My Review:

Lydia Carlton has agreed to accompany Edgar in his mission to prove that he is related to the Blue Knight Earl and his lineage.

In this volume Lydia and Edgar and company travel to the Isle of Manan where the Blue Knight use to live at one time to retrieve his sword.  One night Nico overhears Ermine ask Edgar not to hurt Lydia and them talking of their past as slaves.  Edgar catches Nico and tries to throw him into the fire but is stopped by Ermine.  Later that night Lydia catches Edgar and Ermine kissing and she runs off to bump into Raven.  He tries to comfort her since he knows she is afraid of him.  He tells her of the dark spirit that possesses him and how Edgar saved him.

Nico warns Lydia not to trust Edgar once they reach the Isle of Manan.  Edgar asks Lydia to accompany him and she confronts him by accidentally mentioning what she saw the other night.  Edgar explains that he and Ermine aren't lovers but are very close friends.

They finally find the castle when they are confronted by Huxley who demands that Edgar give Lydia to him.  Raven and Ermine finally catch up to them only to run into Lydia's father who believes she was kidnapped by a thief.  Edgar then confesses his love for Lydia and asks her dad for her hand.  Edgar asks Ermine to take Lydia away but they are surrounded by Huxley's gang.  They are taken back to the castle and jailed.  Ermine has been hurt to make Lydia cooperate.  Ermine also informs Lydia of Edgar's true intentions of sacrificing her to obtain the sword.  Edgar and Raven arrive and rescue them.

They go underground where Ermine jumps off a cliff taking Lydia with her to stop Edgar's search for the sword.  Raven manages to grab Lydia who he hands off to Edgar.  Raven catches Ermine too but she demands that Raven set her free and so he reluctantly lets her fall to her death.

They continue on their search when they find a Merrow who tells them the sword is right in front of them.  Edgar falls for the trap and rushes towards it but Lydia happens to know its a reflection and manages to grab the real sword.   Edgar grabs it from her but he can't bring himself to kill her so he spills his own blood.  He is enslaved by the Merrow and Lydia makes a deal with the leader that Edgar would become the next Blue Knight to protect them.
