Follow My Blog Friday #195

If you are new to the FF fun, Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers. Feature & Follow Friday is now hosted by TWO hosts, myself of course and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

Now to make this FF interesting we do a FEATURE blogger. If you are interested in becoming a Feature click on the drop down link above FEATURES and Features and Follow Friday and get on the waiting list!  It is also required, that if you participate you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee and Alison Can Read) and the two Feature blogs.

This Meme is hosted by Rachel from Parajunkee's View and Alison from Alison Can Read on Fridays.

To join the fun and make now book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:

1.  (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee and Alison Can Read}

2.  (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers

3.  Put your Blog name and URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.

4.  Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.

5.  If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed

6.  Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”

7.  If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love and the followers.

8.  If you’re new to the follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Two Features This Week!

Scripturient &…

When did you start blogging? I started blogging a year ago!

I just had my first blogiversary (yay!) and I’ve been loving every minute of my time here.

What is your favorite part of book blogging? Blogging/reviewing helps me in my writing. I write my own novels for fun. By giving my opinion on books, I also pick up some things I can keep in mind when I write.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I blog about YA because I looove YA! My favorite books to blog about are dystopian, and those cheesy and predictable teen romance books.

What is your favorite book(s)?

DO I REALLY HAVE TO CHOOSE? WHYYY.

But okay, fine, if I had to choose I’d say my current favorite book is Anna and the French Kiss. It’s just so cute and I have never read a teenage love story that is as wonderful as that. I’m sorry if my favorite book isn’t some classic, complex novel! I have yet to read those books and not look at them as requirements for class!

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Before I started blogging, I was extremely afraid of letting people know what I thought about something. I posted my first book review after hours of contemplating. I feared that other (better) bloggers would point at me and say, “YOU CALL THAT A REVIEW? PSHHH.” Book blogging has given me the confidence to share my thoughts with the Internet. You guys aren’t mean. You’re the most wonderful people I’ve met. *virtual hug*

Little Librocubicularist

When did you start blogging?

I officially started blogging January last year. But the blogger account has been around since March 2011. It was just a requirement for a school subject we had back then. Then, I discovered book blogging and wanted to try it out. I reconstructed the blog on October 2012 and posted a some random book reviews from Goodreads. I realized how awful and disorganized the blog looks back then, so I remodeled it again. At the start of 2013, Little Librocubicularist has been officially born.

What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Getting and reading books, and people actually liking what I had written. I feel relieved and glad whenever someone comments on one of my reviews, or even give them likes on Goodreads, It’s like an assurance that what I’m doing is okay (if not good), and I can continue doing it.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

The blog is dedicated mostly to Young Adult books, and a few selected New Adult books as well. I read all genres of YA except horror, so expect a a diverse selection of books. But lately, I’ve been having a Contemporary fixation.

What are your favorite books?

Can we skip this question? It’s so hard.

Okay, here are some of my favorite books

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta is one of my favorite books. It has been one of the few books that has left me speechless after reading. Also, Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (I have not read Clockwork Princess yet) and My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park has recently been added to my favorites list. There are a few more but I can’t seem to remember… I feel bad for those who have not been mentioned.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

To be honest, getting books from authors or publishers is by far the most squeal-worthy moment I’ve ever experienced. It is number one on my list. And not far from the top spot is the part where authors actually acknowledge the things you said about their books. If getting books is squeal-worthy, this experience just blows my mind away.

Our Feature - The Pegster - Reads

1. When did you start blogging?

I have posted my first blog post on January 1st 2014. I have had a general blog for a few years, talking about my family, needlework and books. Over the Christmas Holidays 2013 I decided to log books I read in a separate blog and chat about it a bit so I came up with the idea of a book blog. Did some online research - wow, and the whole big world of book blogging opened up to me. I loved it straight away and thought: "yes, that's what I want to do!"

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Being in contact with like-minded people and authors. I would love to be able to write books, so I still feel honored when I receive a book and asked to review it. I would not have picked up many of the new authors otherwise and I'm truly amazed at the quality of their work (most of them anyway!). Also, no - one in my family is an avid / crazy reader like me, so it's only my fellow bloggers who can understand the excitement of a new book and a book shop.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I run a weekly feature on my favourite author Stephen King. My favourite genres are dystopian, crime, thriller and horror but I try to keep my reading very much open to almost anything. I also review quite a few non-fiction books, mainly on language learning, writing manuals, craft related, dieting.

4. What are your favorite books?

It would have to be Stephen King's The Stand and 22.11.63.
Donna Tartt The Secret History
Kazuo Ishiguro Never Let me Go

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

It feels good to receive emails from publisher, asking me if they can send me books to read. It seems pretty obvious - but for me, it is still amazing that people want to hear my opinion. The Internet and my blog give me the chance to chat books to just about anyone, in any place around the world, which is just great.

Question of the Week: What are your non-book guilty pleasures? Like TV shows, food, websites, hobbies, etc.

TV shows: I don't watch that much TV but I do enjoy watching drama and horror series. I also occasionally watch the Food Network and HGTV too.  If a movie is on with my favorite actor and it's a good one I will re-watch again and again.

Food: I have cravings for Cajun/Creole, Jamaican and Mexican food at least once a week. I'm addicted to chocolate or anything with sugar.

Websites:  I like checking out food and pet blogs every night.  I also check out Youtube to re-watch my favorite episodes of General Hospital (92-94) and The Young and the Restless (2002 - 2003).  Everyday I like watching new episodes of animes I'm watching.

Hobbies:  I love to sing and dance to my favorite songs of the 80's and 90's.  I love to bake and try out new spicy recipes (the hotter the better).  I also love to play horror survival games (at night with the lights off with headphones) which can get pretty spooky depending on which series I'm playing.
