Dying Scream (Paperback)

I've just finished reading an ARC of "Dying Scream" the 3rd book by Mary Burton.

Product Description

No One Will Find You

An aspiring artist. A high-school senior. A stripper. Three women who seemed to have nothing in common except their sudden disappearance. But one man knew them all. Wealthy, privileged Craig Thornton even claimed to love them. And for that, they paid the ultimate price.

No One Will Save You

When Adrianna Barrington receives an anniversary card from her husband Craig, she assumes it's some crackpot's idea of a joke. After all, Craig is dead. But then come phone calls, flowers, messages. . .all reminding her how much Craig misses her. While Adrianna begins to doubt her sanity, grisly remains are found on the Thornton estate. Detective Gage Hudson is convinced the bodies are linked to Craig. But the biggest shocks are yet to come.

No One Will Hear You Scream

A psychopath has taken up his chilling work again, each death a prelude to the moment when she is under his control at last. And the only way for Gage and Adrianna to stop him is to uncover the truth about a family's dark past--and a twisted love that someone will kill for, again and again. . .

My Review:

Storyline:  There were two storylines the first has to do with finding out who were murdering all the women and why?  The second was the love story between Gage & Adrianna which I thought was great!!!

Characters: All the characters were well written and you got to know them and care for them.

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Gage & Adrianna because I enjoy books where the main characters are former lovers who find their way back to each other and they both are tortured and really still love each other.  Glad to see they are together at the end and finally saying "I Love You"!!!

Killer(s): The main killer was just sick and perverted and I'm glad he got what was coming to him.  His accompliance was also sick in the head but at least he wasn't perverted and finding out a secret about him was quite a surprise to me. Never saw that one coming!!!

Cry Mercy: A Mercy Street Novel (Mercy Street Novels)

I've just finished reading "Cry Mercy" the 2nd book in her Mercy Street series by Mariah Stewart.

Product Description

After Ann Nolan, a California beat cop, adopts the daughter of a notorious drug dealer, the ruthless father vows to take back his only child. In response, Ann flees across the country, changes her name, and starts a new life as an investigator for the Mercy Street Foundation, the billionaire-endowed organization dedicated to finding missing persons. As Emme Caldwell, she takes the lead on the Foundation's first case: Nineteen-year-old Belinda Hudson disappeared from her sorority house leaving behind only one cryptic clue. Retracing the vanished student's steps leads Emme to Heaven's Gate, a fertility clinic, and the mysterious Donor 1735.

Belinda's legal guardian, Nick Perone, is determined to shadow Emme's every move as she searches for his niece. But the closer Emme gets to Donor 1735 and the chilling truth, the more apparent it becomes that she's escaped one dangerous man only to run head-on into another-one who's far more determined and every bit as deadly.

About the Author

Mariah Stewart is the award-winning author of the Last series: Last Look, Last Words, and Last Breath; the Truth series: Cold Truth, Hard Truth, Dark Truth, and Final Truth; and the Dead series: Dead Even, Dead Wrong, Dead Certain, and Dead End; as well as Forgotten, Until Dark, and The President's Daughter. She is the recipient of the Golden Leaf Award and the Award of Excellence presented by the Colorado Romance Writers, and has been a finalist for the Holt Medallion. Her books have been nominated for several awards from Romantic Times magazine, including Best Contemporary Romance and Best Contemporary Novel. Stewart is a native of Hightstown, New Jersey, and lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and their two daughters.

My Review:

Storyline: There is three storylines going on and they were both quite interesting.  First one has to do with Ann/Emme and her adopted daughter Chloe staying one ahead of her father a drug dealer.  I can understand why she would lie to protect her Chloe.  The second one has to do with Nick and his niece Belinda who he believes is dead and to find out who killed her and why plus some other murders that is connected to Belinda.  The third one has to do with Robert, his wife and son.  He doesn't know what happened to them or their car so he is searching for them.

Characters: All the characters were well written except the killer/accomplice.  I liked all the main characters and the killer/accomplice I would have liked to have learned more about them.

