5 Bodies to Die For (Body Movers, Book 5) (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "5 Bodies to Die For" the 5th book in her Body Movers series by Stephanie Bond.

Product Description

The Charmed Killer is on the loose in Atlanta and Carlotta Wren is caught up in the terror—especially when her body-moving side business brings her dangerously close to the action.

And then…

She's forced to take refuge in her former fiancé's house—much to the chagrin of other interested parties…

Her brother Wesley begins to behave as if he has his own death wish…

And someone close to her is implicated in the mass murders.

Meanwhile, Carlotta can't shake the feeling that danger is dogging her seemingly cursed family—and that the serial killer's exploits are starting to get personal….

My review:

I really enjoy reading this series because it's a light, fast-paced and fun read. This series also reminds me of the Stephanie Plum series except Carlotta isn't a bounty hunter and she has three men after her instead of two.

Living the Vida Lola: A Lola Cruz Mystery (Lola Cruz Mysteries) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Living the Vida Lola" the 1st book in her Lola Cruz series by Misa Ramirez.

Product Description

Meet Lola Cruz. After paying her dues as an intern, she’s now a full-fledged detective at Camacho and Associates. Her boss is Manny Camacho, a muy caliente former cop with a mysterious ex-wife, a Lara Croft look-alike girlfriend, and a sudden personal interest in Lola. Her first big case? A missing mother who may not want to be found. And to make her already busy life even more complicated, Lola’s helping her cousin plan her quinceañera, and battling her family and their old-fashioned views on women and careers. She’s also reunited with the gorgeous Jack Callaghan, her high school crush whom she shamelessly tailed years ago and photographed doing the horizontal salsa with some other lucky girl.

Lola takes it all in stride, but when the subject of her search ends up dead, she realizes she has a lot more to worry about. Soon she finds herself wrapped up in the possibly shady practices of a tattoo parlor, local politics, and someone with serious---maybe deadly---road rage. To top it all off, her treasured postcoital pictures of Jack are missing! Still, Lola is well-equipped to handle these challenges. She's a black-belt in kung fu, and her body isn’t her only weapon. She’s got smarts, sass, and more tenacity than her Mexican mafioso-wannabe grandfather. A few of her famous margaritas don’t hurt, either.

Debut author Misa Ramirez, a blond-haired, green-eyed gal with a passion for the Latino culture and authentic Mexican food, has penned a delicious mix of mystery, romance, and all-out fun. Filled with sizzling scenes and side-splitting humor, Living the Vida Lola is a thrilling ride that will have you up all night.

About the Author

Misa Ramirez is proud to be a Latina-by-marriage. A native California girl and a former middle and high school teacher, she now writes full-time in her home near Dallas, Texas, where she lives with her husband and five children.

My review:

This was a light fast-paced and fun read. I really enjoyed it and it really does remind me of the Stephanie Plum series.

Skin Trade (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 17) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Skin Trade" the 17th book in her Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton.

From Publishers Weekly

Hamilton's 17th Anita Blake novel draws the vampire hunter into a game of cat-and-mouse with a particularly monstrous vampire named Vittorio. Aided by sadistic serial killer Otto Jefferies, convenient sociopath Edward Kemper and fanged escorts handpicked by her lover Jean-Claude, U.S. marshal Anita offers her services to Las Vegas, now under siege from Vittorio's army of enthralled preternatural beings. Manipulated by the cunning Vittorio and occasionally misled by coincidental events, Anita employs her insight into Vittorio's condition and weaponized libido as the decisive weapons in this struggle.

Product Description

A proven series with a hot new look. The #1 bestselling author returns with her most anticipated novel yet.

When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City’s local authorities what they’re dealing with. Only it’s worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain—paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where’s she’s joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It’s a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses “tiger” too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.

My review:

This is one of the better Anita books because it deals more with storyline then the sex. Also you don't see Micah (I really hate that guy) and I just want to kill him. LOL!

I know that some people were icked when they find out that Anita had sex with a 16 yr. old shapeshifter. I had no problem with it because she didn't know that she did until the next morning.

Chains (Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Chains" by Shiloh Walker.

