My Review:

In 1843 during the Victorian Era The Illuminist a secret society guard their secrets and are feared and hated by the upper class.  England has been benefiting from their inventions.   Janette Aston buys their scientific circulars to feed her mind even though he father warns her to be gentle and act like a lady.  Her curiosity takes her inside the Illuminist's headquarters and she sees some unknown truths and meets the most interesting man.  Darius Lawley position as head Guard makes him responsible for Janette's well being and for her recently discovered powers that the Illuminist want and their enemies too.

I really liked Janette because she's very curious and not submissive like most ladies were in that time period, she stood up to her dad and the doctor and she could hold her own against Darius.

Darius is a sexy and hot hero who isn't all like gentlemen and tells it like it is and he took his Guard duty very seriously and to the extreme.  It was very funny to read his best friend teasing him about his interest in Janette.

I really enjoyed the bantering between Janette and Darius because it was very humorous and exciting.  To me it was foreplay between them and it got them both hot and bothered especially their kissing.  Their loves scenes were very hot and steamy and you have to just read their scene in the private village.

4/5
