My Review:

Very fast paced and really sexly charged!  I highly recommend reading this book if you like romantic suspense!

Elijah and Jo are great together and how can you resist their sexly charged romantic banter?  (I will quote some lines later on tonight or tomorrow)!

Elijah loves to call Jo "Sweetpea" and he is always confusing her with his come ons.  They have a love-hate relationship since childhood.

Shattered (Hardcover)

Product Description

Secret, betrayal, and a mysterious family history plague the heroine in the latest novel from New York Times-bestselling author Karen Robards.

The past is never over. It just gets dusty.

Lisa Shewmaker was a rising star in a prestigious law firm in Lexington, Kentucky; that is, until the firm went bankrupt and she lost her job. With an ailing mother to care for, Lisa takes the first position she can find: research assistant to District Attorney Scott Buchanan. Scott is as disagreeable as he is sexy, and Lisa suspects the only reason she got the job is because of her privileged upbringing as the daughter of a wealthy federal judge.

While reviewing cold cases in the Fayette County courthouse, a particularly thick manila envelope draws Lisa's attention. The details of the case are engrossing: An entire family-father, mother, and two children-disappeared more than twenty-eight years ago. Except that's not all: The mother in the photo could have been Lisa's twin, and the toddler in the picture bears an uncanny resemblance to Lisa herself. Before Lisa can learn more about her past, a series of catastrophes strike close to home. Lisa confides in Scott, and their relationship develops into something completely different. Together Lisa and Scott unravel a terrifying web of criminal connections that could destroy the very fabric of Lisa's life-if she lives long enough, that is.

Heather Kuehl - Q & A

I am so excited to have Heather here in a Q and A here at Razlover's Book Blog.

Heather is currrently touring to promote her new release “Promise to Keep" and she also is the author of "Fade to Black".

For more information about the books, please visit:

http://sites.google.com/site/malevolentdead/

Please take it away, Heather!

1. Tell us what your books are about?

My most recent release, entitled PROMISES TO KEEP, is about Starlette DeFore. Starlette knows her father is alive, even though her family buried him ten years ago. And when a faerie confirms this she travels to Charleston, South Carolina to hunt down Sivad Night, the only person to have ever escaped from the hands of a powerful sorceress, The Dark Lady Dreashae. With help from a witch they travel into Verella, a fantasy realm filled with centaurs, dragons, and magic. Starlette is very close to finding her father, but first she must defeat Dreashae. Will Starlette, a mere mortal, have the strength needed to finish her quest and save her father?

FADE TO BLACK is the name of my other book. That one is about one of my favorite character, Sarah Vargas. Werewolf bounty hunter Sarah Vargas has only one goal in life; to kill the Were that attacked and changed her. However a slew of werecreature murders send Sarah and her partner, Jared Fontaine, on the mission of their lives, ending with a discovery about Jared’s past that might destroy them both.

Both of these are available now from Eternal Press: http://www.eternalpress.biz/ Or you can get your print copy from Amazon.com

2. How did you first become interested in writing?

It was a writing assignment in sixth grade that got me interested. We had to create stories about how the holidays were created. I think mine was about a unicorn creating Easter. Our teacher had us illustrate them, and then she laminated the covers and bound them for us to give to our parents. I can remember the way I felt when I saw my name “in print” and I knew that I wanted to write. I knew that I wanted to see my name on a book inside a major bookstore.

3. Do you write on schedule?

I’ve tried, but I just can’t. I have a sixteen month old son that wants 100% of my attention at all times. I do what I can when he naps, but I usually get the brunt of my writing done after he goes to sleep for the night. The only thing I do on a schedule that’s writing related is updating my website and online information. I wake up before my son so that I can get all of that completed.

4. Do you listen to music when you write? If so, what type of music do you listen to and why?

It depends on the character. When I wrote PROMISES TO KEEP music only distracted me, but when I wrote FADE TO BLACK I needed that bass pounding in my ears. However, I can never write in silence. To me, silence is like looking at a blank page and it’s too easy to get nothing done.

