Contemp Review: An Angel for Christmas [Hardcover]

I've finished "An Angel for Christmas" by Heather Graham.

Product Description

Christmas has never brought out the best in the MacDougal family. Still, year after year, they gather together in the Blue Ridge Mountains to try to make the season merry and bright. But this year is an especially strained one, with Shayne's impending divorce, Morwenna's slavish devotion to work and Bobby's reluctance to face what life has to offer. They've never felt less like a family.

Then, in the midst of a snowy sibling shouting match, a mysterious stranger appears. He could be a criminal, a madman — or something far more unexpected. Despite their fears and the growing danger in the dark woods around them, the MacDougals take a leap of faith. But when another stranger arrives on the mountainside, they don't know which of them to believe. One of these men can't be trusted. And one is about to bring Christmas into their hearts.

My Review:

Every year the MacDougalls have Christmas together even through the all the bickering and fighting. It's even tenser this year with Shayne the oldest son is bitter and extremely upset about his divorce and missing his kids, Morwenna the middle kid is at home while her boyfriend is in Mexico and debating if she made the right decision and Bobby the youngest son keeps changing schools and courses.  Now he really wants to go to Jiliard though his dad tells him he won't make much money singing or playing guitar.  Mike MacDougall is a lawyer and really wants whats best for his children.  Stacy MacDougall is a stay at home mom and grandmother.

Cindy has allowed the children to stay with their dad's family since she wanted them to have a family Christmas.  Then the whole family finds an injured stranger on their property and he says his name is Gage Lange and he's a State Trooper chasing after a dangerous criminal Luke Defeo.  The family brings him inside and nurses him back to health while Mike doesn't trust him.  Gage is incorporated into the family gathering when Luke arrives on the scene saying he's the State Trooper.

The family doesn't trust either so they both of them up and walk them down to the family restaurant in town when the snow lets up.  The reception is bad so they always miss the news when finally they get some reception back and Morwenna sees her boyfriend chasing Miss Double D on the beach.

Then Luke escapes and targets Morwenna's brothers as an ambush and now everyone has to fight for their lives.

This book was quite heartwarming though a little different with elements of spiritual things.  It has a happy ending though I thought the romance was kind of unbelievable since Morwenna was suspicious of Gabe for the entire book.

3/5