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Emme & Nick because it was sweet and they took their time to get to know each other before making love.

Killer:  The main killer was just sick and perverted and I'm glad he got what was coming to him.  His accomplice was also sick but kind of scared of the main killer so they kept the secret.  Didn't know much about the killer and accomplice.

Once Upon a Nightmare (Paperback)

Product Description

On the night of October thirteenth, the Hunter's Moon descended upon the quiet town of White Chapel. As Sara Bishop drifted off to sleep under its soft illumination, the full moon seemed to have brought with it something far more sinister than a warm glow. At once, the nightmare started. But this wasn't any ordinary nightmare… This one seemed real ─ as if she could smell it, feel it, taste it. It was one of those dreams ─ one that awakened her witch-like sense ─ a harbinger of heartbreak and now, horror. Together with Rebecca Parker, the only other person who understood her gift, someone who had experienced her own strange senses, Sara hoped to come to terms with this ominous nightmare. But her closest friend and next door neighbor was no where to be found ─ not since the night of October thirteenth. And so it begins. With little help from her skeptical husband or local police, Sara finds herself virtually alone as her grisly dreams crawl from the darkness to become a sick and twisted reality ─ a reality where she has become the ultimate desire of a sadistic serial killer. As images of death, phantoms and shadows surround Sara in this Halloween season, she needs to listen to the whispers in her mind, use her gift, to unmask those around her, for one of them is the man from her nightmare. And he sees her when she's sleeping… He knows when she's awake. When the next full moon descends upon White Chapel, he will reveal himself to her. And under its silvery glow, a new nightmare will be born. Will Sara Bishop have to experience death itself to stop this killer? Or will her nightmare never end?

Rainwater [DECKLE EDGE] (Hardcover)

Product Description

The year is 1934. With the country in the stranglehold of drought and economic depression, Ella Barron runs her Texas boardinghouse with an efficiency that ensures her life will be kept in balance. Between chores of cooking and cleaning for her residents, she cares for her ten-year-old son, Solly, a sweet but challenging child whose misunderstood behavior finds Ella on the receiving end of pity, derision, and suspicion.

When David Rainwater arrives at the house looking for lodging, he comes recommended by a trusted friend as "a man of impeccable character." But Ella senses that admitting Mr. Rainwater will bring about unsettling changes.

However, times are hard, and in order to make ends meet, Ella's house must remain one hundred percent occupied. So Mr. Rainwater moves into her house...and impacts her life in ways Ella could never have foreseen.

The changes are echoed by the turbulence beyond the house walls. Friends and neighbors who've thus far maintained a tenuous grip on their meager livelihoods now face foreclosure and financial ruin. In an effort to save their families from homelessness and hunger, farmers and cattlemen are forced to make choices that come with heartrending consequences.

The climate of desperation creates a fertile atmosphere for racial tensions and social unrest. Conrad Ellis -- privileged and spoiled and Ella's nemesis since childhood -- steps into this arena of teeming hostility to exact his vengeance and demonstrate the extent of his blind hatred and unlimited cruelty. He and his gang of hoodlums come to embody the rule of law, and no one in Gilead, Texas, is safe. Particularly Ella and Solly.

In this hotbed of uncertainty, Ella finds Mr. Rainwater a calming presence. She is moved by the kindness he shows other boarders, Solly...and Ella herself. Slowly, she begins to rely on his soft-spokenness, his restraint, and the steely resolve of his convictions.

And on the hottest, most violent night of the summer, those principles will be put to the ultimate test.

Angel Lane (Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Angel Lane" by Sheila Roberts.

