PNR Review: Bride of the Night [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "Bride of the Night" the 3rd book in her vampire series by Heather Graham.
Product Description
She's the vampire that could destroy a nation.
At least, that's what Pinkerton detective Finn Dunne thinks of Tara Fox. Capturing her aboard a ship sneaking its way northward, he's convinced she's been sent to take out President Lincoln. While she's certainly the most attractive assassin he's ever faced, that won't keep him from his duty.
Tara has always been caught between worlds. As a vampire born and raised in Key West, she has many friends among the humans. Many friends that are now fighting and dying in the raging Civil War.
When her strange dreams began, she thought of them as abstract visions. But she now knows that she must travel to Washington, D.C., and protect the president at all costs. Finn still won't trust her, despite what he's seen. And if Tara has to go through him — or bring reinforcements — to save Lincoln, she will do whatever it takes, even if it costs her her heart.

My Review:
Pinkerton detective Finn Dunn thinks Confederate spy Tara Fox is out to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln when he catches her after the ship she is on is and the vessel he is on are shipwrecked.
She explains to him what her mission is but he doesn't believe her. He is determined to bring her back to DC and her friend Richard as his prisoners. During their adventure back to DC they are attacked by newly made vampires (Tara and others haven't seen any like them before) and Finn teaches them how to destroy them and what to watch out for (red rims around their pupils) to know who's infected.
Meanwhile they become lovers and fall in love. Their new mission is to arrive in DC and to prevent President Lincoln's assassination and to flush out the leader behind the conspiracy.
This was a very fast paced vampire thriller with some truly truly terrifying scenes. I loved how Ms. Graham incorporated historical facts into a well written vampire thriller. I really enjoyed the romance between Finn and Tara because they got to know each other and realized they are on the same team.
4/5
