I've finished "Black Bird Vol. 10" by Kanoko Sakurakoji.

Product Description

Reads R to L (Japanese Style)

The past returns to haunt Kyo and Misao when Kyo’s long-lost father suddenly reappears. But the reunion is less than happy, for Lord Yo is suspected of murdering his wife! Misao learns the real story of the deadly incident, but it is hardly comforting. Should she tell Kyo about his mother’s fate or should she protect him from a truth he might not want to know?

My Review (Spoilers:

The covers just keep getting prettier and prettier each volume.

In this volume Misao becomes closer to Lord Yo Kyo's father and she learns the what really happened that fateful night when his wife was found dead.  Lord Yo is suspected of killing his wife and then he disappeared between 5 to 10 years somewhere and no one knows where he went.  He is known as a great leader who is always cheerful and smiling, fair ruler but very calm during fights and an excellent swordsman.

Kyo blames his dad for his mother's death and won't have anything to do with him and forbids Misao from talking to him.  He overhears Lord Yo talking to Misao about what really happened that night.  We learn that she made a great wife and great mother but she betrayed him.  She couldn't live with her betrayal so she drank poisoned tea.

We also learn that Sho isn't dead but alive and allied with the Nuu clan who are known for their viciousness.  Sho has turned up at the village and the villagers have allowed him back in until Kyo comes back and deals with it.  Kyo agrees to let Sho stay there for the time being.  Also we find out that the whole Nuu clan has been wiped out and Sho has shown the Nuu's leader's head to the villagers.

5/5
