My Review:
10 years ago in Denver, teenagers Snake "Dez" Mendez and Reese Montana met and fell in love while defeating Cobra. Their relationship ends when insane winikin Louis Keban, who Dez had run away from before he hooked up with Reese caught up to the teen. Keban cut Dez with a cursed blade that changed and turned him into a demonic possessed felon.
The Nightkeepers recruit Dez and removes the shadows from his brain. He fights evil in New Mexico which he believes he has an IOU for all the damage he did as a criminal. Then Dez falls off the and the Nightkeepers leader Strike hires PI Reese to find him. Reese believed Dez died three years ago in an incident. She finally locates him and Dez convinces her to help him find Keban and stop him from fulfilling a prophecy that will bring Lord Vulture from the underworld. He doesn't mention the role he plays in this prophecy.
I really enjoyed the pairing of Dez and Reese because the dynamics between them was very thrilling and Dez keeps Reese on her toes rather he will has changed from being bad to actually doing good. Also he has to convince her how much he really wants her.
I also love how Ms. Andersen incorporates all the research she has done on the Mayan prophecy and builds her world around it.
Also really enjoyed how all the Nightkeepers have a role in helping save the world from evil.
4/5
