At Last (Lucky Harbor) [Mass Market Paperback]
Product Description
HER LOVE HAS COME ALONG . . .
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.
A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction - or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

My Review:
One day Amy Michaels go for a walk and gets lost in the woods. She was trying to find a secret spot her grandmother wrote about in her diary. She calls up one of her best friends Mallory Quinn who tells her to stay put and she will call someone to get her out. That someone is sexy forest ranger Matt Bowers.
Forest ranger Matt Bowers is the one called to help get Amy out of the forest. He use to be in the Army and then a cop and finally has found a job he really enjoys. A perk is rescuing cute girls and his nickname is "Ranger Hot Buns". They are forced to spend the night together when the roads are blocked due to a storm.
Amy has lived on the streets since she has been 15 or 16 years old and when she befriends Riley a teen runaway it triggers her own tragic past. It also shows why she treats Matt like she does and why she has trouble committing into a long-term relationship.
Matt also has a painful past where we learn of his broken marriage and one of his fellow officers was on the take (this ended his police career). So this has left him wary of having a long-term relationship with any women.
Amy and Matt are extremely attracted to each other and can't seem to stay away from each other. They start a no-strings attach relationship but it deepens into love which none has control over.
I enjoyed reading this book even though I hated the way Amy treated Matt at times. Amy and Matt both had great chemistry together and it was fun watching how she transformed from a man-hater to an open and loving person. Also it was a treat to watch Matt overcome his broken marriage and his guilty over what happened in his past.
