When did you start blogging?

December 2006! I had to look at my archives… and I started it mostly as a writing exercise

What is your favorite part of blogging?

Well, I rarely run out of things to say. Having another outlet is a good thing.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

Books. My books. Other books I like. Weird stuff. Movies. Anything that catches my interest. And sometimes I rant.

What is your favorite book(s)?

The Stardoc books by SL Viehl, the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews, the Downside books by Stacia Kane, and the In Death books by JD Robb.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Like I said, I started blogging mainly as an exercise…I got the idea from Lynn Viehl/SL Viehl who I teasingly call my guru, and we’ve struck up a friendship. As she is a writer I admire so much and that probably came about mostly thru blogs (mine and hers), I’d probably have to say that.

1. When did you start blogging?

I've been blogging in general for over 5 years. I used to have a product review blog. I've been book blogging since September 2012 and I'm loving every minute of it!

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Sharing my love of books with others. None of my friends or family are book lovers like I am so I had no one to discuss what I was reading with. Joining the book blogging community allowed me to gush about favorite reads or cringe over the not-so-good ones with a group of people who understand and appreciate my ranting.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

My reading tastes are pretty eclectic. I stay mostly to fiction but after that almost anything goes. I have a new love of New Adult and I'm a sucker for a good Dystopia, but I'll post about anything from Romance to Sci-Fi to Thriller and everything in between. I usually stay away from Erotica and Horror, though.

4. What is your favorite book(s)?

This question is so tough! My all-time favorite is probably The Princess Bride by William Goldman. It's fantasy and it's funny and just genius, in my opinion. More recent favorites include Hopeless by Colleen Hoover, The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, And All the Stars by Andrea K. Höst and Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Interacting with some amazing authors! Have you seen that t-shirt that says, "Authors are my rock stars?" That's how I feel and meeting them and having them actually talk to me or personally reply to emails is amazing.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure as far as reading? Is it a genre, or is it a certain type of book?

I have three genre guilty pleasures and one author and they are:

1.  Erotic Romance - I don't read this genre that much but I do enjoy reading "The Sinners on Tour" series by Olivia Cunning.

2.  Bodice-Rippers - I love reading this genre and I sometimes like to re-read a favorite author (ex: Rosemary Rogers, Karen Robards, etc.)

3.  Yaoi (M x M) - This is M x M action in manga form (some of the covers are explicit so I have to hide them so I won't be embarrassed).

4.  Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series.

Question of the Week: Is there such a thing as too much sex in a book?

No not really but sometimes there is too much sex if it's senseless and it's totally out of character.

My Review:

Storyline:  Lucy Kincaid has survived an awful kidnapping and rape while a teenager and almost died at the hands of a psychotic killer.  She hasn't let these horrifying events prevent her from becoming what she really wants to be an FBI agent.  To help her be the best she can be she has worked at the coroner's office and catching child predators online.  She wants to follow in the footsteps of her family but is secretly scared the FBI wouldn't want her because of her past.

FBI agent Suzanne "Mad Dog" Madeaux and NY police offer Vic Panetta are working together investigating murders in New York.   Young girls are being found murdered by asphyxiation and missing a shoe after a wild night of drinking, drugging and anonymous sex held at abandoned warehouses.  The press has named the killer "The Cinderella Strangler".

Meanwhile Sean Rogan Lucy's boyfriend is investigating the disappearance of his cousin 17 years old Kristen Benton.  She has a tendency to disappear on the weekends but returns on Sunday night.  Her parents have contacted Sean and Patrick when Kristen has returned mid-week and no one has seen her.

During their investigation their case comes in conflict with "The Cinderella Stranger" case.

Manga Review: Jiu Jiu, Vol. 2 [Paperback]

I've finished reading "Jiu Jiu Vol. 2" by Touya Tobina.

My Review:

In this volume Takamichi is on her way to meeting with her dad and very important people of other clans.  As she arrives she is attacked by her former fiance (he's a major jerk and loves to make her life miserable) and her current fiance has to intervene though he doesn't look at her.  We learn why later why he doesn't look at her.

She is late for the meeting and she apologizes but the other heads aren't too happy and wonder how she could be the head of her family?  We are shown some of Takamichi's childhood when she is engaged to her ex and how much he tormented her.

We are introduced to some new characters like the bat boy Meru and a little girl while waiting for her mistress to come back haunted the house who both become attached to Takamichi.

There is a little story about Night and Day when they were younger who were unsure of how Takamichi felt about them.  They talk to Moon Takamichi's father's Jiu Jiu who is older and quite rude and crude.

Manga Review: BTOOOM!, Vol. 1 [Paperback]

I've finished reading "BTOOM Vol. 1" by Junya Inoue.

And why!? The name, not to mention the objective, of this very real survival game is eerily familiar to Ryouta, who has mastered its virtual counterpart - BTOOOM! Can Ryouta still come out on top when he's playing for his life!?

My Review:

Ryouta Sakamoto is a 22 year old who lives at home with his mom and plays an online action game called BTOOM all day and all night.  The game only uses bombs instead of weapons which Ryouta is an strategy expert which makes him one of the top players.

Then we see Ryouta waking up hanging by a parachute on a tree while on a strange island somewhere.  He has no memory of how he ended up here and as soon as he gets down he meets his first opponent.  This guy is out to kill him but Ryouta manages to get the drop on him.

Finally Ryouta meets an old man who explains how a whole group of people ended up on the island and the rules of the game and how to use the bombs he was given.

The artwork was well detailed and the fight scenes were very realistic (especially the gory death scenes).

I hated the way Ryouta treated his mom (he would yell at her and he even threw his controller at her - lucky he didn't hit her since it would have caused a lot of damage even death).

My Review:

This book is set in 1925 during the Prohibition era and the beginning of the jazz era.

Charlotte Delacorte married a wealthy man William who is a rigid, stiffling and controlling husband.  She feels her Fifth Avenue townhouse is a cage until her sister-in-law Mae moves in after the death of her mother.  Mae introduces her to a new world beyond her wildest dreams and Jake Larkin a handsome and mysterious man who is confident in bed as he is behind his bar at a speakeasy.

The vivid description of the characters, music, clothing, food and society made me believe I was actually back in the 1920's. 

All of the characters were well written and I'm glad that Charlotte and Mae spoke their mind and didn't let William control them.  I was very happy that Charlotte hooked up with Jake because he understood her more than she knew herself and he was very supportive.
