About Cheryl:
A native of Louisville, KY, I graduated from the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and then went on to earn a BSN from Indiana University. Horse crazy from the time I knew what a horse was, my family moved to rural Indiana in 1989. Since then, I've managed to accumulate four horses and five cats. I've been working full-time as a critical care nurse for more than thirty years which can be exciting, but I'm itching for a different kind of excitement!
As a writer, I find that any fantasy you have can come true if you just write it down! I've been keeping my friends entertained with my books for a number of years, and self-published a book in 2006, but Slave is the first of my books to be published with Sourcebooks Casablanca.
What makes it even more exciting is that they have asked me for five more novels in this series!
My other interests include cooking, gardening, singing and guitar playing. I'm really hurt that The Eagles got back together without me!
You can find Cheryl on her Website, her Blog, Casablanca Authors Blog, Wickedly Romantic Blog and Sourcebooks Yahoo Group:

Alien Romances — Why Are They So Hot?
My name is Cheryl Brooks, and as the author of The Cat Star Chronicles series of sexy sci-fi romance, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring this topic, and I still don’t have all the answers. Perhaps it’s the allure of the unknown—the chance that an alien lover will be all the things you’ve ever wished for in a man, and more. Or it could just be the novelty of it—the opportunity to join the “I’ve had sex with an alien” club. Then there are those women who’ve had nothing but trouble with human males and are looking outside their own species for something better.
Unfortunately, when most of us think of aliens, we think of creepy-crawly, weird, horrific beings who try to take over the world and destroy Earth’s civilization. No one wants to have a romance of any kind with that sort of alien, so when I created the men of Zetith, I made them the hottest, sexiest men I could imagine. I made them tall, handsome, likeable guys with long, curly hair, cat-like eyes and fangs, pointed ears and slanted eyebrows like Mr. Spock, and then I gave them the sexual equipment of a horse and the ability to purr like a kitten. These characteristics alone made them drool-worthy, but the fact that their body fluids can chemically trigger orgasms and euphoria in females makes them, well, irresistible.
And that’s the problem. They’re too good. So good, in fact, that someone decided to exterminate them—and not because they were bent on invasion, but because his wife had taken a Zetithian lover. Observing how irresistible these men were to human women, he killed the lover and then set out to eliminate them all, seeing them as a threat to the survival of humankind.
All villains justify their dastardly deeds in some way, and while removing a perceived threat to one’s own species is certainly laudable, this fellow was also a drug dealer. Zetithian semen has an effect on women that is as powerful as any drug, but has no side effects (other than conception), isn’t physically addicting, costs nothing to produce—and they were giving it away. Seeing the Zetithian race as competition not only for his wife’s affections, but for his income, naturally our villain felt that they had to be eliminated. He financed a war against Zetith, and when that didn’t work, he hired the evil Nedwuts to redirect an asteroid and disintegrate the planet. Then, to ensure that none existed anywhere else, he put a bounty on the survivors.
But he wasn’t the only greedy person in the galaxy, and when six soldiers were captured near the end of the war, instead of executing them, an entrepreneurial officer decided to sell them as slaves. This action took an already hot commodity and made it extremely rare. Imagine, then, how fiercely protective the women who discover them would be and the lengths to which they would go to remove the threat to the ones they love.
In the current release, Hero, which is book six of the series, we find out more about this genocidal maniac and the efforts of the last known Zetithian female to bring him down. Alas, for our poor villain, hell hath no fury like a woman whose Zetithian mate is in danger!
What about you? What do you think makes alien romance so hot?

I love the Cat Star Chronicles. They are amazing. My question for you is... Can you tell us anything about the upcoming 8th and 9th book? I know Virgin would be before 8 and 9 but you have a blurb for that on your website. I was wondering who 8 and 9 will be about.
Cheryl...You've got your game on. The post is terrific and I love your discussion about alien lovers. You also gave some suggested answers and I think the one that suits me closest is:
"Then there are those women who’ve had nothing but trouble with human males and are looking outside their own species for something better."
The Cat Star Chronicles is a wonderfully entertaining series. It has the affect of transporting me outside of myself and into that fantasy world you've so cleverly crafted. Your storytelling skills rock!
Hi Marissa!
Books 8 &9 are still in the planning stages, but book 8 is about one of the characters introduced in Virgin who sees himself as the Johnny Appleseed of the Zetithian race, and goes from planet to planet sowing his wild oats until he meets up with Lucy....
Book 9 is about another character introduced in Virgin. Right now, I'm seeing him as a bit of a loner who has a talent with horses. Think a guy with long black hair on a big black horse and you'll get some idea of where I'm coming from.
Thanks, Nancy! I think a lot of women could identify with that!
Good luck to everyone in the drawing!
I love Cheryl Cat Star Chronicles. All that I can say is Once you go Cat you can't go back. I like The idea of Alien Men. Because they're not normal men. We need fantasy lovers. The Zetithian Men are sexy beyond belief. Nothing can compare. So why not? A guy purring in your EAR. And Special Equipment you won't see at the Gym anytime soon.
Hi Donna! Thanks for dropping by and good luck in the drawing!

I like the idea of alien men because - well, they are human - so all those "he's just a man" excuses are gone.
Hi Beverly!
LOL! I've had some readers fuss because my heroes do things that "no man would do" and my reply to that is that they aren't human!
Thanks for commenting and good luck in the drawing!
