Manga Review: Dawn of the Arcana, Vol. 5 [Paperback]

I've finished "Dawn of the Arcana Vol. 5" by Rei Toma.

Product Description

Reads R to L (Japanese Style), for audiences rated teen.

Princess Nakaba of Senan is forced to marry Prince Caesar of the enemy country Belquat, tantamount to becoming a hostage. While Caesar is pleasing to the eye, he is also selfish and possessive, telling Nakaba outright: “You are my property.” With only her attendant Loki at her side, Nakaba must find a way to cope with her hostile surroundings, her fake marriage ... and a mysterious power!

Princess Nakaba of Senan and Prince Caesar of Belquat only married each other for the sake of peace between their two warring countries, and no one expected there to be love between the unlikely couple. But as Nakaba and Caesar grow close, political forces threaten to tear them apart — especially when Caesar’s brother Cain leads an attack on a village Nakaba is trying to save! As things heat up, will Caesar be able to protect Nakaba against his own brother?

About the Author

Rei Toma has been drawing since childhood, but she only began drawing manga because of her graduation project in design school. When she drew a short-story manga, Help Me, Dentist, for the first time, it attracted a publisher's attention and she made her debut right away. Her magnificent art style became popular, and after she debuted as a manga artist, she became known as an illustrator for novels and video game character designs. Her current manga series, Dawn of the Arcana, is her first long-running manga series, and it has been a hit in Japan, selling over a million copies.

My Review:

Princess Nakaba, Prince Caesar, Loki and company are on their way to an Ajin village to warn them of an attack and to run and hide.  Along the way they almost fall off a cliff but a Anjin saves them and they also meet a boy who has the Arcana of Fire.  The Anjin brings them to their leader who is old rabbit and they inform him that the village is going to be under attack and they should leave.

The leader tells them they are prepared to fight and defend their village but Caesar and Nakaba says that the soldiers have more advanced weapons.  The leader refuses to run and lets them stay for the night.  In the morning they try to convince him once again but then a villager tells them they are under attack.  They all come up with a plan that the Anjin leader will take all of them prisoners since the person in charge is Caesar's older half brother Cain.

When Cain demands the Anjin surrender he notices that they have prisoners.  Both sides agree to let the women free and Cain takes Nakaba and her sister-in-law back to camp.  Cain and Nakaba have a nice and long talk that night.  Her sister-in-law informs her the next morning that Cain was lying about not hating Caesar and he wouldn't destroy the village.

Nakaba learns that her sister-in-law has the Arcana of Truth and they are hurrying to try to save the village when they notice there is fire.  They manage to find the villagers but the guys haven't arrived so they go looking for them.