Product Description

The national bestselling author of “blazingly hot” (Sensual Romance Reviews) novels raises the temperature even more with three all-new stories of sizzling suspense

Renee was the homecoming queen with the perfect boyfriend and the perfect life. Lacey was the golden girl with the bright future. And Sherra always looked like the princess in a fairy tale. The three girls each seemed charmed—until one tragic night shattered their hopes for normalcy.

Now, fifteen years later, the women are returning to their hometown of Madison, Ohio, where three men await them—each dangerous in his own way. And when each of the women succumb to desire, they may also find the safety they’ve been searching for.

Fifteen years ago three young women were changed forever. In the blink of an eye, Renee, Lacey, and Sherra became unwilling allies amidst tragedy. Now they are back in their hometown at the same time, and someone doesn't like it. CHAINS is a romantic suspense novel that readers won't soon forget.

CHAINS OF REBELLION, Book 1: Renee

Renee is a silent princess. Constantly on her guard to be the perfect girl, she has gone to a party with a boy she can't stand but who her mother wants her to date. When she enters a room and he is attempting to rape another girl, Renee is unable to understand why no one will help the victim. Angry and appalled, Renee does what she can to keep the girl from rape. As a result, she becomes a pariah and her mother is disappointed - all because she did what was right. Now she is back in her hometown and someone does not like it one bit.

CHAINS OF LONGING, Book 2: Lacey

Lacey was the girl everyone loved. She was steady and beautiful and people just knew she would go places. When she attends a party with her friend, Lacey's world comes to a crashing halt with one violent act. Now, fifteen years later, Lacey is single and still trying to come to grips with what happened so long ago. Running into Seth Salinger doesn't help either. Lacey needs to stay away from him because he makes her feel things she shouldn't. When an ominous presence begins to stalk her, Lacey turns to Seth - he will keep her safe.

CHAINS OF MEMORY, Book 3: Sherra

Fifteen years ago Sherra was the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She liked to party and while at a bash given by the mayor's son, she was accosted because of her reputation. With rape on his mind, the boy who was going to rape her wouldn't take no for an answer. Rescue came in the forms of Renee, the guy's girlfriend, and Lacey, a high school favorite, but when a gun becomes involved; things go from bad to worse. Sherra suffers from nightmares and other horrible flashbacks, and her life revolves around writing horror novels. When she receives the high school reunion invitation in the mail, Sherra knows she shouldn't but she has to go back to where it all started and ended for her. Her psychotic stalker will just have to wait.

My Review:

I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend checking it out.

Wow the sex was hot and steamy and there is variety of positions (anal, dom/sub situations, spanking & gagging, girl on top of guy, etc.)

Naamah's Kiss (Hardcover)- Thanks SciFi-Guy & Hachette Books

Product Description

Once there were great magicians born to the Maghuin Dhonn; the folk of the Brown Bear, the oldest tribe in Alba. But generations ago, the greatest of them all broke a sacred oath sworn in the name of all his people. Now, only small gifts remain to them. Through her lineage, Moirin possesses such gifts - the ability to summon the twilight and conceal herself, and the skill to coax plants to grow.

Moirin has a secret, too. From childhood onward, she senses the presence of unfamiliar gods in her life; the bright lady, and the man with a seedling cupped in his palm. Raised in the wilderness by her reclusive mother, it isn't until she comes of age that Moirin learns how illustrious, if mixed, her heritage is. The great granddaughter of Alais the Wise, child of the Maghuin Donn, and a cousin of the Cruarch of Alba, Moirin learns her father was a D'Angeline priest dedicated to serving Naamah, goddess of desire.

After Moirin undergoes the rites of adulthood, she finds divine acceptance...on the condition that she fulfill an unknown destiny that lies somewhere beyond the ocean. Or perhaps oceans. Beyond Terre d'Ange where she finds her father, in the far reaches of distant Ch'in, Moirin's skills are a true gift when facing the vengeful plans of an ambitious mage, a noble warrior princess desperate to save her father's throne, and the spirit of a celestial dragon.

Pursuit (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Pursuit" by Karen Robards.

Product Description

New York Times–bestselling author Karen Robards weaves a complex tale of a political conspiracy at the highest level of government, with a steamy love affair between protector and prey.

