PNR Review: Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels, Book 1) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Darkness Unbound" the 1st book in her new Dark Angels series by Keri Arthur.

Product Description

The fight against darkness rages on for the next generation — in New York Times bestselling author Keri Arthur’s exciting new series set in the world of the Guardians.

Being half werewolf and half Aedh, Risa Jones can enter the twilight realms between life and death and see the reapers, supernatural beings that collect the souls of the dead. But she soon makes a terrifying discovery: Some sinister force is stealing souls, preventing the dead from ever knowing the afterlife.

Reapers escort souls — not snatch them — but Risa is still unnerved when a reaper shadows her in search of someone Risa has never met: her own father, an Aedh priest, who is rumored to be tampering with the gates of hell for a dark purpose. With the help of her “aunt” — half-werewolf, half-vampire Riley Jenson — and an Aedh named Lucian who may have lost his wings but none of his sex appeal, Risa must pursue whatever shadowy practitioner of blood magic is seizing souls, and somehow stop her father . . . before all hell breaks loose.

My Review:

I highly recommend Risa's series if you are a fan of the Riley Jensen series also by Keri.

Risa is asked by her mom to check out a young coma patient.  She's really horrified to find out her soul has been ripped out and destroyed.  She also finds out a reaper is following her everywhere and some enemies who want to kidnap and interrogate her to find out where her father is.

Risa is half Helki wolf and half Aedh but she can't shapeshift into a wolf but she has wolf qualities and able to change her features.  Her aunt Riley has taught her how to fight and her uncle Quinn has taught her how to use her Aedh ablities.

Very action packed from beginning to end and the ending was truly heartbreaking!

4/5

Thanks Random House for sending me this book to review, greatly appreciated!

I think I own the first three books in Keri's other series and I just need to get started on them. I think I will only try to tackle one series by Keri at a time though lol.

Thanks for the great review, I'm glad you enjoyed this one.