Product Description

Keep the heart in Heart Lake. That’s exactly what three small-town shop owners hope to do when they launch their crazy-ambitious “Have a Heart” campaign—asking neighbors to commit one random act of kindness every day. Emma, Sarah, and Jamie love their lakeside community, but the little town is growing too big too fast, and a doing a good deed never hurt anyone. Or so they thought…

When Emma slashes prices at her quilt shop, practically giving away blankets to anyone who looks vaguely cold, she almost stitches her way into bankruptcy. Sarah’s free cooking class boils down to a hotbed of crime when some punk kid swipes her favorite heirloom. And at Jamie’s chocolate shop, things take a bittersweet turn when a local policeman starts giving her grief, stirring up feelings she’s tried to forget—and slowly melts away her defenses…

With irresistible humor, warmth, affection—and recipes!—author Sheila Roberts serves up a generous, open-hearted story about the friendships we make, the chances we take, and the lives we touch every day.

My Review:

Storyline:  I really enjoyed the three storylines in this book.  The storyline between Jaime & Josh was sweet, Emma's was sad and Sarah's was bittersweet!

Characters: I loved all the characters in here except for Leo Steele who is quite lecherous!  Everyone was well written and you got to know them like in real life.  I felt really sorry for Emma because her Quilt Shop wasn't doing very well and she was quite the pushover.  I'm glad she isn't as much now!

Romance: I really enjoyed the romance between Jaime & Josh even though she pushed him away because she was abused by her ex-husband also a cop.  I don't blame her even though she was attracted to Josh.

Nibble & Kuhn (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Nibble & Kuhn" by David Schmahmann.

 Product Description

An unraveling law firm. An unwinnable case. An unworkable love.

Derek Dover has it all.

Derek's up for partner at Nibble & Kuhn just as that most proper of Boston law firms comically tries to `rebrand' itself for the Google era. Pompous and arbitrary, the ruling junta of partners saddles him with a high visibility lawsuit just weeks before trial. The diligent young attorney arranges things so that Maria Parma, a new associate in the firm for whom he's fallen hard, also gets named to the case. Maria, in turn, can't keep her hands off Derek, but it's complicated because she's engaged to someone else.

As Derek prepares his case on behalf of seven young victims of an industrial polluter, his anxieties about his career and his torments over Maria's mixed messages only increase. Have his eccentric WASP superiors handed him a `toxic' case to ruin his chances of becoming a partner? How can he get his opponents to settle - an outcome the presiding judge all but demands - unless his unorthodox `expert witnesses' perform with enough gravitas to match that of the other side with its Harvard Medical School scientist? Will Nibble & Kuhn survive the partners' spectacularly bad business judgments? Does it even matter to Derek, given that his looming fiasco of a trial and his indiscretions with Maria seem set to sink any chance he ever had at partnership?

Ultimately, Derek sets into motion a line of inquiry that spins events entirely out of the control of the judge, jury, and any and all attorneys.

My Review:

Storyline: There were two storylines in this one book and I enjoyed both.  The first one has to do with a case that Derek has taken over and the second one is his relationship with Maria a new associate.  After reading this book I believe the corporate world can be like this.

Characters: All the characters were well written and believable.

Romance:  I did enjoy the romance between Derek and Maria but too bad she was engaged to someone else.  I'm glad that Derek & Maria finally got together at the end.

Rapture: The Shadowdwellers (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Rapture" the 2nd book in her The Shadowdwellers series by Jacquelyn Frank.

Product Description

Magnus is a man of contradictions - a spiritual leader in a warrior's body. To him, laws are for enforcing and visions must be followed - even if that means freeing a beautiful slave and making her his reluctant handmaiden. Betrayed once before, Magnus can barely bring himself to trust another woman. Yet Daenaira's fiery innocence is drawing them both into a reckless inferno of desire. Daenaira grew up hearing tales of a fearsome priest who seemed more myth than reality. But Magnus is very real - every inch of him - and so is the treachery surrounding them. Beneath Sanctuary's calm surface, an enemy is scheming to unleash havoc on the Shadowdwellers, unless Magnus trusts in a union ordained by fate, and sealed by unending bliss.

My Review:

Storyline: I did enjoy the storyline!

Characters:  I did like Magnus, Daenaira, Tristian, Malaya, Malaya's bodyguard, Trace and his Magnus's friend.

