Manga Review: Dawn of the Arcana, Vol. 1 [Paperback]

I've finished "Dawn of the Arcana Vol. 1" by Rei Toma.

Product Description

Reads R to L (Japanese Style).

Princess Nakaba of Senan is forced to marry Prince Caesar of the enemy country Belquat, tantamount to becoming a hostage. While Caesar is pleasing to the eye, he is also selfish and possessive, telling Nakaba outright: “You are my property.” With only her attendant Loki at her side, Nakaba must find a way to cope with her hostile surroundings, her fake marriage...and a mysterious power!

My Review:

Princess Nakaba is forced to marry Prince Caesar the 2nd son to bring peace between their countries though the last time this happened it didn't go well.  The women was killed and they didn't even try to cover it up who did it.

People with black hair are considered royalty and special while red heads are hated.  Not sure why they are hated so much?

This manga is a twisted love story with the selfish princess falling in love with his red haired princess.  Loki is an Anjin who are considered sub people and more hated then red heads.  They are used as servants and killed very quickly though they are stronger than a normal human being.  He follows Nakaba around to protect her from big bad Caesar.  Caesar threatens and does abuse Nakaba by grabbing her hair, etc.

I really enjoyed reading this manga because of the great characters, storyline, love story, etc.  The drawings are bigger than most of the other mangas I read and it's easier to read.

5/5

Thanks Simon and Schuster Canada for sending me this manga to review, greatly appreciated!
