I am so excited to have Debra Webb here at Paranormal and Romantic Suspense Reviews with an Excerpt and Giveaway.

Thanks Debra and Marissa from Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to join your Rage blog tour!

About the Author:
Debra Webb was born in Scottsboro, Alabama, to parents who taught her that anything is possible if you want it badly enough. She loved telling stories and began writing at age nine. Growing up on a farm in rural Alabama provided the wide open spaces and fertile ground for her vivid imagination.

When she met and married the man of her dreams Debra put her writing aside and tried some other occupations, including door-to-door sales, various factories and restaurants, a day care center, a hospital and a department store. Shortly after the birth of her first daughter Debra’s husband joined the military and she decided to go to college. Eventually the U.S. Army took them to Berlin, Germany, and Debra accepted a position as secretary in the commanding general’s office. By 1985, they were back in the States, and her next major career move landed her at NASA in the Space Shuttle Program.

For more than a dozen years after returning to the States Debra and her family lived in a small Tennessee town where everyone knew everyone else. A few years after settling in Tennessee her second daughter was born. Though she hadn’t written in nearly two decades, in 1996 Debra took up writing again. With the support of her family and God’s blessing her dream of being published came true in March of 1999.

Debra’s life has come full circle now. She and her family, along with their three dogs, have moved back home to Alabama. As a multi-published, best selling author Debra writes spine-tingling romantic suspense for Grand Central Publishing and Harlequin Intrigue.

The Faces of Evil Series: Book 4

When Jess Harris moved back to her Alabama hometown, she thought she'd left her past behind her. But the blood bath the new Major Crimes deputy chief finds at a murder scene is beyond even the savagery of Eric Spears, the serial killer who now haunts Jess's life with terrifying text messages. Amid eerie echoes of the Charles Manson massacre, Jess investigates the dismemberment of a cop's wife while her baby lay sleeping down the hall.

The discovery of two more headless victims makes Jess wonder if it's a gang-related slaying, a personal vendetta or something else. And the sudden reappearance of her ex-husband makes her question her future with Chief of Police Dan Burnett. Now as the net widens to include a shocking suspect, Jess realizes that the identity of the killer may lie with an autistic eight-year-old boy. With inner-city tensions at an all-time high and the community calling for blood, Jess must race to save an innocent child-and prevent a final, horrifying act of rage.

RAGE EXCERPT ONE

The light was back.

It was real bright.

It hurt Devon’s eyes.

He was so hungry. The angel had given him a drink and some bites of sandwich last time the light came. But that was a long time ago.

His belly growled as the light got closer. He knew he should be scared but he was too tired.

He didn’t know how long he’d been in this dark place but it felt like a real long time.

His sister had probably quit looking for him by now. She was prob’ly sad.

He’d heard the kids crying again. Heard the yelling. Once when he woke up he thought he heard the blond lady cop talking but he prob’ly dreamed it.

The angel put the light down on the ground by Devon’s feet. He heard a tearing sound. More tape, he was pretty sure. He blinked. Tried so see but his eyes wouldn’t work good. The light made them hurt. More of that yucky tape was stuck to his face. This time over his eyes.

He didn’t like it but he couldn’t say anything with tape over his mouth too. He was pretty sure it wouldn’t matter anyway.

He felt his body moving. The angel was pulling at his arms. Dragging him. Where were they going? Was the angel taking him home?

Maybe he was going to heaven. Tears made his eyes sting. He didn’t want to go he wanted his sister.

Devon went inside himself.

The Faces of Evil series is excellent. If you like spectacular Romantic Suspense, this series is for you.

One of the reasons that the series works so well is that Ms. Webb has managed to combine an action-packed plot with a character driven plot, not an easy feat.

Jess and Dan are the main characters in all of the books. Given their past history, each book allows them to cautiously come to terms with their feelings for each other in a second chance at love while at the same time that they are dealing with murder and mayhem, including a serial killer.

Jess is a kick-ass, independent heroine whose continual determination to do things her own way, even if they are outside Police protocol, drives Dan crazy. He is very protective of her and always has her back which is not easy since he is the Chief of Police.

Another great aspect of the series is that Ms. Webb allows the reader to see the flaws of Jess and Dan as well as those other recurring characters. You feel invested in the characters with respect to their personal and professional lives.

Each book in the series is a fast read because you become so caught up in it. The first three books are Obsession, Impulse, and Power.

There is a good reason that RT Magazine gave Rage, the fourth book in the series, 4 1/2 stars.

Ms. Webb has posted the first three chapters of Rage on thefacesoevil.com website. If you read them, you will be hooked.

I highly recommend Rage and the other books in the series. I guarantee that if you read Rage first, you will go back and read the earlier books.

As you can see, I like just about everything about the series the only exception is the that I have to wait in between the books being released!

Congratulations on the release of Rage, Debra. I have read the first three and it's one of my favorite romantic suspense out there. I really like the characters and though some of the situations they are placed in is downright scary, I like seeing them grow. I definitely want to see Dan and Jess get closer and hopefully be able to face their pasts. I agree with the review of Rage here about Dan's protectiveness. When Jess was down he believed in her and tried to help her out. Very great hero traits. I read somewhere on your site that there'll be 12 books....it's a long way away but hoping you're open to continuing the series beyond that if needed :)

Good luck with Rage. I hope more people check out this series. Thank you for the chance to win my own print set.