When writing FADE, I listened to Evanescence’s “Fallen” for the first half of the book. Amy Lee’s lyrics said exactly what Sarah was feeling. But once Sarah discovered Jared’s secret, it was Avenged Sevenfold’s “City of Evil.” To explain that would give too much away; you’ll just have to read FADE TO BLACK to discover the reason why.

5. What are some of your favorite authors or genres?

I love to read what I write, which is paranormal/fantasy/romance. Some of my favorite authors are Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

6. What's on your next to do list?

Well, I just finished writing MALEVOLENT DEAD, the sequel to FADE TO BLACK and the second book in the Sarah Vargas series. I’m still editing it, making sure I’m happy with it before I start submitting. I’ve finished the outline to BLOOD MOON, the third and (possibly) final book in the Sarah Vargas series. I plan to have that finished by July.

A full list of my works in progress can be found on the main page of my website: http://sites.google.com/site/malevolentdead

7. What genre would you like to write?

Before I started getting books published I wrote short stories, many of which you can find published in various online ‘zines. I’ve dabbled in almost every genre and I have to say I love the one I’ve settled into. Paranormal/fantasy/romances allows you to write about anything. I can write about vampires in dark allies one moment and dragons flying through the sky in the next.

Thank you Heather for being here today answering my Q & A, I greatly appreciate it!

Moonlight Road (Virgin River) (Mass Market Paperback)

I've finished reading "Moonlight Road" the ____ book in her Virgin River series by Robyn Carr.

Product Description

With her beloved younger siblings settled and happy, Erin Foley has empty nest syndrome. At age thirty-five.

So she's hitting the pause button on her life and holing up in a secluded (but totally upgraded—she's not into roughing it) cabin near Virgin River. Erin is planning on getting to know herself…not the shaggy-haired mountain man she meets.

In fact, beneath his faded fatigues and bushy beard, Aiden Riordan is a doctor, recharging for a summer after leaving the navy. He's intrigued by the pretty, slightly snooty refugee from the rat race—her meditating and journaling are definitely keeping him at arm's length. He'd love to get closer…if his scruffy exterior and crazy ex-wife don't hold him back.

But maybe it's something in the water— unlikely romances seem to take root in Virgin River…helped along by some well-intentioned meddling, of course.

My Review:

I have to admit I didn't really like Erin at first because I though she was rude, stuck up and a sissy!  Then after she got to know Aiden I started liking her!

I really liked Aiden because he's really a great guy who treats woman right, loves his family and supports them, etc.

I'm glad that Erin gave Aiden a chance to get to know her and their romance was not really steamy but sweet!

I also liked seeing former Virgin River heros and their heroines!

Blood Vines (Hardcover)

I've finished reading "Blood Vines" by Erica Spindler.

Product Description

In this bare-knuckled adrenaline ride from New York Times bestselling author Erica Spindler, Alex Clarkson’s worst nightmares are about to come true…

A sinister, hooded figure…

When Alexandra Clarkson starts having terrifying visions filled with blood and ceremonial images, she tries to find a rational explanation – maybe her mind is playing tricks on her, resurrecting creepy tableaux from her research on religious ceremonies and sects. But when Alex’s mother, Patsy, commits suicide without leaving behind any information, Alex is left wondering: could she be haunted by something from the childhood she doesn’t remember?

Naked, writhing bodies…

Detective Daniel Reed was the last person to speak to Patsy. What he reveals to Alex is shocking. Twenty-five years earlier, Patsy was married to Harlan Sommer, one of Sonoma County’s most prominent vintners, when their infant son disappeared without a trace. The loss destroyed the Sommers’ marriage, causing Patsy to leave and take Alex with her.

A dead child…

Called on to investigate the identity of a baby’s remains unearthed in a Sonoma vineyard, Reed had picked up a trail that led him to Patsy in San Francisco. Now Reed and Alex both wonder if the cold bones could be her baby brother Dylan, and Alex decides to accompany Reed back to Sonoma for the investigation. No sooner does she arrive, however, than she is drawn deep into the search for a twisted killer…

Speak No Evil: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)

Silence is deadly.

