PNR Review: Darkness Bound (Chimney Rock) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Darkness Bound" the 1st book in her Chimney Rock series by Stella Cameron.

Product Description

WHEN NIGHT FALLS

After her husband's tragic death, Leigh Kelly arrives on Whidbey Island determined to start over. Yet the tiny town of Chimney Rock is not as peaceful as it seems. Women have been disappearing, and Leigh can't shake the feeling that she's being watched . . . especially at night. Soon, she's experiencing visions she can't explain and fighting her attraction to a handsome stranger who seems to know her most intimate desires.

PASSION TRANSFORMS THEM

As the leader of the Team, a pack of werehounds forced to hide their very existence, former special ops soldier Niles Latimer is desperate to prove a man's heart beats beneath his predator's body. And Leigh-the mysterious beauty possessing powers she doesn't yet understand - may be the one woman who can help him. But Niles isn't the only one who recognizes Leigh's true identity. Something evil is waiting in the woods - and the hunt has begun . . .

My Review:

Leigh Kelly and her husband Chris were happily married for two years and a few days before he died.  Leigh decides she couldn't live in their house which was filled with too many memories.  She moves to Chimney Rock on Whidbey Island to the small house Chris has left her.

Niles Latimer a Former Special Ops soldier werehound and his werehound Team are watching over Leigh to keep her safe from rogue werewolves assaulting women. He also senses Leigh possesses something unique that could prove her compatible as his life mate. Nile realizes she knows nothing about her DNA or the existence of werehounds as he and his Team vow to protect her while the evil enemy also senses who she is too and pledges to take her.

Wow this was a very thrilling dark paranormal surrounded by all these powerful supernatural creatures werehounds, werewolves, vampires, fae, etc.

I loved how Niles was very cautious in his wooing of Leigh because him and his team have an honor code the human woman must know what they are before they can "SEAL".  I thought the awkwardness between them was quite humorous which was a great break from all the seriousness and evil things happening in the book.

4/5

Thanks Hachette Book Group for sending me this book to review, greatly appreciated!

Thanks for sharing your review for Darkness Bound. I am already following the tour in the hopes of being one of the three that wins both books. Otherwise reading your review would have helped me make that decision.
