Leslie Tentler Edge of Midnight Blog Tour with Giveaway and Guest Post

Hi, there! I’m Leslie Tentler and I write about FBI agents who specialize in violent crimes – namely, serial murders. If you’ve ever watched Criminal Minds, then you get the gist of what my FBI guys do. In the Chasing Evil trilogy, each book is about a different agent working for the FBI’s pressure-cooker Violent Crimes Unit, and each with a different, yet equally dangerous, journey.

Do you ever wonder how someone with that type of job – someone who sees such violent, grim things every day – manages to stay sane? Do they hit the gym and work out their frustrations, hit the bottle, or just take a long, hot shower to wipe off the grime of insidiousness?

In my current release, EDGE OF MIDNIGHT, special agent Eric Macfarlane is called down to Jacksonville, Fla., after three abductions of local women occur. Based on key evidence, it appears the abductions could be the work of a serial killer who slipped off the radar years earlier....a killer very important to Eric, as he took someone close to his heart. In fact, Eric shouldn’t even be on the case, but fortunately for him – or maybe unfortunately – he has family in high places with the connections to overrule FBI protocol.

What Eric lost to the killer has left him in a dark place. He wants this man, badly.

And here is the twist – while there has been no trace of two of the abducted women – one of them managed to escape. Mia Hale has no memory of what happened to her, although her wounds indicate it was something terrible. And if this really is the man Eric is seeking, he knows just how awful it was.

This creates an interesting dynamic, as Eric – the man who has seen too much on the job and would like to forget everything – is now faced with a woman who maybe has been given the gift of not remembering. But to help him find the killer, she has to regain her memory of those unspeakable lost hours.

If something bad happened to you, would you prefer to never remember it? What if reliving it could keep someone else safe? Stop a madman from taking more lives? And what if regaining those memories puts you back in the killer’s sights?

EDGE OF MIDNIGHT

The writer becomes the story when crime reporter Mia Hale is discovered on a Jacksonville beach – bloodied and disoriented, but alive. She remembers nothing, but her wounds bear the signature of a sadistic serial killer. After years lying dormant, The Collector has resumed his grim hobby: abducting women and taking gruesome souvenirs before dumping their bodies. But none of his victims has ever escaped – and he wants Mia back, more than he ever wanted any of the others.

FBI agent Eric Macfarlane has pursued The Collector for a long time. The case runs deep in his veins, bordering on obsession...and Mia holds the key. She’ll risk everything to recover her memory and bring the madman to justice, and Eric swears to protect this fierce, fragile survivor. But The Collector will not be denied. In his mind, he knows just how their story ends.

Sounds great, Leslie. I love Criminal Minds! I need to go find the first books, as I like to read through series from the beginning, even when "it's not necessary."
Good luck with these.
The teaser about memory loss/facing it pulled me in to check out the blog. I'm not reading the review until after I read the book though. Sorry--just a preference of mine.

Hi Megan, thanks for stopping by! I hope you like the series. (And I understand about not wanted to be spoiled, hence avoiding the review.) :-)

Congrats on the new release, Leslie. I think not remembering would be less of a burden than to have constant memories of the horror you faced. I remember Nate from the first Chasing Evil book and always thought he might have his own book even though we never actually meet him in "Midnight Caller."

HI Jane! I'm with you on the "not remembering" thing. Not sure if I'd be as brave as Mia. And you are right about Nate in Midnight Caller - the way he was written he could have had his own story, couldn't he? :-)

Thanks for stopping by!