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Magnus and Daenaira because he was patient and didn't force Dae when she pushed him away when she wasn't ready!  Can't wait read more of Malaya and her bodyguard.

Killer(s): A couple of killers were quite sick, perverted and I'm glad they got what they deserved!

I prefer reading Jacquelyn's Nightwalker series!

Pretending to find her by chance, Tinne helps her through her Second Passage. But when the truth is revealed, can she forgive his deception, and learn to trust in her destiny?

About the Author

Robin D. Owens is a RITA award-winning author.

My Review:

Storyline: I really enjoyed this storyline though too bad Tinne couldn't tell Lahsin he was her HeartMate. Didn't enjoy hearing that he ex-husband raped and beat her. Also hated his daughter.

Characters: The characters were well written especially Lahsin, Tinne, etc.

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Tinne & Lahsin because they were closer in age and he helped her through her Flair and problems, etc.

Killer: Well there wasn't really a killer in this book but a villian which I didn't really like and his daughter.

Hard to Hold Release Contest

Larissa Ione is having a Stephanie Tyler Hard to Release Contest on her blog to help her celebrate her new release here: http://larissaione.com/blog/2009/11/16/hard-to-hold-release-contest/

Guest Post Nick Valentino

I am so excited to have Nick Valentino Guest Post to talk about his amazing book "Thomas Riley" here at Razlover's Book Blog.

Please take it away, Nick!

Thomas Riley by Nick Valentino

The world during the industrial revolution has seen an explosion of technology, innovation and science that it has never experienced before. Alchemy and science are the new gods, bringing forth inventions that forever steer the world in a different path. Massive air force dirigible based flying ships armed with cannons fill the skies, while rogue bands of air pirates top the news of the day.

The Earth as we know it is the same, but the countries are different. Thomas Riley and his assistant Cynthia Basset are the chief weapons designers for their country of West Canvia who has been locked in a twenty year war with the neighboring country of Lemuria. Their company, Mercury Craft Industries, makes weapons powered by steam, which happens to be the main power source of the day.

Thomas and Cynthia’s work is interrupted when West Canvian Marines bring the Duke of West Canvia’s mortally wounded daughter in and demand that a special kind of soul preserving alchemy is performed. Thomas protests, but is forced under the threat of treason. The alchemic process goes wrong thrusting the soul of the Duke’s dying daughter into Cynthia and giving her a split personality.

With no where to turn, Thomas suggests that the Duke’s daughter can only be extracted by master alchemist Isaac Maier, who happens to be the chief weapon’s designer for their enemy in Lemuria. They hatch a plan to fly in, and force him to perform the procedure, but everything goes wrong. Their ship is shot down in enemy territory and Thomas and Cynthia take matters in to their own hands making their own perilous way to their enemy’s laboratory.

If you haven’t heard, you will soon enough. Steampunk (Jules Verne + Victorian Adventure) has arrived. My first Steampunk novel, Thomas Riley, was just published by Echelon Press and I want to thank everyone at Razlover’s Book Blog for hosting a day on my blog tour.

Southern Peril: A Jersey Barnes Mystery (Jersey Barnes Mysteries) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Southern Peril the 3rd book in her Jersey Barnes Mystery series by T. Lynn Ocean.

Product Description

Why is it so hard for Jersey Barnes to retire? When a state supreme judge calls in a favor, she tells herself (again) that this is her last case. She must investigate the judge’s brother, Morgan, and his newly-inherited business. When Jersey realizes the DEA is checking on Morgan, too, she finds herself in the middle of a twentyyear- old mystery and a drug ring investigation. Still checking up on her geriatric father and his trouble-making friends, negotiating the steamy friendship/relationship with her bartender Ox, and dodging the flirtacious sparks flying back and forth with the cute DEA agent, Jersey begins to wonder if retirement is ever in her future. On the heels of the lauded Southern Poison, readers will welcome another hilarious, suspenseful, and sun-soaked adventure from the unforgettable Jersey Barnes.

My Review:

Storyline: I really enjoyed reading this fast paced food themed book.  The setting was two restaurants and there was more than one storyline.