The murder of eighteen-year-old Angie Vance was exceptionally vile–her mouth was sealed with glue, an obscenity scrawledwas across her skin, and she was suffocated in a garbage bag. The killing seems personal, so police detective Carina Kincaid focuses her efforts on the victim’s much older ex-boyfriend, Steve Thomas. But without physical evidence, Carina can’t make a collar or a case. She also can’t stop Sheriff Nick Thomas, the prime suspect’s brother, from conducting his own unwelcome investigation.

Though Nick is still scarred and unsteady from a recent confrontation with a serial killer, he’s determined to prove his brother’s innocence. But his confidence is shaken when he learns of Steve’s dark side, and when a friend of the murdered girl meets a similarly gruesome fate. With no time to lose, Carina and Nick work together to trap a psychopath, before another unlucky woman faces an unspeakable end.

Bound by Love (Mass Market Paperback)

I've finished reading "Bound by Love" by Rosemary Rogers.

Product Description

The illegitimate daughter of the Russian czar, Leonida arrives at the estate of Stefan, the Duke of Huntley, with secrets…and a mission. Searching for covert documents sequestered in Stefan's massive library, she is the perfect guest—and the perfect spy.

Fascinated by her flawless beauty and her intriguing air of mystery, Stefan draws intimately closer…and Leonida, bound by duty to her family and country, finds herself utterly captivated. Yet as danger and desire meet in a tangled web of espionage and deceit, the two will face a choice that can be made only by love itself.

My Review:

I loved reading this book and it was quite fast paced!  I usually don't read historical romances but Rosemary is one author I will read!

Storyline: I enjoyed the storyline because Leonida wants to help her mom but also she felt guility not telling the truth to Stefan and his brother and wife.
Characters: All the characters were well written and you got to know them and care for them.

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Stefan and Leonida because they both are loners and they understood what each was going through.  Leonida was quite a match for Stefan because she's a strong character and she didn't need a man to lean on.

Killer(s): The killers were quite vile and horrendous. Glad to see they got what was coming to them.  I wished the scenes were more graphic though!

Speak No Evil: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)

Product Description

Evil has spoken. Now see what it can do.

Shades of Midnight: A Midnight Breed Novel (Midnight Breed Series) (Mass Market Paperback)

I've finished reading "Shades of Midnight" the 7th book in her Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian.

Product Description

In a frozen wilderness steeped in darkness, the lines between good and evil, lover and enemy, are never black or white but drawn in Shades of Midnight.

Something inhuman is stalking the frigid Alaskan wilds, leaving unspeakable carnage in its wake. For bush pilot Alexandra Maguire, the killings stir memories of a horrific event she witnessed as a child and evoke in her the inexplicable sense of otherness she has long felt within herself but never fully understood . . . until a darkly seductive stranger with secrets of his own enters her world.

Sent from Boston on a mission to investigate the savage attacks and stop the slaughter, vampire warrior Kade has his own reasons for returning to the frigid, forbidding place of his birth. Haunted by a secret shame, Kade soon realizes the stunning truth of the threat he faces–a threat that will jeopardize the fragile bond he has formed with the courageous, determined young woman who arouses his deepest passions and most primal hungers. But in bringing Alex into his world of blood and darkness, Kade must confront both his own personal demons and the even greater evil that could destroy all he holds dear.

AUTHOR BIO

I started creating books at the age of five, or so my mother tells me. And she has the proof — a neatly penciled story, the pages lavishly illustrated with full color crayon drawings of horses and bound with staples — to back up her claim. I have since moved on from Westerns to writing about Regency England, a time and place that has captured my imagination ever since I opened the covers of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

I have a BA and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University and now work as the creative director of a lifestyle sporting magazine, a job which lets me combine my love of the printed word with my love of art. I’m very fortunate in that my work allows me to travel to interesting destinations around the world — however, my favorite spot is London, where the funky antique markets and used book stores offer a wealth of inspiration for my stories.  You can reach her on her website at http://www.caraelliott.com/

My Review:

A really great read from a first time writer and I highly recommend reading!

