Susan Kearney Guest Post

1600 years ago, Jordan was the sole survivor of a ruthless Tribe attack which annihilated his world. To stop the Tribes deadly galactic conquest from continuing, he followed the Tribes to Earth, assumed the name Merlin and assisted King Arthur and his Knights to save Earth. When Arthur died, Camelot fell and Jordan lost his Ancient Staff. Now, over 1000 years later, the Tribes are back and so is Jordan. He’s recovered his Ancient Staff and is again on the trail of the Holy Grail to save Earth and protect the galaxy.

Vivianne Blackstone is a lady with her own agenda. An American businesswoman, self-made billionaire and a fighter from the get-go, she’s confident, capable and a definite type A personality. One of Earth’s brightest and most loyal citizens, she vows to do her part to save the planet when she learns the Tribes are on the move again.

Jordan and Vivianne team up to save Earth and along the way they fall in love. But according to galactic legend, there’s only 1 way to defeat the Tribes: Uniting the Ancient Staff with the Holy Grail. There’s only one catch, Jordan cannot live without the Ancient Staff. To defeat the Tribes and save Earth, he must perish.

Please take it away, Susan!

As a writer I have many hobbies. Some of them are a bit strange.  I grew up at the pool and learned swimming was hard work. But diving—that was magic. Who couldn’t imagine the joy of launching oneself into the air, spinning and twisting then knifing through the water only to climb out and get to do it all over again?

Of course that tower dive, the platform, thirty three feet up in the air, was a bit tougher. Striking the water wrong could be painful. And I still recall the gut-wrenching fear of throwing myself into the air the first time I tried a new dive. And yeah — that fear often makes it into my books. When my characters have to face a villain, or when they fly through the eye of a hurricane, or when they are about to risk their life in battle.

Luckily for me I didn’t crash off the platform as many times as my characters run into peril. But my other sports from karate to figure skating end up in my books in odd ways. When I can’t feel my feet from the cold, it ends up in a book. A good side thrust kick always has a place in a space fight, too.

Another hobby of mine is belly dancing. I’m not very good but it’s great for strengthening the abs —something I need as a writer. Too much time in front of the computer is not good for the hips and thighs —never mind the back.

But all my hobbies aren’t sports, I love to travel and recently took a trip to the orient. I came back with pictures of dragons and stories that helped me create worlds. I loved China, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai. From the modern architecture to the Great Wall, the landscape inspired me. The Grand Palace, or one like it, is sure to end up in a book—research that I enjoy and which is tax deductible too.

Of course, I’d love to go to other planets to research my books or time travel into the future . . . but those are hobbies I hope to have one day. In the meantime, I’ll have to settle for my imagination and writing books like Lucan, Rion, and Jordan where the universe is bent to my liking. In the meantime, if you’d like to see more about my visions for the future you can watch video or read excerpts or listen to interviews on my site. http://www.susankearney.com/

Thank you Susan for being here today with a Guest Post, I greatly appreciate it!
