I've finished " Happy Marriage Vol. 2" by Maki Enjoji.

A working-girl romance

In order to help her father, Chiwa Takanashi agrees to an arranged marriage with the company president, Hokuto Mamiya — a man she doesn’t know — at the request of Hokuto’s grandfather. Chiwa Takanashi has married a total stranger — company president Hokuto Mamiya — to get her father out of debt. Hokuto has pledged fidelity to her, but then the tabloids break the news of him dating a famous actress. Though Hokuto has denied having an affair, Chiwa starts confiding her worries to Yu Yagami, a handsome new company recruit. My Review:

This manga is for the older crowd because it deals with mature matters regarding two strangers who are dealing with marriage.

Chiwa is a normal girl who likes simple things but has doubts about her husband Hokuto motives.  She isn't even sure he likes her, doesn't really make sense of the game he plays at work.

To further complicate the situation Hokuto is photographed with another woman and denies he is having an affair, a new employee is hired who Chiwa has taken under her wings and a former flame wants to hire her.

About the Author

Maki Enjoji was born on December 8 in Tokyo. She made her debut with Fu Junai (Wicked Pure Love). She currently works with Petit Comics. Happy Marrige?! is her fourth series.

My Review:

Finally a more mature shojo manga with adult characters and not in high school. 

Chiwa Takanashi has agreed to marry Hokuto Mamiya the president of the company she works for at the request of his grandfather to help her father.  Her father is in debt because he trusts the wrong people and he is bilked out of his money.  She is currently working part-time as a hostess but is fired when she throws Hokuto's drink in his face.

She learns her father has an agreement with the local Yakuza and she agrees to do anything for them.  She wants to save the family home and the leader agrees only if she is willing to sell her body, etc.  Hokuto happens to arrive at that moment and promises to help her out if she agrees to remain married to him.

I was laughing at the situations these two likeable characters found themselves in.  It's hilarious when they have misunderstandings and then they fight.
