RS Review: Run from Fear [Mass Market Paperback]
I've finished "Run from Fear" the 3rd book in a series by Jami Alden.
Product Description
With each step she takes, he tracks her every move, waiting for the perfect time. The perfect revenge. Until then, he'll watch her . . .
RUN FROM FEAR
More than anything, Talia Vega wanted to leave behind her harrowing past. Moving eight hundred miles away, she succeeded . . . until the one man who knows her darkest secrets wanders into the restaurant where she works. Now the agonizing memories come crashing back-along with an undeniable desire for Jack Brooks, the ex-Green Beret who rescued her from a sadistic monster two years ago.
Jack Brooks knows that showing up unannounced is a purely selfish move. Talia doesn't need his protection anymore, but he can't get the raven-haired beauty out of his mind. And when a twisted madman is hell-bent on resurrecting her torturous past, Jack vows to do anything to keep her safe - even risk his own life to save the only woman he's ever loved.

My Review:
Talia Vega has finally rebuilt her life around with her sister Roseario in northern California after the horrors she suffered at the hands of Nate Brewster, David Maxwell and Margaret Grayson-Maxwell.
She thought everything was going great until she starts getting gifts similar to ones that David gave her. Then an old friend comes back into her life Jack Brooks who she hasn't wanted to see. Jack has been keeping tabs on her and Roseario for the last two years. Talia is still dealing with the fact she was kidnapped and tortured and doesn't really trust men anymore.
Jack has gone through a terrible family life with a alcoholic and abusive father and a mother who let it happen and turned a blind eye. He also tried to save his friend and her son from a Green Beret and feels guilty about the aftermath. He has always loved Talia and has been waiting for her.
This book had some very tense moments with graphic crime scene details.
We learn who the killer is early in the book and we get his thoughts and feelings. He admires Nate Brewster and is determined to do what Nate failed to do - kill Talia Vega - she would be his ultimate kill.
At times I didn't really like Talia especially when she was rude to Jack (he was only trying to protect her for her own good) but at the end she redeemed herself when she finally admitted she loved Jack and wanted a life with him.
I really like Jack because he was so protective of Talia and Roseario and he was hot and sexy.
3/5
