PNR Review: Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, Book 2) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Eternal Kiss of Darkness" the 2nd book in her Night Huntress World series by Jeaniene Frost.

Product Description

An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness ... and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.

Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.

At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears - this fearless, beautiful .... human who braved death to rescue him. Though her burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.

But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.

My Review:

Kira Graceling couldn't ignore the moans of pain and crackling laughter and found herself in a whole lot of trouble. Mencheres a 4000 year old vampire who has seen the Pyramids of Giza being built and wanting to die couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a dark-haired beauty trying to save his life.  When Mencheres saves her life he brings her into a world she has never seen before and attracts the attention of his adversary who is determined to end his life and gain is powers.

As Mencheres and Kira spend time together they form an attraction but don't act on it.  When he sets her free both yearn for each other.  When Kira goes looking for him she stumbles into a bad situation and Menchere saves her once again.  It turns deadly when Mencheres is framed for murder and they go on the run and prove his innocence while trying to stay alive.

Kira was a strong, sassy and courageous heroine who was an excellent fit for Mencheres who has vowed never to love another women after being betrayed by his ex-wife.

4/5