Characters: The characters were well written especially Jersey, Morgan and Brad Logan.

Romance: I did enjoy the sparks between Jersey and Brad.  She has kind of a boyfriend/co-ower relationship with Ox Oxendine but he's spending time with his daughter in a different city.

Killer: Didn't know much about the killer other than his name and why he was after his victim.

This is the first book I read from this author but I definately will check out the other books in this series!

Sins of the Flesh (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Sins of the Flesh" the 1st book in her Sins series by Caridad Pineiro.

Product Description

Caterina Shaw's days are numbered. Her only chance for survival is a highly experimental gene treatment-a risk she willingly takes. But now Caterina barely recognizes herself. She has new, terrifying powers, an exotic, arresting body-and she's been accused of a savage murder, sending her on the run.

Mick Carrera is a mercenary and an expert at capturing elusive, clever prey. Yet the woman he's hunting down is far from the vicious killer he's been told to expect: Caterina is wounded, vulnerable, and a startling mystery of medical science. Even more, she's a beautiful woman whose innocent sensuality tempts Mick to show her exactly how thrilling pleasure can be. The heat that builds between them is irresistible, but surrendering to it could kill them both . . . for a dangerous group is plotting its next move using Caterina as its deadly pawn.

My Review:

Storyline: I really enjoyed the storyline because it was quite different.

Characters: The characters were well written especially Caterina, Mick and Liliana.  The villians were well written too and they were quite vile and horrible.  Definately don't want to meet them in real life.

Romance: Wow I loved the romance between Catrina and Mick (it was tender and caring) and they didn't rush into bed.  They got to know each other before they did.  You can feel the heat between them.

Killer(s): Wow the killers are quite vile, horrible and deadly especially Mad Dog and this other character I can't remember his name.

Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Dead and Gone" the 9th book in her Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.

Product Description

Now an HBO original series, True Blood - the New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series continues.

Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps-and nothing about weres.

Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works-and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it.

But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings-older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves-is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.

About the Author

Charlaine Harris writes both fantasies and mysteries.

My Review:

Storyline:  I enjoyed the storyline because I'm glad one of the victims is dead that person deserved it.

Characters: My favorite characters are Sookie, Bill, Bubba and Sam.

Romance:  Not much of a fan of Sookie & Eric.  Hmm not sure if he really loves her or not.  I really enjoyed the romance between Sookie & Bill.  I belive he's the better vamp and man for her.

Killer(s): One of the killers I never suspected and you learn a secret about them which came out of left field.  The other killers were one dimensional and you didn't really know them.

Storm Cycle (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Storm Cycle by Iris Johansen & Roy Johansen.

Product Description

Rachel Kirby is a computer genius whose personal life is hell. While she continues to climb the corporate ranks, her beloved twin sister is plagued by a chronic illness that will eventually kill her, leaving Rachel all alone.

Serendipity in the form of a mysterious email lands in Rachel’s lap one day, but not without a price. Thousands of miles away, archeologist John Tanek sits trapped inside a collapsed Egyptian tomb with a functioning laptop. He knows that Rachel is the only person who can help him, but time is quickly running out. It turns out the collapse was no accident. John has discovered something very valuable in that tomb, something that humankind has been searching for throughout history, something that Rachel could use as it may hold the key to her sister’s cure. While Rachel orchestrates his rescue, she soon finds herself trapped in a dangerous web of deceit and murder. Can she put her trust in John Tanek? She’d do anything to save her sister. Will they both live long enough to unravel the ancient mystery they’ve found inside the tomb?

With Johansen and Johansen’s fast-paced action, charismatic characters, and impeccable research, Storm Cycle will carry you away.

My Review:

Storyline: I really enjoyed the storyline because of the super computer and it had an Egyptian setting.  It has the involvement of government agencies, a pharmaceutical firm that would like to hide a possible cure, corporate hit men, Egyptian pharaohs, a dying sister, and one supercomputer that may just save the world. The story spans the globe, taking the reader from Houston to Egypt, Paris, Vegas and Russia with an entire cast of entertaining characters in each place.

