Kylie's Bio
In the all-about-me department, I’m a native Midwesterner, having lived my whole life in Iowa. My husband and I are still trying to adjust to becoming empty nesters. Much of the time we rattle around our big century-old Victorian with a spoiled Polish Lowland Sheepdog named Lexie. We’re on the go a lot, traveling to see our kids and grandsons, tailgating at Iowa games, and enjoying new tropical getaways. If you know anything about Iowa winters, you’ll understand our desire for sun and beach once January hits.
In 1990 I began writing out of sheer desperation. Always an avid reader, I’d found that my favorite authors just couldn’t write fast enough to keep me in reading material. Someday if you twist my arm and buy me very strong margaritas, I might be convinced to share my whole embarrassing road to publication story. The short version is that my second manuscript sold in 1992, and then a few months later my first manuscript was bought, too, after it had undergone several major surgeries. To date I’ve written twenty-five books for Silhouette Intimate Moments (Romantic Suspense), five dark romantic thrillers for Berkley, a short story for eharlequin.com and participated in an Iowa authors murder mystery.
I live a dual life. Believe me, that sounds much more glamorous than it is. By day I’m an elementary special education teacher, working with students who have learning and behavior problems. During the weekends and summers…well, I can be forgiven for needing a little relaxation, right? And if my idea of relaxation includes dreaming up new ways to kill and maim my characters, it seems a harmless enough hobby. Some people golf. Now there’s a dangerous pastime. All those swinging clubs and small speeding objects. Someone could lose an eye.
When I’m not at the computer (always writing, never playing solitaire), I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, exercising, reading, flower gardening, and traveling.
I’m sure there’s more you’re dying to know about me. Check out the FAQ page and maybe some of your questions will be answered. I can’t make any promises, but that’s probably just as well. According to my husband, I feel no particular compunction to stick to my promises anyway!

The Hardest Goodbyes
Deadly Sins was released on August 2. It’s book six in The Mindhunters series and will likely be the last in the series, although I never say never. And it still hasn’t quite hit me that my current project doesn’t have Adam Raiker whispering insistently in my ear. Doesn’t have one of his compelling employees trying to get me to throw the man a curve ball. I’ve been writing Mindhunter books for three years. That’s longer than I’ve spent on any series I’ve ever created. That’s longer than I stuck with yoga and it was supposed to be life changing. (Perhaps it would have been if classes hadn’t met at 5:30 AM.)
Goodbyes are hard. And forever (?) goodbyes are the hardest. It doesn’t make it easier that the people I’m saying so long to are fictional story people who I created. That should—if anything—make it harder. They were borne solely from my imagination, developed in the corners of my mind. There were days I had more conversations with these people--albeit silent ones-- than I did with members of my family, especially during deadline times. And I know them as well as I do family. If you ask me which of them eats the most pizza, which is likeliest to show a little thigh to get her way or which male character exudes the most charm, and which is the most annoying…. I can name them off just like I could with personal friends. And the fun part is that readers probably can, too. That’s what makes this so special. To have created something that I can share with others.
Prior to The Mindhunters the longest series I had ever written was four books. That particular experience taught me just how very short my attention span is J. I learned after it that three connected books were all I could do before boredom set in. So three books was what I’d planned for this series. I hadn’t counted on the reader mail I received demanding to learn more about Adam Raiker, the head of The Mindhunters. And I certainly hadn’t expected my editor to request the same. I realize now it would have been a waste of one of my most compelling characters had Raiker not gotten his own story. His backstory, his very personality demands it.
Prior to beginning Raiker Forensics (The Mindhunters) Adam Raiker was a legendary profiler for the FBI. His last case for them ended spectacularly when he was captured, tortured and nearly killed by the child killer he was tracking. That case not only ended his career with the bureau…it ended his relationship with FBI agent Jaid Marlowe, the only woman he had ever allowed close.
It’s eight years later and a DC killer is targeting high profile targets for execution. Jaid and Adam are brought together on the same task force tracking the offender. But the deeper they look the more this case seems all wrapped up in the one eight years earlier. And when suspicion falls on Adam, Jaid has to decide whether to play it safe and risk everything for the one man she’s never forgotten…or stopped loving.

I think every series has to end at some point. However, of course some of them I love more than others.
I definitely like second-chance books but only if the hero/heroine redeems himself/herself. If that's not the case I get frustrated.
Thanks for the giveaway!

Congrats to Kylie on the new release. I do enjoy series. It's nice to see familiar faces through out the books. I also like second chance couples. It does give you hope that it's possible to have another chance at love.
I do enjoy reading a series and I do like second chance couples. But there should be a good reason for things not working out in the first place. Also the characters should be developed later and should redeem themselves.
Thanks for the giveaway!:)

My favourite book series is the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and I would love if it never ended. But I know it would :( And as far as I'm concerned, I like second chances, but I prefer if the couple meets and then they fall in love with each other and maybe even get married :)
Thanks for the chance to win,

I love series, but sometimes, they do just have to end. Life becomes a habit, or a pattern, and it's just not exciting reading.
I do like second chance couples. Sometimes people do just need a break from each other.
