  She finally decides to tell everyone about why she was expelled from St. Katria and how her friendship started and ended with Anna.  Yusuke tells Maria he will stay by her side no matter what happens and that maybe Anna wants Maria to find her way back to her side and that she should join the same band Anna attends.  Maria joins the same school when the instructor asks her to form a group with Anna and Shin so she could sing about Anna's feelings.  Yusuke decides to join too when the instructors tells Maria she should street perform.

During the party Shin calls Yusuke's cell and leaves him a message to not get involved with Maria.  He also admits that he loves Maria and he believes Yusuke does too.  Shin asks if he could speak to Yusuke alone and Yusuke tells him he got his message and he doesn't need to tell him all the details since he will stay by Maria's side no matter what.

Maria and Anna have a little chat when all of a sudden they start fighting again by yelling and Anna runs away.  Shin goes after her and has a little chat with her and asks her to grow up and stop being stubborn and just let everyone know how she feels.

My Review:

Wow alot happens in this volume and some of it's good and some of it's not so good!

Hana Ibuki is stated as the head of the choir group but the students are wondering why Maria isn't there.  They start arguing that Maria wouldn't abandon them after being so vocal about how much she wanted to sing Amazing Grace.  Hana makes herself look good at the competition at Maria's expense.  When Hana finds out reporters are going to be there she becomes upset.  She becomes more upset when Maria accidentally ruins her plans and has a temper tantrum in front of the cameras.  The reporters realize that Hana and everyone is conspiring against Maria.

When Maria bumps into Ayu Nakamura in the washroom without her makeup Ayu becomes upset.  She confesses she is jealous of Maria because she always looks pretty.  When Maria tells Ayu to confess her feelings about how she feels about Yusuke she realizes that Maria isn't that bad.

We see The Homeroom teacher pour ink over Maria's head and when she arrived in the classroom he says that she ran away.  When she finally arrives with ink all over her he starts accusing the other students of doing the deed.  He finally gives Maria an ultimatum that she would go on camera and say that the school had reformed her and he would confess he was the one who did the deed and it was an accident.

When the students find out the conspiracy between Hana they boycott the singing competition.  They start accusing her and treating her like an outsider.  Maria states that she is determined to sing Amazing Grace on state with everyone.

Finally their school is called onto stage and Maria sings Amazon Grace by herself and everyone is blown away by her voice.  Shin gives her his jacket and everyone rushes out to congratulate her.  Yusuke has this starstuck look on his face and the volume ends.

Maria gets her first kiss (I'm not going to spoil this by telling you by who), Shin catches a fever, someone confesses to Yusuke that they like him and Yusuke confesses he likes someone too.

My Review:

In this volume Maria is still dealing with her mean and nasty classmates.   A girl named Hana has come back to school after two weeks which we saw in the last volume.  Everyone seems to love her and she's the exact opposite of Maria (she's nice, friendly and likes everyone to get along).  At the beginning she takes Maria's necklace which the the teacher took in the previous volume.  Maria doesn't want to make a big deal about it but the others ask her about it and Hana plays the victim and starts crying.  Hana is nice to Maria and makes everyone get along with everyone since she doesn't like people fighting and divided.  Maria feels uneasy about Hana and doesn't believe all the nice things that are said about her.

Hana and Maria have a misunderstanding and have a falling out with Hana setting up Maria.  It was nice that Maria wants some kind of friendship with Hana and announces they are frenemies.  Hana doesn't quite know how to take Maria's blunt sayings and indifferent behavior.

The volume ends with Maria agreeing to appear on a TV show recording their classmates song "Amazing Grace" which Maria hums to herself alot.  We find out that Hana's plan was to come out looking like an angel making up with Devil Maria.

We even have short story showing us how Shin and Yusake first met and started hanging out together.

This manga is refreshing with a lead female character with a blunt personality who deals with situations in her own way.  She keeps her feelings inside and doesn't show it even when she is upset.  There was a situation with Hana which made her very upset but she keeps it inside of herself.  Shin, Yusake and Tomoyo go check on her and let her know they are all friends.  She is very happy and more calm when she realizes she has friends for the first time.  You can see how Shin and Yusake have feelings for Maria especially Shin when he pulls her into his arms and lets her cry against his chest.  He becomes flustered and blushes and wondering what is wrong with him/he's doing what he wants.

My Review:

This volume opens with Maria and Yusuke visiting Tomoyo who is always smiling but wearing Goth clothes which Maria doesn't really like.  We learn more about Maria's story and her true personality shines through.  Yusuke gets a lot more attention in this volume along with Ayu Nakamura Maria's tormentor who we see eavesdropping on a couple of conversations and shows her true feeling off stage.

We also see more of the conflict between Maria and her teachers and how she deals with the problems.  She is given the task of leading the choral competition which she pursues in spite of hostility and hatred from her classmates.  As the story progresses Maria realizes that people genuinely coming to her defense and why she was destined to go to that school.

My Review:

Maria Kawai is gorgeous, extremely smart and highly-intuitive transfer student from the Catholic high school St. Katria to Totsuka high school.  She reveals that she was kicked out of St. Katria for beating up a teacher.  She is able to read a person, figures out their qualities and then confronts them bluntly with the truth.

I really like how Maria takes care of herself in bad situations for example when people make fun of her or say bad things about her she doesn't take it personally she gets even with them by using her sharp tough and bluntly letting them know the truth.

Some interesting side characters like Yusuke who is very popular with the girls and seems to be nice (but Maria figures out he doesn't like people), Shin who seems to hate Maria (but has a heart of gold) and Nippachi who is the end of everyone's jokes (Maria figures out that no one really matters to her) and seems to be character shrouded in mystery.