I didn't really like Libby because I thought she was giving mixed signals to the sheriff after telling him she wasn't interested in dating at the moment and she decided to ignore the signals that he was interested in her and wouldn't take NO for an answer. (ex: agreed to go with him to dinner to discuss the case and decided to wear a form fitting shirt and a short skirt and got into the same truck as him - no wonder he jumped her)

I also didn't really like the sheriff because he was useless and didn't really want to solve the crime.  He also puts down people and says very bad things about them with no feelings!  He wouldn't take NO for an answer when Libby told him she wasn't interested in dating and I think he thought he was Gods Gift to Women, LOL!

I liked Luke because he was caring and didn't push Libby when he knew she wasn't ready to get involved.  He was there to help her with her dogs and puppies and whenever she needed someone.  I did like the romance between him and Libby because it was sweet and romantic.

I also liked the supporting characters!

Manga Review: Vampire Knight, Vol. 9 (Paperback)

I've finished reading "Vampire Knight Vol. 9 by Matsuri Hino.

At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, protecting the Day Class from the Academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires!

A war among vampires has started at Cross Academy, and even Day Class students are being attacked. Kaname finally reveals his hidden plan to Zero, and Zero must choose on which side he will fight. But in order for Zero to defeat the enemy, he will have to take part in an atrocious act...

About the Author

Matsuri Hino burst onto the manga scene with her title Kono Yume ga Sametara (When This Dream Is Over), which was published in LaLa DX magazine. Hino was a manga artist a mere nine months after she decided to become one. With the success of her popular series Captive Hearts and MeruPuri, Hino has established herself as a major player in the world of shojo manga. Vampire Knight is currently serialized in LaLa and Shojo Beat magazines.

My Review:

I highly recommend reading this series and it only gets better with every volume.

I like the cover with Yuki in the middle between the two guys in her life Zero and Kaname.

Alot of things is starting to happen in this volume and things are becoming more violent and bloody now that Rido has been resurrected.

Zero's relationship with his twin Ichiru reaches a shocking climax with a tragic outcome but I'm not going to spoil it for you!

Kaname doesn't want to leave Yuki's side now in her form  but she won't leave because her friends are threatened!

Yuki finally makes her move against Rido and it's very fast paced and exciting especially when Zero arrives!

I can't wait till Vol. 10 comes out!

Fiona Jayde Guest Post

I am so excited to have Fiona Jayde here to talk about her book "Pas de Deux" in a Guest Post here at Razlover's Book Blog.

Fiona Jayde is currrently touring to promote her new release “Pas de Deux".

Fiona is a space pilot, a ninth degree black belt in three styles of martial arts, a computer hacker, a mountain climber, a jazz singer, a weight lifter, a superspy with a talent for languages, and an evil genius.

All in her own head.

In life, she is an author of kickass, action packed, steamy romances, possesses a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do and blue belt in Aikido, a web developer, scared to death of heights, loves jazz piano, can bench-press about 20 pounds — with effort, speaks English and Russian fluently, and when not plotting murder and mayhem enjoys steamy romance novels, sexy spy thrillers, murky mysteries and movies where things frequently blow up. Her website is: http://www.fionajayde.com/

Thanks so much Goddessfish.com for connecting us on this blog tour!

Pas De Deux is a contemporary erotic romance with a bit of suspense thrown in.

One wrong move, and she could be dancing on her grave…

Two years after an injury put her dancing career on hold, Lynnrina Kovaleva is determined to reclaim her place on the stage. On the eve of her comeback production, she takes the edge off her nerves with a one-night stand in the strong arms of celebrity bodyguard Mateo Rivera.

