First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, Book 1) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Drop of Crimson" the 1st book in her Night Huntress World series by Jeaniene Frost.

Product Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Night Huntress series comes a breathtaking new journey to the dark side of desire.

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows — her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield — and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness — and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who lusts for a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human — even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the nightmare together . . .
Because once the first crimson drop falls, they will both be lost.

My Review:
I was very excited when I heard that Spade would be getting his own book and Denise would be his heroine.  Really enjoyed learning about his backstory and how he met Bones and Ian.

I really did like Denise in the Night Huntress books but after reading this one I didn't really like his character.  Her personality was so different a complete turn around and I hated how she treated Spade.  She would always question his logic and motives, she was either harping at him or yelling at him and she wouldn't listen to him.  Didn't really like how she guilt tripped him to help her.

Spade on the other hand was very hot and an alpha male.  He didn't want to hurt Denise because she was Cat's best friend but he has always been attracted to her since the first time he saw her.

Wow the love scenes were pretty hot and intense!
3.5/5

I absolutely loved this book but it seemed to me that in subsequent books they just don't have the same great feel to them. I am hoping the next one is as good as the first one was.

Lol wow I didn't even pay attention to the fact that this one is about Spade. I just knew it was by Frost and a spin off of her other series that I love. I'm happy to know more about Spade though I'm sorry you didn't fully enjoy this one.