Characters: The characters were well written especially Rachel, John, Allie & Hal.

Romance: I enjoyed reading the romance between Rachel & John because you can feel the sexual tension between them.  Surprised the love scenes weren't as descriptive as previous books.

Killer(s): Some of the killers just wanted money and they were afraid of the real boss.  I'm glad they got what was coming to them.

Very fast paced read and I would recommend reading and I enjoyed this one alot more than Silent Thunder!

Bill Walker Guest Post

I am so excited to have Bill Walker here to talk about how how he became a published author at Razlover's Book Blog.

Bill Walker is a graphic designer specializing in book and dust jacket design, and has worked on projects by Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Dean Koontz and Stephen King. Between his design work and his writing, he spends his spare time reading voraciously and playing very loud guitar, much to the chagrin of his lovely wife and two sons. Bill makes his home in Los Angeles and can be reached through his web site, http://www.billwalkerdesigns.com/

Book:
A Note from an Old Acquaintance

Brian Weller is a haunted man. It's been two years since the tragic accident that left his three-year-old son dead and his wife in an irreversible coma. A popular author of mega-selling thrillers, Brian's life has reached a crossroads: his new book is stalled, his wife's prognosis is dire, and he teeters on the brink of despair.

Everything changes the morning an e-mail arrives from Boston artist Joanna Richman. Her heartfelt note brings back all the poignant memories: the night their eyes met, the fiery passion of their short-lived affair, and the agonizing moment he was forced to leave Joanna forever. Now, fifteen years later, the guilt and anger threaten to overwhelm him. Vowing to make things right, Brian arranges a book-signing tour that will take him back to Boston. He is eager to see Joanna again, but remains unsure where their reunion will lead. One thing is certain: the forces that tore their love asunder will stop at nothing to keep them apart.

Filled with tender romance and taut suspense, A Note from an Old Acquaintance is an unforgettable story about fate, honor, and the power of true love.

Please take it away, Bill!

In my journey towards becoming a published author, I worked with a few freelance editors, who were instrumental in teaching me some very valuable lessons. One of them, a retired gentleman with a very impressive résumé that included stints as an advertising and publishing executive, taught me one in particular that I thought I'd impart. During one of our sessions, he asked me a pointed question one day:

"Bill, do you like to write?"

My answer was immediate: "I love it. When I’m in the midst of a story or a novel, I can't wait to get going every morning."

He chuckled and said, "Then I would never have hired you to work as a copywriter in my agency. I always found the ones who hated to write did the best work by far."

Needless to say, I was mortified and his words festered in my mind for a long time. Was I destined to be a mediocre talent just because I happened to love telling stories? Here I was working doggedly to learn the craft and now I'm being told that in order to be truly good at it, I should hate it.

Well, here's what I have to say about that: "Bollocks!"

Sure, perhaps there were great authors who couldn't stand to face that blank page every day, but I'd be willing to bet they weren't all that prolific and no matter how great they are or were at their craft, some of that contempt has to come through onto the written page. But I've also read about many other writers who proudly profess to love it. Stephen King and Dean Koontz are two that come to mind. And their work is memorable, entertaining, and thought provoking—all the benchmarks of truly great writing.

In thinking of that editor's words, I came to realize that for myself, I've always found a way to stop doing what I don't like. For me, I have to truly love something in order to put in the time to become truly good at it. I don’t care if it's writing, guitar playing...or gardening.

My advice to budding authors out there is to ignore discouraging moments like this and let nothing stand in your way. Follow your dreams and your inspirations. Learn as much as you can by reading AND writing, for if you don't exercise those writing muscles, they will atrophy. Writing A Note from and Old Acquaintance was truly a labor of love and the culmination of all the years of hard work and rejection. To this day, I'm very glad I ignored what that elderly gentleman said. For me writing is more than just a job, it's a calling.

Bill will be visiting and answering any questions you might have so please participate, thanks!

