Metal Gear Rising Revengeance

Product Description

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory by focusing on delivering an all-new action experience unlike anything that has come before. Combining world-class development teams at Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE brings two of the world's most respected teams together with a common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive MG universe. The game introduces Raiden as the central character; a child soldier transformed into a half-man, half-machine cyborg ninja, equipped with a high-frequency katana blade and a soul fueled by revenge.

In the near future, cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system that had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain increasing power. Furthermore, large 'Private Military Companies', or PMC's, that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organizations. These renegade PMCs employing cyborg technology have become increasingly more disruptive shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC 'Maverick Security', Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past, and carving through anything that stands in his way.

Features

The latest METAL GEAR console experience featuring an all-new style of frenetic action gameplay and central character, Raiden, a cyborg ninja who uses his High Frequency katana blade to cut through any thing that stands in his vengeful path!

New game design, the birth of a new type of MG experience: Combining development powerhouses Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames together, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE will offer a fast & fluid game style centered on katana-based combat within the METAL GEAR universe.

Advanced technology: Produced by a hybrid team of renowned developers, the in-game technology promises to push the boundaries of graphics, style and lightning-speed action gameplay.

'ZanDatsu' cut mechanic: Within the game world, players will be able to take advantage of what has been created- "an all-encompassing cutting plane in real time". Cut anything, anytime, anywhere.

Epic story in the vein of what MG is known and loved for: The game takes place after the events of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 where the world has fallen into chaos with cyborg crimes & terrorism running rampant in society. Delves into the continuing story of Raiden, a child-soldier turned cyborg ninja who's origins are connected to both METAL GEAR SOLID 2 and METAL GEAR SOLID 4.

Rising's stealth elements will emphasize Raiden's considerable speed and agility through what Matsuyama describes as "hunting stealth."

Gameplay will focus on two key elements: swordfighting, and a style of stealth that is more fast-paced and action-oriented.

"Cutting" entails sophisticated swordplay that lets players engage in third person melee combat, as well as precisely slash enemies and objects "at will" along a geometrical plane using a "free slicing" mode.

He wakes up but has reverted to his 15 year old self and wants his brother.  He doesn't remember anyone and the doctor informs everyone that he may be suffering from mental illness due to severe stress.  He goes back to live with Motoharu though he doesn't remember who he is and the names of the two cats who love him.

My Review:

This volume picks up right where we left off in Vol. 1 with Tohru and Mutsumi having some fun in the stairway.  They have finally finished but Domoto goes looking for Tohru and finds Tohru's wallet on the ground and his hands get sticky (he figures out what happens pretty quick and he's not very happy).

Domoto returns Tohru's wallet and Tohru's looks kind of worried but thanks him.  Then Tohru and Mutsumi go over to Mustsumi's place to have some more fun and have a conversation.  After they are finished Mutsumi leaves when he notices Domoto's face in his car window.  Domoto knocks Mutsumi unconscious and kidnaps him to teach him a lesson.  They both get into it and have a serious discussion about pledging loyalty to Tohru.

Meanwhile Tohru calls Mutsumi and is wondering why he isn't answering since he does right away.  He goes looking for him and finds Mutsumi's car keys on the ground.  Then he realizes that Domoto knew what happened and took Mutsumi.  He runs to his father and asks him to search for them but his father says, "that Domoto went against the family" and he would be punished.  He also said that Mutsumi can take care of himself don't underestimate him.

Then Domoto returns

RS Review: Carolina Moon [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Carolina Moon" by Nora Roberts.

Product Description

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts — an utterly spellbinding tale about a woman who, though battered in both body and spirit, can never lose Hope.
Tory Bodeen grew up in South Carolina, in a small run-down house, where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt — and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. But she had Hope, who lived in the big house just a short skip away and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn’t allowed to be at home: a child.

After young Hope’s brutal murder, unsolved to this day, Tory’s life began to fall apart. And now, as she returns to her hometown, with plans to settle in and open a stylish home-design shop, she is determined to find a measure of peace and free herself from the haunting visions of the past. As she forges a new bond with Cade Lavelle — Hope’s older brother and the heir to the family fortune — she isn’t sure whether the tragic loss they share will unite them or drive them apart. But she is willing to open her heart, just a little, and try.

Living so close to those unhappy memories will be more difficult and frightening than Tory could ever have expected, however. Because Hope’s murderer is nearby as well.

My Review:

Tori (Victoria) Bodeen grew up in South Carolina with a religious fanatic father who would beat her to get rid of her psychic powers (she can sense people and their circumstances) and her mother who didn't protect her.   Hope Lavelle was her only friend who helped her escape her troubled home by letting her be a regular kid by having fun, etc.  Hope was eight when she was brutally murdered and raped and Tori experienced the event which has affected how she interacts with people.  The case has never been solved and she has decided to come home to confront her troubled childhood and to learn the truth of Hope's murder and who did it.

Hope's older brother Cade tries to get close to Tori but she rejects him.  She doesn't like getting close to people because they don't appreciate her gift and they get offended by it.  Cade doesn't give up and eventually melts Tori's heart with his charming self and his looks.

All of the characters were well developed with their own interesting story lines.

Contemp Review: Home for the Summer (The Chesapeake Diaries: Wheeler Publishing Large Print Hardcover) [Large Print] [Paperback]

I've finished "Home for the Summer" the 5th book in her Chesapeake Diaries series by Mariah Stewart.