When rookie lawyer Jessica Ford gets the call from her boss, John Davenport, the senior partner at the illustrious law firm for which she works, she can tell he is well on his way to being drunk. He needs Jess to meet First Lady Annette Cooper, for whom Davenport is a personal lawyer, at a Washington, D.C., hotel. Jess is thrilled: this high- profile assignment must mean that she’s earned her boss’s trust and she’s on her way to bigger things. But unfortunately, bigger isn’t always better.

Jess doesn’t remember much—only that in the course of the late-night meeting with Annette Cooper, she ended up in the backseat of a car, speeding off into the darkness. All Jess knows is that the car crashed en route, and the other three passengers were killed, including the First Lady. Badly injured, Jess is the only survivor of what is trumpeted around the world as a tragic accident.

Although she has no memory about the events leading up to the accident, Jess is still bothered by one question: Was it really an accident? The Secret Service agent on the case, Mark Ryan, gets the feeling that Jess is hiding something. As his suspicions grow, Jess’s world starts falling apart. First, she is brutally attacked in the hospital, barely escaping with her life. Then her boss dies under questionable circumstances. In fact, everyone who might possibly know the details about the First Lady’s last few hours starts turning up dead. And then Jess understands: If she remembers that night, she’ll be dead too.

Terrified and certain that the First Lady’s death was no accident, Jess has only Mark Ryan to turn to. . . .

I enjoyed reading this book and it was fast pace.

Sweetheart (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Sweetheart" the 2nd book in her Archie Sheridan series by Chelsea Cain.

Product Description

With Heartsick, Chelsea Cain took the crime world by storm, introducing two of the most compelling characters in decades: serial killer Gretchen Lowell and her obsessed pursuer Portland Detective Archie Sheridan. The book spent four weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and garnered rave reviews around the world. But the riveting story of Archie and Gretchen was left unfinished, and now Chelsea Cain picks up the tale again.

When the body of a young woman is discovered in Portland’s Forest Park, Archie is reminded of the last time they found a body there, more than a decade ago: it turned out to be the Beauty Killer’s first victim, and Archie’s first case. This body can't be one of Gretchen's—she’s in prison—but after help from reporter Susan Ward uncovers the dead woman's identity, it turns into another big case. Trouble is, Archie can't focus on the new investigation because the Beauty Killer case has exploded: Gretchen Lowell has escaped from prison.

Archie hadn't seen her in two months; he'd moved back in with his family and sworn off visiting her. Though it should feel like progress, he actually feels worse. The news of her escape spreads like wildfire, but secretly, he's relieved. He knows he's the only one who can catch her, and in fact, he has a plan to get out from under her thumb once and for all.

Chelsea Cain has topped her own bestselling debut thriller with this unputdownable, unpredictable, edge-of-your-seat read.

But no matter how hard Archie tries, he just can’t stop thinking about Gretchen…

When the body of a young woman is discovered in Forest Park, Archie is reminded of the first corpse he discovered there a decade ago: it turned out to be the Beauty Killer’s first victim, and Archie’s first case. Then, the unthinkable happens: Gretchen escapes from prison, and once the news breaks, all of Portland goes on high alert…but secretly, Archie is relieved. He knows he’s the only one who can capture Gretchen—and now he has a plan to get out from under her thumb once and for all. Even if it means becoming her last victim…

My review:

I highly recommend reading this series (Archie & Gretchen are both messed up).

Once Dead, Twice Shy (Madison Avery, Book 1) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Once Dead, Twice Shy" the 1st book in her Madison Avery series by Kim Harrison.

Product Description

My name is Madison Avery, and I'm here to tell you that there's more out there than you can see, hear, or touch. Because I'm there. Seeing it. Touching it. Living it.

Madison's prom was killer — literally. For some reason she's been targeted by a dark reaper—yeah, that kind of reaper—intent on getting rid of her, body and soul. But before the reaper could finish the job, Madison was able to snag his strange, glowing amulet and get away.

Now she's stuck on Earth—dead but not gone. Somehow the amulet gives her the illusion of a body, allowing her to toe the line between life and death. She still doesn't know why the dark reaper is after her, but she's not about to just sit around and let fate take its course.

With a little ingenuity, some light-bending, and the help of a light reaper (one of the good guys! Maybe . . . ), her cute crush, and oh yeah, her guardian angel, Madison's ready to take control of her own destiny once and for all, before it takes control of her.

Well, if she believed in that stuff.