Thanks for guest posting on my Blog, Bill I greatly appreciate it!

Time For Eternity (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Time for Eternity" the 7th book in her Companion series by Susan Squires.

Product Description

Once, Frankie Suchet loved Henri Foucault—and it cost her everything. For two centuries, she has cursed the French duke who gave her his blood and then disappeared forever. Today, this sexy vampire is a bartender living in San Francisco. Now Frankie has been granted a chance to go back in time…and kill the man who made her what she is. But becoming “Francoise” again means losing all memory of the risk Henri poses to her future…and her heart.

France, 1794. The Reign of Terror is in full swing. From the first, Henri is an enigma, saving Francoise from an angry Parisian mob. Drawn to his seductive vitality, Francoise discovers there is much more to him than she once knew. Henri’s devotion to rescuing innocents from the guillotine is his sole passion—until he encounters Francoise’s intoxicating blend of innocence and warmth. And as their attraction explodes to dangerous desire, the only way to save each other may be to sacrifice their timeless love…

My Review:

Storyline: I enjoyed reading this book because I'm fan of this series and I like Frankie/Francoise & Henri.

Characters: The characters were well written especially Frankie/Francoise & Henri.  Henri isn't really the bad-ass you believe he is and Francoise isn't the innocent girl you believe she is!

Romance: I enjoyed reading the romance between Francoise & Henri because you see how much they truly love each other and a different perspective when Frankie's personality is combined with Francoise's.

Killer: The killer was quite vile and a sick freak!  Just felt like killing because of revenge and what happened to them!

Virtual Tour - Tracey Cramer-Kelly Q & A

I am so excited to have Tracey Cramer-Kelly here to talk about her latest Last Chance Rescue in a Q & A here at Razlover's Book Blog.

Tracey Cramer-Kelly is currrently touring to promote her newest release Last Chance Rescue.

Book Description:

When Brad Sievers runs into his old friend Jessie Van Dyke at his high school reunion, little does he know how much it will change his life. When his high-powered advertising career fizzles, he falls into a most unlikely career opportunity -- becoming a member of Jessie's search-and-rescue team. Nothing in his life has prepared Brad for this, but he finds it more fulfilling than a dozen advertising campaigns.

Through dangerous rescues and personal trials, Brad and Jessie become close friends. They share in the birth of her first colt from her rescued horse; Jessie helps Brad when one of his first rescues doesn't make it. When one of their rescue victims turns out to be a fellow soldier from Jessie's Iraq War days, Brad almost loses her to old demons. But when Brad is severely injured in a training accident, Jessie nurses him back to health as only she can. And when she goes missing one night, Brad realizes just how important she has become to him.

Both Brad and Jessie must fight their own defenses to finally let down the walls that will allow them to rescue each other. This is a story about breath-taking action and adventurous lives, and the heart that is behind it

BOOK EXCERPT

Despite three blankets and a roaring fire only two feet away from him, Brad couldn’t stop shivering. Even the hot shower he’d had only thirty minutes before was a distant memory. A warm mug appeared in his hands.

“What is it?”

“Hot toddy with herbs.” Jessie sat in the easy chair across from him. “It’ll help warm you.”

The bourbon burned the back of his throat but the herbs left a pleasant aftertaste.

“You might start feeling warmer in a week or so,” Ryan teased, sipping on his own. The younger man sat next to Brad, nearly as wrapped as he was. Micah had been soaked as well, but he didn’t seem as affected by it. He and Tony—who had performed CPR with Jessie during the medevac flight—sat on the sofa, engaged in a conversation about fishing, of all things.

They fell silent when the phone rang. Every eye watched Jessie as she spoke a few short words into the phone and hung up. She shook her head. “I’m sorry,” she addressed Brad specifically. “He didn’t make it.”

Brad sat staring into the fire long after Tony, Micah, and Jessie had left. He wasn’t prepared for the impact of her words. Although he knew it to be true, he didn’t want to believe it. When? he demanded silently. When had the man died? Had he been dead when Brad had held him in his arms? Had everything he’d done been meaningless after all?