Product Description

Some of Lucy Sinclair's best days were those spent growing up in small town St Dennis - working at the family inn and enjoying summers filled with swimming, sailing, tennis and the company of Clay Madison, her best friend. And the town she once loved became the place she gladly left behind - along with the terrible secret she's kept for twenty years. While Lucy headed off for college and a career, Clay remained - more than satisfied with the life St Dennis had to offer. But now, even after inheriting his family's thriving farm and starting up an organic brewery, he can't help feeling that something's missing. And when Lucy comes back to town to plan a celebrity wedding at the Sinclair family inn, she and Clay reconnect, and find themselves re-evaluating their long-sleeping friendship that could blossom into something deeper. My Review:

Lucy Sinclair and Clay Madison lived in St. Dennis and were best friends.  Something horrible happened to Lucy 20 years ago and she has kept it a secret never telling anyone.  She left St. Dennis for college and now lives California.  She has purposely tried to stay away except for family holidays or planning events, etc.

Clay Madison has lived in St. Dennis all his life and worked on his family farm.  When he inherited the farm he decides to open an organic brewery.  He has never married but has always had a thing for Lucy.

Lucy returns for the summer to help plan a elaborate wedding event at her family's inn.  Clay is determined to convince Lucy that he's the one for her and to figure why she stopped their friendship.

I really liked Clay because he seemed like a nice guy and knew what he wanted and went after it.  He was very patient with Lucy and when she finally revealed her big secret to him he was there for her.

Lucy on the other hand I didn't like that much because she kept that big secret because she didn't want her parents to worry but look how it affected her to this day.  She didn't really deal with the problem and now she's kind of a wreck because of it (she has nightmares every night and she's skittish around Clay, etc.

Even the show’s psychic star didn’t predict the demise of Roger Bixby, the estate’s owner and estranged husband of Simon’s new girlfriend. Now Simon, who’s been collared by police, needs Willow’s help to remedy the situation. As Willow snoops about the mansion, offering natural cures to ease the mounting tension, a strange energy — and the discovery of an eerily similar unsolved murder decades earlier — makes her wonder whether the alternative source of the crime might actually be . . . supernatural. Murder and Mayhem in Goose Pimple Junction [Paperback]

Product Description
Murder and Mayhem In Goose Pimple Junction is a humorous southern mystery set in a unique town full of quirky residents. Grab a glass of sweet tea and settle in. You'll be laughing and guessing until the very end of this thoroughly entertaining novel.

When Tess Tremaine starts a new life in the colorful town of Goose Pimple Junction, she thinks she's moved to a quiet little burg. Curiosity leads her to look into a seventy-five-year-old murder, and suddenly she's learning the foreign language of southern speak, resisting her attraction to local celebrity Jackson Wright, and dealing with more mayhem than she can handle.

If brains were dynamite, Willy couldn't blow his nose. Could a murderer be that stupid? Jack can charm the dew right off the honeysuckle. Surely a fine southern gentleman isn't a murderer. But Tess is determined to find out, and Goose Pimple Junction will never be the same.

A bank robbery, murder, and family tragedy from the 1930s are pieces of the mystery, which Tess attempts to solve in this cozy mystery. As she gets close to the truth, she encounters danger, mystery, a lot of southern charm, and a new temptation for which she's not sure she's ready.

Contemp Review: The Perfect Hope: Book Three of the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy (The Inn Trilogy) [Paperback]

I've finished reading "The Perfect Hope" the 3rd book in her Inn BoonsBoro trilogy by Nora Roberts.

A new novel of starting over and star-crossed love.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts introduces you to the Montgomery brothers — Beckett, Ryder, and Owen — as they bring an intimate bed-and-breakfast to life in their hometown.

Ryder is the hardest Montgomery brother to figure out — with a tough-as-nails outside and possibly nothing too soft underneath. He’s surly and unsociable, but when he straps on a tool belt, no woman can resist his sexy swagger. Except apparently Hope Beaumont, the innkeeper of his own Inn BoonsBoro.

As the former manager of a D.C. hotel, Hope is used to excitement and glamour, but that doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate the joys of small-town living. She’s where she wants to be — except for in her love life. Her only interaction with the opposite sex has been sparring with the infuriating Ryder, who always seems to get under her skin. Still, no one can deny the electricity that crackles between them a spark that ignited with a New Year’s Eve kiss.

While the Inn is running smoothly, thanks to Hope’s experience and unerring instincts, her big-city past is about to make an unwelcome — and embarrassing — appearance. Seeing Hope vulnerable stirs up Ryder’s emotions and makes him realize that while Hope may not be perfect, she just might be perfect for him.

About the Author

Nora Roberts is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than 200 novels. She is also the author of the bestselling futuristic suspense series written under the pen name J. D. Robb. There are more than 400 million copies of her books in print.

My Review:

Ryder Montgomery is a hardworking and serious construction worker who is annoyed by the prim and proper innkeepr Hope Beaumont.  He thinks she is gorgeous with her killer stilettos which makes her legs seem like miles long.

Hope Beaumont is the innkeeper of BoonsBoro Inn and she is recovering from a humiliating relationship which makes her flee from DC to the quaint small town and the inn.  She thinks Ryder is handsome and she isn't above watching him without his shirt on at the construction site across the street.

We also conclude the story of Lizzy an ancestor of Hope and her beau Billy (who we find out is a relative of Ryders).