Ex-cop Mateo is celebrating one hell of an anniversary: eight months since he was declared unfit for duty. When a delicate beauty boldly propositions him in a bar, he chooses to lose himself in her body rather than lose his mind to alcohol. This choice comes back to haunt him when he’s hired to protect a prima ballerina who’s been receiving threats.

Despite her shock at seeing him again, Lynn must not allow their intense attraction—or any creepy fan letters—to undermine her performance. Mateo can’t reconcile this coldly focused dancer with the passionate woman who seduced him. Yet he sees fire under the ice, pain hidden by the smooth mask of perfection.

The vivid memory of their entwined bodies wars with the job at hand, but he must keep Lynn safe—regardless of the cost. The most difficult challenge, however, will be keeping his hands to himself.

Warning: Contains jetés, pliés, a chilling touch of danger, and the boiling heat of an unwanted attraction that combusts into passionate sex.

Please take it away, Fiona!

Fiona's Idea Closet

Ideas are my favorite parts about writing. Ideas are also the most frustrating elusive dragonflies in the whole process, slipping away at the worst moments, or hammering at my head when the last thing I have on me is a pen to write the damned things down.

I love the little buggers. And I'll share with you my secrets of acquiring them.

My first secret is something I call Input and Output. Authors are notorious outputters - but like any fine tuned machine, we need fuel to keep us running at our best. My fuel is books and movies and TV shows, usually having nothing to do with what I'm brainstorming about. I can't concentrate on more then one thing at a time, so if I'm engrossed in a good book or a good show, I'm not thinking how something might fit into what I'm writing about. I simply cast a net and see what's catching, without worrying if it's something I can use.

My second secret depends on this general "net" of ideas. What to do with them? This is where I tell you guys about my fascination with dreaming.

I love dreams. I love to interpret them and think about them and talk about them. When I was in high school, a few friends and I formed a dream club, to talk about our dreams (and gossip, of course). I learned something interesting - if you actually try to remember you dreams - to the point of writing them down - the more dreams you end up remembering. I'm not sure how this works, but it's sort of like a positive reinforcement for your memory. Dreams are as fleeting as ideas. But as I consistently encouraged myself to remember them by talking about them and/or writing them down, I found myself remembering them more and more. (Try it! I bet it'll work!)... This is the approach I apply to my idea gathering from my input. I explore ideas, I encourage them, I write them down - even if they have nothing to do with what I'm writing at the moment. Anything that interests me, goes into my notebook. (Or my ideas only email address - yes I am a geek!)

With time, the ideas get refined so that the ones that get your attention more and more pertain to what you're writing. My second book ever - a sci-fi erotic romance GrimJustin:DisArmed resulted from such an idea: I'd taken up running and my knees were not thrilled with the fact. My heroine ended up having survived major knee injuries, and the reason for those injuries carried the whole plot.

When brainstorming Pas De Deux, I watched a number of ballet documentaries. (This is the secret I share with everyone who listens - Netflix if an idea goldmine!) The main plotline of Pas De Deux came to me from something someone said during a documentary. (And one could just see the flashbulb light up above my head!!)

My last secret is "inactive brainstorming" or "daydreaming". I'm one of those people who can't stare at a wall for long periods of time. I have to be doing something to enable my mind to wonder freely. That something could be walking, driving, doing dishes, or knitting. Seriously, I have a red lumpy thing that for the most part, resembles a scarf. My recently released novellas - Cold Victory, DragonSlayer and Pas De Deux could be seen in the yarn.

The motion of the needles is so repetitive, that I can lose myself in my day dreams while actively shutting up my analytical side by making it concentrate on forming stitches. It works beautifully. And the cats love it!... I may look like an old lady in my rocking chair with two cats fighting for space on my lap with big old knitting needles, but the fight scenes and space battles and love scenes that go on in my head are worth it :)

Thank you Fiona Jayde for being here today to talk about "Pas De Deux", I greatly appreciate it!

Fiona Jayde will be giving a $15 Amazon gift certificate to a random commenter on her blog tour so please don't forget to comment here to have a chance to win.