Thanks so much Goddessfish.com for connecting us on this blog tour!

1. Why did you become a writer?

I kept having dreams that I felt compelled to write about in the morning. Eventually I had a half-dozen novels (or, more specifically, parts and pieces of). There were stories inside me that just had to be told.

2. What is your book(s) about?

Last Chance Rescue, a 2009 Indie Awards finalist, is about two people who must fight their own defenses to finally let down the walls that will allow them to rescue each other. It is a story about breath-taking search-and-rescue action and adventurous lives—and the heart that is behind it all.

3. Who are your favorite authors or genres?

I like books with complex, more adult characters (Nicolas Sparks comes to mind); I am particularly fascinated by how a male character may change/be changed by events/situations (a major theme in Last Chance Rescue as well). I like unusual settings, but not to the point of unbelievability (which is why I did ride-alongs with a medevac team before I finished writing Last Chance Rescue). My ‘pet peeve’ is a book with too much ‘headhopping’ (constantly changing points of view).

4. If you weren't an author what would you be?

I would be what I already am: a wife and mother (my children are 2 and 6), a daughter and a sister. A business owner (my husband and I own a motorcycle accessories business, www.LeaderMotorcycle.com). A pilot, a skier, a singer, a taiko drummer … in short, I wouldn’t trade the fullness of my real life for what is admittedly a full ‘fantasy’ life!

5. What's your daily schedule like?

Weekday mornings are about the only predictable time: getting children up, fed, and off to daycare and school. I usually put in 6-7 hours for our motorcycle business (which might entail off-site meetings or errands), and sneak in tasks related to marketing Last Chance Rescue whenever I can. Chores, church commitments/Bible study, childrens’ activities (like soccer or swim lessons) or my monthly writers’ group meeting may occupy my evenings (although I try to have a family dinner). My writing time is usually 9-11 pm (after the kids are in bed) a couple nights a week, and a stolen hour here and there at a café or coffee shop.

6. What's on your next to do list?

I just started taking lessons to obtain my fixed-wing pilot license (I already have my helicopter rating), which is getting in the way of my next writing goal: my next novel!

Thank you Tracey Cramer-Kelly for being here today to talk about "Last Chance Rescue, I greatly appreciate it!

Tracey will be giving away an autographed copy of her book "Last Chance Rescue" to one randomly drawn commenter from the tour and an autographed copy of her book to the tour host with the most comments, excluding duplicates or Tracey’s responses.

The Cost of Dreams (Paperback)

Product Description

A Novel: Flora Enriquez trusts that she has found safe haven for her young family in the remote U.S. Southwest, after fleeing the murderous environs of Central America where her parents were slain in a civil war. Only to find that all of her life's greatest challenges, by far, still lie before her.

About the Author

The author is a retired physician residing in the northern Midwestern U.S. with his family. THE COST OF DREAMS is the first of five novels to which Decent Hearts Press is committed.

Servant: The Kindred (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Servant:  The Kindred" the last book in her Servant trilogy by L.L. Foster.

Product Description

Gabrielle Cody is a paladin-God's enforcer on earth. But she's not sure she can endure the life of a holy warrior. Her relationship with Detective Luther Cross is under constant strain already, and its going to get worse.

There is a monster feeding off of human blood, flesh, and souls and Gaby must stop him. But her passion for Luther distracts her from the terrible connection she has with her quarry-and the creature's desire to devour her.

My Review:

Storyline: I enjoyed reading this book because I'm fan of this series and I like Gaby & Luther.  You learn a secret about Gaby near the end of the book!

Characters: The characters were okay and I do Gaby, Luther, Bliss & Mort.

Romance: I enjoyed reading the romance between Gaby & Luther because it shows how far they have come in their relationship from the first book and Luther accepts her.

For Cecile:  Hot door, car and police station sex!

Killer: The killer was quite vile and a sick freak!

The pic of Luther reminds me of someone but I can't think who at the moment!
